    I attend a fu**ing 4 hour lecture about this exact same content and I don't understand a word , but I understand it all in less than 30 minutes vid with this guy, dude this is unfair

    Thank a lot! saving me form med school. Btw I want to comment that in 20:21 the enzyme used is B-hydroxyacyl CoA dehydrogenase in order to move to B-ketoacyl CoA. Thanks a lot.

      ​@@chitrakarcosmoI was like why acyl CoA dehydrogenase responsible for convertion to Enoyl acy CoA. So B-hydroxyacyl CoA dehydrogenase responsible for the conversion to B-ketoacyl CoA. Looks like the reversed process of Fatty acid CoA synthesis.

    Well done, but there’s a small mistake at the beginning of the lecture. You mentioned that atp is converted to adp in fact it’s converted to amp and the 2 inorganic phosphates and the phosphoanhydride bond is broken by inorganic pyrophosphatase otherwise perfect video

    OMG. My Dr diagnosed me with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. She said my blood work shows I am healthy but I'm not losing weight. She said I need to mobilize my fat. She recommended fasting and I didn't understand it until now. Now I know how to mobilize my fat. I thought she just meant exercise but I see what I really have to do Thank you so much

    Nice video sir.. but a small correction .... in the first step.... ATP is converted to AMP + PPi... which is converted to Pi by an enzyme inorganic pyrophosphatase ... this makes the first step irreversible!!!

    Amazing explanation! Thank you ninja master. I think you flipped the CoA-SH in the opposite direct. I believe it should be Acetyl-S-CoA, so that CoA is bound to acetyl with thioester bond:)

    Nice and concise, I really appreciate what you're doing, particularly for people that cant afford education...but bear in mind, palmitoleic acid is a monounsaturated acid, necessitating more reactions that you drew, but for palmitic acid it is perfectly correct, and the thiol group is what connects the CoA to the acyl group.

    One suggestion - Don't show the thiol group on CoA just hanging off the end. The sulfur acts as a nucleophile and ends up binding to the first carbon in either acetylCoA or acylCoA.

      In medical biochemistry, it’s more important to grasp the concepts with clinical and proper disease oriented approach....rather than being so fussy about chemistry . In fact no one is here to understand chemistry, we r here to learn medical biochemistry.

    Nice video about oxidation of fatty acids . Understanding Biochemistry is extremely important for all doctors including gynaecologists. Without understanding the steroid pathway we can't understand the pathophyiology of Disorders of Sex Development .
    I would like to add few things more here about beta Oxidation . Beta oxidation takes place in four steps: dehydrogenation, hydration, oxidation and thyolisis. Each step is catalyzed by a distinct enzyme. It is the catabolic process by which fatty acid molecules are broken down.

    hey Zach the thiokinase step (Fatty Acyl CoA synthetase) is a pyrophosphate lysing step. so it will form AMP not ADP. it works like ...in step one acly adenylate is formed and then coA comes to release amp.. and coa is bound to Fatty acid via sulphur atom so no need to write SH at the end of CoA
