If you remove one bolt from the centre joint and loosen the other one you can move the driveshaft over a little which is enough to fit a 15mm deep socket and long extension to get the middle nut. No need to drop exhaust.
Thanks mate, very helpful….. about to do mine before it stuffs up, I’m big on preventative maintenance & don’t want to be doing this on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere (I’m doing a lap of Oz soon & replacing everything that I know will give me grief sooner or later, $3k and counting so far, but worth it…… ‘05 SX, 155k k’s, bound to give me trouble if I don’t get ahead of it 👍) BTW those hose clamp tools are cheap at auto spares shops, about $8 at Repco 😊
Thanks for the vid mate, after self diagnosing my fuel pump needing replacement the mechanic i took it to must have forgotten the green O-ring or binned it, after $800 in "repairs" every time I fill my tank to full it leaks diesel. I'm also getting no fuel gauge reading anymore so he's either munted the float or didnt install it properly so off to another mechanic that isn't screwing me around to make sure the O-ring is actually installed and float is working. This vid helped me understand the new issues i've got since their service on it cheers.
Thanks for the video! I did this today. A few suggestions for others attempting it...1. The car needs 100mm between the tyres and the ground to have enough clearance. 2. The muffler almost certainly needs to come out. It made it way easier. WD the bolts before you start jacking. 3. The back nut above the driveshaft can be taken out with a spanner if you're battling extension bars etc. 4. The fuel line fittings are quick connect. To me it seems a bit risky shoving sharp things in the end of them. If you crimp the sides gently with pliers and give it a wiggle while pushing it on gently it will pop off. 5. It took me about 4hrs too
Just finished this job today. I bought a pump on Friday knowing i have to do it before the filter but the low fuel switch broke Sunday which means it wont start. Luckily it broke in my driveway so i wasn't stranded but my driveway is on a slope and could only lift the back about 10cm, just twist the tank. no need to take the muffler off but what wasn't mentioned is the filler hose to take off (unless i missed it). Dont fumble around with trying to get the hoses off, just cut them at the pump for easy removal afterwards since the pump is broken anyway. Mine is diesel so no need to disconnect the battery.
Dude, great video, thanks heaps! Those fuel connectors on the pump, they sort of look like the kind you can just squeeze in those white bits on the sides and pull the connector off, but maybe not. So there's no cover above the fuel tank in these to get to the fuel pump without taking the tank out?
Just changed my territory diesel pump today. The tank and pump comes off the same way. Did it on the ground without a hoist. Body is a bit sore now. Jack the car up as high as you can with stands, it will make it a lot easier. I didn’t remove the muffler, I worked from the passenger side and removed the rear tyre for extra room. Used a GOSS GE515 from Repco. They price matched Sparesbox online store so I got it for just under $200. This video is great and saved me a lot of time and headaches.
At home, it would have to be 6 - 8 hrs wouldn't it? Allow at least 1 - 2 hours to get the car set up high enough first. Use inflated wheels and tyres to sit the car on if on a non concrete floor, then remove the spare and remove the muffler. Get the gaskets for the muffler flanges and crack the bolts off before you proceed in case they break or something. Use WD-40 on the muffler bolts and let it soak. I'd do it over 2 or even 3 days. The reason I say this is this stuff irritates me. I can do one part on one day and after I'm annoyed then leave it till the next day. I'm a mechanic turned to driving trucks because I hate (with a capital H) this stuff. I get so pissed off with working on mechanical things that I always plan this stuff in bite sized chunks, as an anger management technique if nothing else.
Still not sure, now check engine light comes on everytime I switch the ignition on?? Select and Yellow triangle comes on? Car runs starts first time, Cruise works. Scanned comes up with P0087 Fuel Rail Sysem Pressure To Low but starts runs OK except for fault keepd coming up?? Cant hear low pressure tank pump runnin>> Still waiting for return call from Ford Trararagon service manager!!!!!???

cheers for the tips, it's not the best job to do.
Thanks for the in-depth vid, and double Thanks for the end screen I thought I had paint overspray on my phone screen😂

Just the info I needed, now I know I don’t want to do it myself!
Why no inspection plate under the seat like most cars Ford??
tell me about it, such a silly design
Thanks for making this video; it's definitely helpful

Thanks. Very helpful. Signs of a diesel leak from mine. Prospect of dropping tank just to see what the problem is. Pita
won't be too bad if you have an empty tank, mine was near full
great job mate. great advice . is it the same for diesel territory do you know.

could be Fuel pressure regulator, bad fuel pressure sensor, fuel pump could be on its way out or could be that the fuel filter is simply blocked.
Looks easy then doing the gearbox hah
Don it the hard way
i feel for you :D
