Nice i devently gonna buy a ticket
wow imagine being able to spend 2 months rent money on RC cars...
just for a video...
@@user-zq9xh4rc3c wish my rent was that cheap! That's less than a months worth of RC Cars for my place, and it's certainly no mansion!
U eat then puup. Better buy rc, got bored, can decorate or sell. Wont get u fat from eatting junks.
Is it Only for UK? Or can you send them to Europe?
A really good way of comparing brands! Please make more videos like this
yes... I think I will
@@TomleyRCI also like a few videos like this.
@@TomleyRCMy favorite rc vids are usually comparing many rcs at once (like this and writing their scores on the board)👍
We want more videos like this ❤
More coming!
@@TomleyRCditto. Very nice change of pace.
This video should be a sign to ARRMA to make a 1/10 street racer to compete with all these guys.
I kind of agree but the 1/10 segment is pretty crowded and they have some kick ass 1/8 cars out.
@@dannyseville2543 I love both Arrma and Traxxas and Kyosho. But I have 1/10 of the latter 2. I would love an ARRMA 1/10 STREET RACER. They did an awesome job creating the Arrma Granite Grom.
I guess I didn't realize Kyosho cheaped out so badly on the RTR Fazer.
I bought the chassis kit and love it! It came with metal drive shafts and other premium hardware that apparently the RTR models don't. 😢
I put in an Onyx motor and ESC combo and it rips! I've clocked it at 48mph and have gone through several sets of tires. 😁
That Skyline has been tempting me for almost a year. I just don't trust myself not to damage all of it's detail
I got the Subaru to do a rally build, and tossed a brushless system in with the only durability mod being the center driveshaft. The body's are definitely a bit fragile if you bash em hard (but honestly, my FZ02 had no business doing backflips at the skatepark to begin with). The chassis is super durable though, and parts are plentiful (in the US at least)
It’s such a nice body 👌
Yeah, that's the problem isn't it..
After a couple of months you're going to end up with a ruined body & a crap plastic chassis.!!
I mean PLASTIC DIFFS & DRIVESHAFTS.!?? C'mon Kyosho.
(I have a mad Van VE & it's one of the most disappointing RCs I've ever owned.. The front diff blew on the third 2S lipo & the body lasted about 10 minutes.! I stripped it's electronics & tyres & threw it in a cupboard, I never want to see it again.!
I own both so I can definitely advise buying either the FTX Stinger or the HPI RS4 Sport creator kit rolling chassis for £100 & getting yourself a really nice body from L&L Models for around £35 & you'll end up with a much better RC.
The RS4 can be made to run really well with basic tuning.
Also, imho L&L Models make the best looking (with 3d printed spoilers/mirrors/grills etc) most durable & best value bodies in the UK, they have a huge choice to pick from in various scales too.!!
Of course, that's not much help if you're not living in the UK..
You can always get an HSP version (OEM?) of the FTX, they sell for around £130 on Ebay for the brushed version & £200 ish for the brushless, the NSX looking one is nice.!
Stay safe out there mate & best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️
Recently found out that we got a racing track for RC cars nearby. Membership of 295€ each year with insurances and so on, so wanted a quick car but not too fast. So the Traxxas Stingray had been quite tempting to me.
HPI SPORT 3 SERIES can also have issues too with their metal drive train that also is not bullet proof either .
Love seeing these types of videos. Well done!!
FTX is an absolute no-brainer for me. A well deserved win i reckon. Also, great video as always!
Yes, that thing rips!
Get the Stinger mate, I can tell you from personal experience that you will definitely not be disappointed.!
I'm absolutely blown away by the level of performance this RC delivers out the box.!!!
This was an awesome idea. We need more like it.
12:43 I should be the only one who ABSOLUTELY love the KYOSHO chassis.
To me this is the most beautiful one, on every aspects.
The design looks very very nice, very modern, I have absolutely no complaints about plastics, the arms are AMAZING in terms of look, the key elements are solids and metal, etc etc.
🤷♂️
EDIT: Love the Traxxas one too. Very very well designed and executed. Damn these little cars are very lovely, beginners got amazing cars with these.
And SPECIAL MENTION for the FTX. ABSOLUTE bargain. Well done and thank you FTX !!!
Good comparison video . Must have been a lot of work .Disappointed with the Kyosho's mechanics too , but each was made to hit a price point .
That Skyline is just stunning 😍 Excellent video 👍🏼
Wanted the Kyosho GTR to dominate on looks alone, but the quality of the FTX package for the win, fair play.
Please, do more like these! Really good stuff! Real rc car comparison.
Yes... of course
That's one for the Traxxas junk boys
FTX hosed up! That JDM Skyline though… 🥰
No1 rc reviewer keep the video's going
Cheers Nick 👌
I haven't even seen it yet and I already love it.
Looks like the 1.1 guys have been some car related fun before you got there. Like to see a Tamiya onload run as a benchmark!
And nice watches today dude!
Great vid idea!
I’ve been lookin to see what’s the best on road rc out there in this video helps a lot👍💯
Thanks for the showcase. I'm looking at swapping chassis soon from the Bonzai Phantom Racer. Tried upgrading it, got 56mph out of it, but it has too many issues to keep it rolling. Just comes down to poor design which is a shame. It's a cool looking little truck.
Great vudeo Phil! Keep 'em coming!
Great video Phil, very TG approach! The Kyosho shares a lot of parts with the Mad Van and so should be stronger than you think, the plastic prop for example can take 3S on Monster Truck tyres. They also do a roller with a few nice upgrades, so you can get your choice of brushless and one of those beautiful bodies. Worth checking it out.
I'd love more charted comparisons similar to this. This is great. I love that Kyosho Skyline.
Hell yes I've been wondering what to get next
Great video and a great comparison, full of fun and opinions
Very well done‼️👍👍🦾🦾🤘🤘
Great comparison! Really fun to watch. Have you considered something like a 1-10 (or 1-5) rating for each car in each category, instead of ordinal scoring?? That way you could have ties, or they could all be low or high. Thanks for what you do!
I'd also deduct MAJOR points for damaged out of the box. Imagine spending that kind of dough getting home and bummer, it's broken already! That's what Quality Control is for.
Yes… and regular Phil would have milked that for the whole video… but for this video I was trying to be fair (for a change lol)
Wonderful, what an amazingly fantastic put-together video. Great job, bro. Well done 😁😄👍🫶
Thanks for the comparison! These Minilites are actually Watanabe branded wheels in Japan. Classic tuner wheels in Japan.
Appreciate the thorough and honest review and comparison!
I really want to love the Kyosho mainly for looks, but man that platform has been overused and under-developed.
I really want to get more FTX stuff after watching your videos, just doesn't always make sense across the pond.
Winning this would make me happier than coffee, I love on road rc’s
My man, I don't disagree at all. It's a big job doing a run down on 5 cars at once across a set of criteria (I'm a teacher, I've done this kind of thing from time to time).
On the strength of the reviews you've done on FTX cars before (there was a larger scale one wasn't there?) they look like a decent brand. Yeah that Kyosho offering was a tad disappointing, they make such good stuff usually.
I found that all very interesting.
Great vid as always i love ftx👍
Thank you
You have fantastic handwriting mate. What if we took the looks out of the equation ?
"Track start, stop read " 🤫 shhh just relax & enjoy the ride.
Cheers
Good video. I like this style of comparison.
And props to you for not dogging the T brand even on the parts that were a bit subjective.
Think you were very fair.
Great job as always !!!
That Kyosho makes me sad. They're hands down the most beautiful rc cars out there but if the engineering sucks it's a no go. Maybe you could mount the body on a different chassis?
Mint video! The Kyosho is absolutely gorgeous but can't believe it's got plastic drive shafts. I agree that the FTX takes the win. 👍🏻
I think that was quite a fair contest, shame about the rain.
I think I might have to look at FTX and see what would be good for me. 🤔👍
Challenger baby!! Love driving mine like this in real life lol.
@Tomley Rc i suggest using zip tie on them bodypost..saves time using pliers😅btw great review 👍🏻👍🏻♥️♥️💪🏻💪🏻
Yes… but looks crap 😅
Great comparison Phil! I can't argue with anything about it...
Yeah, it was really hard to do and also to try and be fair
The Kyosho Fazer MK2 has the best chassis for durability, the design layout, true, double wishbone, a arm suspension, the cups on the end of the tie rods are steering stops, it comes with plastic driveshafts in plastic outdrive cups, but they are three times thicker than the metal ones provided in other kits, and reduce rotational mass meaning more power gets to the wheels.
Also, the tuned version has a slipper clutch that is adjustable. You will never blow the 14 turn brushed motor and you will never have an issue with the ESC.
The ride height is what you want for a touring car, if you’ve ever been to a touring car track, you would know that.
Kyosho is the best by far, no comparison. I’ve been doing the rally conversions in my shop and selling these MK2 for 3 years. Never had a issue with any of the fore mentioned.
Only thing you wanna do is replace the center driveshaft with the aluminum upgrade.
There you go, Kyosho have a plug😂😂
Great advice and good to know.I,d have one anyday and its a Kyosho.
Great info, it’s something I’m not familiar with, so just had to judge it on face value. I mean it placed pretty well on the end, so not to bad 👌
KYOSHO 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z28 VE , all the way 🤣
Everyone thinks I am… but I’ve never said I am 😅
@@TomleyRC true😇😅
Fantastic video and comparisons. I too really like metal drive train but when you look at the entire arrma 3s BLX range runs on plastic shafts I wouldn't be surprised if I bought a brushed car and it had plastic drivetrain. Seems like they could have cheaped out on that aspect and gone for better specs elsewhere, more adjustability etc. Unfortunately I bought my kids a FTX outlaw and was massively disappointed with it to the point I got rid after a few runs.
Great comparison and right car won in my opinion. Definitely entering this raffle too
Good luck dude
Love these videos
Great , I like this vidéo. My choice was Traxas , two years ago , she s so biotyfull in red .
Hello from France and on the rc road again.
Was that an air show going on in the background during the performance test of the skyline lol nothing better than the sounds of jet engines ripping through the sky, I grew up around jets my father is a aircraft mechanic for the world's fastest non military jet at 0.92 Mach or 700mph
Great review of all the cars couldn't agree more with the results. Great video brother much love and respect from New York
I live near RAF Waddington (I used to work there). They were the Red Arrows, practicing. Your Dad may have worked on the same jet as I did.... 0.92 mach sounds like a VC10, although that was a military one also. Maybe it was something else... but either way, it's an impressive speed
A proper decent review video Phil top work as always, could you possibly do the same thing for 1/10 crawlers at some point👍🏻
Absolute great review. Perfect information, well presented 👍🏻👍🏻😃😃
Thanks mate
Have to agree with the Kyosho Fazer verdict. The bodyshells are works of art. Like the wonderbras of RC, peek underneath and there’s not much there. It’s a shame because the 1/8 scale cars and the legendary series are some of the best bits of kit I’ve owned.
Great content. Tamiya??? In the bin
RTR?
I agree with that result and ftx cars are great for what you pay. Your my go to RC channel, I only own one car of 8 that you haven't reviewed. Thanks so much.👍
Since watching this an extra 1600 views Phil in twenty odd minutes…these are the reviews we want. Brilliant and informative…FTX all the way.
Both you and Popalong are reigniting the RC interest😊
Thanks Paul... my aim is to make enjoyable videos, with just the right amount of info to keep the average person happy. I mean you'll never please everyone... but I'm happy to please most ;)
@@TomleyRC The thing is the hobby can be a minefield with people going all out and having all the gear and no idea…sometimes these videos put things into perspective and is a valuable starting point for anyone getting into RC.
I’ve got an eclectic mix of 8th scale Radix 6, trio of 24th scale crawlers and purchased yesterday a year old brushed and tricked up FTX Zoro for 90 quid.
Will be soon adding the Stinger and building the Tamiya Escort RS 2000 Rally car.
And all of these cars are used by my students at school for the RC club I run☺️
@@paulsmith9106 sounds like an awesome school!
@@TomleyRC It is….kids are great and love the cars
Nice job Phil.. tough video to make i guess but definitely a clear winner there!
Yes, it was pretty hard to score them lol... I liked them all in a different way. But at least I can fine tune the next 'Battle' Video lol
the scoreboard remembers me 🤔🤔🤔🤔.
Good old topgear times.
thanks mr. clarks... ähm tomley RC😅
Keep the board do the same thing with different cars, really enjoyed this vid that ftx is impressive
Yes, that’s the plan. I already have my next batch ready 😇
@@TomleyRC cool
Your video too is " la crème de la crème" MERCI BEAUCOUP. LOVE to see your videos. Your un deux trois was so cool, little french for a French viewer 😅
Great video Phil . Nice comparison of the cars. I would put the Kyosho GTR body on the FTX chassis 😊
THAT is a great idea !!! If the sizes worked of course
@@nathanwirth9906 yeah that would be a problem though with body posts no doubt being nowhere near
GREAT VIDEO!!!! Nice job Except your “looks” category…..that associated truck is definitely last Your video gets 9 out of 10. Only missing the trombone sound effect to get full marks!!!
That Z28 is pretty cool! I don't know what made them think it was a good idea to put the Super Sport "Ice cube trays" on top of the cowl induction hood, though!! 🤦🤦♂🤦♀ Hopefully you can just peel them off and there's no scribing in the body for them.
I think you should keep that chalkboard so you can do another video like this, because this was great 👍🏻
Great video. Really enjoyed that and Im not the target for any of these products
Santa:
_"Darnit Phil, they were all getting tiny drones this year, now I have to lug all these huge cars!"_
UK 'S No1 RC channel 🎉
well done boy💯🇬🇧🎈
Very good testing, their Tom.
Perhaps a little later on, you can add a 1/10 scale Carisma M40s and a Tamiya TT 02 to your scoreboard.
By the time you purchase the items needed for completion, they will be similar in price.
I think if I included all the 1/10’s I’d need a much bigger board and a lot more time haha
A TT-02 would still be nice to include as a baseline.
I really enjoyed the comparison. I think it gives the viewer a great look at all of these. I have owned a 4Tec and they are very durable. I have a Kyosho, but I haven't run it yet. I watched two amazing tests by another TH-camr. He and a friend took theirs to a skate park and truly bashed them and never broke anything but the bodies. They then took them to a track and ran them in the rain and they ran very well and nothing stopped working. They were shooting rooster tails of water behind the cars. Unless those were the exception to the rule they may be a better quality than their appearance would make you think. The Stinger looks like a great car. For U.S. residents it's over $400 on Aliexpress and about $400 on Ebay coming from the UK.I think there are cheaper places out there. This is a great idea for a video. I think it will spark some discussions.
Yes, it was harder to do that i thought! They all have their pros and cons. Certainly will do some more videos like this
Wow thanks mate I was about to to buy The Kyosho u saved me lots of money thank u mate
I have the FTX stinger and it’s awesome great quality amazing performance and the price is the cherry on top! I brought it due to your full review on it!
Brilliant video ❤
Thanks mate
GTR was kind of a sleeper to me I didn’t think it would hold up against the others but it’s one of my favorites.
Team Associated is my winner. They have a special place in my hobby heart. lol. Fantastic video, Phil. We need more of these videos!
More coming boss :)
I just got the FTX Zorro. I absolutely love it.
The Kyosho really appeals to me. I am seriously considering this beauty. I don't even have a proper "On road" RC yet!!
I think it’s probably better than I thought, i’m just not familiar with the chassis
Thanks for the video, I was planning on getting a 1/10 street car and was looking at all the cars you reviewed but for the price I decided on the 4-Tec 2.0 VXL Chassis and putting a KillerBody on it. Your video helped reinforce my decision.
I think the VXL 4-tec would be a solid choice. Just not in this category because of the price
Awesome video and comparison, Phil! 😃
I pretty much agree, but the most beautiful body is the HDI. Nothing can beat the 69 Camaro there!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Traxxas Chevy Corvette is best looks in my view!
I fully agree with your scores 💯%
Mini lites or in Japan wantanabi's😂
After watching this does the fazer mark 2 body fit on the ftx chassis that seems like the best of them all 😂
Nice french accent !!! Merci pour la vidéo
Choked on my coffee when you said £🤣
Tomley excellent review. LEFTY!!!! me too.
Lefty’s rule 👌
I agree with you ftx stinger all the way!!!
Iv had a few ftx and you can't really argue about quality of value excellent brand to start off in the hobby, with everything you need straight out the box ,,except a few batteries for the tx , , when you start adding lipo / chargers it can soon push up the price ,
Great review
Ayy, love to see a Fazer reviewed. Seems they don't get any play on the channels I follow. Beauty. Thanks for putting this together.
I have the Traxxas and TA cars shown here, and enjoy them both. The Traxxas body with the light kit looks incredible, and the light buckets are all prepped. And it can take a beating, I have done some mean roof slides and it's still looking nice. The TA is a beauty too, but definitely a more flimsy body, and you have to remove the paint from the headlights to use them. The TA drivetrain is much smoother, though, and seems the suspension is better (that's a bit above my pay grade).
For some reason, the Hoonicorn comes with a really small pinion. Maybe for extra torque? Is that how it works? I chucked a bigger pinion in there and it's a lot better on the parking lot track we have.
Yeah, I mean they are all good in their one way. This video was a more difficult to do that I first thought 😀
There's a trick to open the body pins just by lifting the end upwards and pull.
I think the cheapest one which is the FTX. Sounds the best and was really smooth on the road and handled well just sounds really good. And that's the cheapest one how crazy is that😮😊. It goes to show brushless motors is the way to go. 👍👍
I am not a Traxxas fan, but they deserve bonus points for not using body clips.
Great video 💯
A little bit of an homage to the "Top Gear" comparisons. 🙂 I was waiting for James May to start counting with the dodgey math they would use to cheat 😅
I know it took a bit of work. (If you can call testing RC cars work😊) But this was a fantastic idea.!! Great vid.
It took a long time! The short bit of running footage was nearly a full day 😅
My Honnitruck body looks brand new and has broken down 3 times.
I have been through 3 bodies and maybe 10 sets of drift tires and 4 sets of vxl rated tires.
The 4 tec will roll at 80kms an hour and just brush it of.
Should of done normal peeps full price. but a sort of fair assessment. Great you put the effort in.
Some of the categories on the board are opinion based but its pretty cool
Put the kyosho body on the ftx , that's the winner
Oh happy days TomleyRc video Yess
😎🤘
Have ftx been around for long? I have it in my head they are relative newcomers that did cheap cars that were ok but seem to actually make some really good value ones now. I got the dr8 and yeah, not perfect but for thr price is an amazing and actually scary bit of kit.
