    I was born in Frederick and graduated in the class of 1964. It was a busy town during the time I grew up. Sad to see how it has changed. It did look clean though not like some dirty towns. I don’t go back much but still have family and friends who live there. Need to go back and visit my mother and father’s graves and drive out to see the farm where I grew up before moving to Frederick.

    You must have been there on a Sunday afternoon. Its a much busier town than portrayed.

    Thanks for the walk down memory lane! I grew up in Frederick and it breaks my heart to see it so run down. It used to be a great little town in the 70's thru the early 90's. I really wish people would restore those historic buidings and bring Frederick back to life.

    My Mother worked in Bumpas's Drug and Gift. It was a high end gift shop, they went to Dallas Market a couple times a year. You cannot imagine the level of sophistication that small farming town achieved until about 15 years of drought and attrition shrank it. Amazing talent and intellect. Still there, you just aren't going to see it downtown at 7am on a Sunday morning. Go about 2 blocks east at 9:30, jeenyus.

    The town used to be so lively in the 90's when I lived there. Now, it seems very sad. There are still some things open, but Saturdays and Sundays are quiet other than the churches being filled and Sonic having a full lot. I only go back there to visit my parents graveside.

    All of us with the same likes and opinions need to move to one of these towns and start our own town.. Be awesome to get a few thousand of us together to restart a town.. We could trade and barter more and get away from this greedy cash society. I bet these old nice buildings would sell cheap with the way the economy is now.. ill own the bar and the hardware store.. lol😂

      Wally World was not the demise of our town, those in leadership was. They didn’t try to make it appealing to businesses! It’s depressing to go home.

      I'm in the process of moving back to one. The community i moved to 14 years ago has increased 15x since then. My house in the country is now in the city. They incorporated my land a couple years ago and skyrocketed my taxes. Texas has the worst property tax laws. If they want your property, they just tax you out of it. That is one thing California does right. You pay taxes on the purchase amount for life. Not an over inflated amount they determine is the current value

      @meanqkie2240 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There was Tomlinson's, precursor to TG&Y, precursor to AIM, before Walmart ever made it out of Arkansas. There was a Gibson's Discount Center, a White's Auto, BF Goodrich, NAPA, several new car dealerships, IH, AC and Deere farm dealerships, Dolese, huge granite monument company, many grocery stores, many other classic Drug and Gift stores with full soda fountain and booths. Many restaurants and cafes.
