  • Is Oklahoma ok?
Does everyone in Oklahoma go to church?
And does Braums have the best ice cream ever?
We’ll answer those questions and a whole lot more partner! So grab yourself an onion burger, we’re fixin to unbox the state of Oklahoma!
Oklahoma isn't ALL flat. And it isn’t ALL tornadoes, cattle ranchers, fishing, oil, sports, churches, guns and Republicans. Ok it is that. But, in order to REALLY figure out which part of the state is best for you, and to get to know Oklahoma the most proper way you can. And that’s by lookin at a big ole map and then zone into each region one at a time.
This is Oklahoma. As you can see, it has sort of a lot going on, and most of the action is in one big area of the state. But in terms of ecological diversity, Oklahoma is the most diverse of any other state. You may not know it, but Oklahoma has more varied terrain and subclimates than any other state, and it’s not even close. It has everything from high plains to mountains and subtropical forests and even a mini desert. It's kinda the south of the Midwest, sorta midwest geographically, but southern in culture. Oklahoma is kinda like Kansas but with native Americans and oil. Here’s a good guide on the types of people you’ll see in Oklahoma’s three main regions - the west, central and east.
Let’s begin way over here in the far western side of the state first. This is the Oklahoma panhandle.

Where do you live, Mr. Nick Johnson? In OK? You give a lot of recommendations with no evidence to back them up. Hope your real estate business is booming because your You Tube video productions stuck. You will pass off all Okies with your sour attitude about the quality of life in OK. You need an Attitude adjustment, man!! Are you crazy?

Just came back from an 8-day visit to Oklahoma, and it wasn't what I expected. Much greener and hilly than I thought. People were very polite and I got none of the antagonism when I chose to wear a mask that I thought I'd get (I obviously look at social-media too much). Overall, it impressed me. Tulsa, particularly, is very nice - with its outdoor attractions, bike/pedestrian paths, and arts district, it reminded me of some of our Pacific Northwest cities like Portland and Eugene. Thanks for making me feel welcome, Oklahoma!

Tulsa actually has one of the worst crime rates per capita in the country! I grew up there and didn't realize how dangerous it was until I moved away..we were subject to a lot of thefts, property damage, etc..but it seemed pretty normal at the time! I've heard Tulsa is on the up-and-up and it has changed a lot in the past few years. I have family who is moving back after 11 years overseas, and it seems a lot different now.

Yee Yee is a brand term made famous by country singer Granger Smith, who was born and lives in Texas. A lot of country fans say it but it’s not an Okie-ism.
To the outside world, Texas and Oklahoma may seem to be the same, but if you live here, it’s kind of like two crosstown warring high schools: bitter rivals in sports, although both are excellent.

I have lived in Oklahoma most of my 44 years and your video is mostly accurate. The meth problem isn't as bad as it was 10 years ago and I have never heard anyone say YEE YEE. The OU/OSU thing is true. Broken Bow area is really improving if you are an outdoorsman you can rent a really nice cabin down there some of them are big enough to sleep over 10 people and you can enjoy some fly fishing and go hiking or look for a Bigfoot. Lawton and Midwest City are definitely places to stay away from. In the last year I have been all over Southeast Oklahoma fishing around and the decline of the small towns is sad. A lot of them are so run down and I have noticed a lot of burned down houses in almost every small town I drove through. On the plus side the metro areas, OKC and Tulsa, just seem to be getting bigger and getting new businesses there are a lot of new houses being built. One thing about Oklahomans is that almost everyone here knows more about tornadoes and thunderstorm than most people, we even know all the meteorological terms and what they mean. We are well informed on severe weather. Check out the National Weather Museum in Norman.

Lived over 35 years in Oklahoma with degrees from both OU and OSU. Never heard of Yee-Yees. We in Edmond called them Goat-ropers. No reason to fear tornados as the State has the best radar coverage in the country and they can track them down to a few hundred feet on the map. None of my friends did drugs and it is hard to get drunk on 3.2 beer. A nice place to live, but you wouldn't want to visit. Not a tourist State.

I was raised and spent my young adulthood in Oklahoma, though work has taken me away for many years (to the DC area and also San Antonio). I think this was a pretty accurate and even-handed video, light-hearted throughout. I really do miss a lot of things about Oklahoma, and enjoy visiting there whenever I can, usually yearly or so. Thank you for highlighting the state's diversity of landscapes - that diversity would be downright shocking to many people, even to many Oklahomans, especially those who hang out almost exclusively in the OKC area. And the state's people are great. This is all making me homesick.

Great video as always! I went to Oklahoma to "meet the parents" for a holiday weekend. We took a puddle jumper plane from DFW to OK, and I don't recommend that. I think 'somebody' wanted to show her friends how we spend money, maybe. Saw the 'Jesus of the Whichitas' monument, and the military base. They took me to some place where supposedly nobody finishes the hamburger, but I could have eaten 2 of them. I went to a tiny gym for a one-off visit, and saw the first Ford GT, that I had ever seen in person. I got to watch some Dallas Cowboys football with some authentic locals, and thought that was cool, being pretty alone doing that on the east coast. I bought some OSU sunglasses in a gas station. We went out drinking in a club, and I was glad to be part of a set of couples, because the men in there looked like the O-Line for OU football, not openly threatening, but the kind you wouldn't want to ask their date to dance and try to live to tell about it. On average, it looked like a nice state. The people I met up close did like to drink and smoke cigarettes until the room fogged up so bad, you couldn't see through it. You could definitely see the ease with which people could fall economically without some educational advantage. Any place where people are living very free, and not having a lot of outside influence is going to feel that way. It would be hard to choose over Texas given the proximity and opportunity differences. Just having access to DFW airport by car could be an edge there.

Sand Springs is a nice place to live. Upper class live there too, and it’s becoming a nicer city as each year passes. It’s growing.

Thank you for the quick lesson on OK!!! Very entertaining and informative. We are a Korean family in our 30s moving into tulsa as a tulsa remote elect. I got 2 young kids (5 month & 4 years), are there any parts of Tulsa recommended for raising a family? I would live in Jenks or Bixby but cannot because of Tulsa remote.
