      This is all still so confusing to me and a lot to remember I’m just gonna leave my bio class in gods hands it’s like I don’t even know how to study this stuff. I’ve listened to TH-cam recordings of my teacher quizlet and when it’s time to do the work/take a quiz I don’t remember anything

    If you want to remember the order of inhibitors of the ETC think "RACCOON"
    R otenone - Complex I
    A ntimycin - Complex III
    C yanide - Complex IV
    C O - Complex IV
    O - ATP Synthase
    No coupling - uncoupling agent

    Why weren't you around during the 1st year of my medical school. Even Harper's Biochemistry doesn't deliver such a clear cut explanation. I will never forget this in my entire life. Its etched in my brain forever. Thank you. Huge respect !!!

      Please try Lehninger's Principle of Biochem as a reference book if you haven't already. Vander/Harper/Stryer does a good job but Lehninger helps to build the foundation of the concepts.

      @@user-hn9qg5qm3o Bnb explains this. If 2 NADH produced in glycolysis are transported to mitochondria via malate shuttle, they remain to be 2 NADH; if these 2 NADH are transported via Glycerol-3-P shuffle, 2 NADH are converted to 2 FADH2, decreasing 2 ATP.

    I'm just a Joe Soap in the street, but I need to know about this. I could understand it, but I have been watching a lot of videos of cells in general and on this topic. Your explanation is amazingly clear. It's slowly becoming second nature to me to some of the happenings in cells. But when I first heard about it I was blown away. It affects your philosophy of life no matter what it was before you knew this, unless maybe you're a student who just wants to pass that all important exam.     +1 one on one of the best explanations of the ETC-oxidative phosphorylation. And I am a PhD in Biology, so ive heard many of them )))) You did not highlight why it is called phosphrylation though, so as I understand it, it is the use of O2 and addition of phosphate to ATP that makes it OXPHOS

      It is called Oxidation because of stripping the Electron from NADH and FADH2. It is called Phosphorylation because of giving a Phosphorous to ADP.

    So if we figure out how to reverse the ETC i can turn water into Oxygen. So basically my dreams of becoming a fish isnt that far fetched? lul
