Even with their old prices, I still considered them as my first option for releasing my first album, because I heard DistroKid sometimes steals money from artists, and I really didn't want the percentage cut that CD Baby has, so TuneCore was the best option, but really pricy. Now, it's the clear winner. And this comes really handy for me since I was going to release it in a few weeks, and their pricing hasn't changed much in years until now :)
I’ve never had an issue with DK stealing money. The former CEOs of Tunecore and CD Baby now work at DK too btw, but I do think this update is what was needed to keep up with todays artists. Thanks for dropping a line
@@CSMRecordsLabel Tunecore says "We are experiencing a delay in processing revenue reports for TH-cam Music and TH-cam Content ID. We will post April sales for these platforms as soon as possible"
Does this make TuneCore better than other options (like DistroKid)? Is there a "best" for releasing music? What are the top options for an independent artists?
Honestly it’s all subjective. With this update, it puts TuneCore right on par with DistroKid as far as distributing music. What separates them is that they’re guaranteeing customer support within 1-3 days when DistroKid still doesn’t have a dedicated support team on hand. Best options are still TuneCore, DistroKid, and OneRPM in my opinion. Symphonic is another good option but they have a lot of miscellaneous charges for their additional services that make them stand out.
