This song was written by Pau as a big middle finger to the critics who were ragging on the sisters for singing in English. "Malinchista" is a derogatory term used in Mexico to describe someone who prefers foreign things, people, or culture.

I think the best trait the warning has. Is the heart and energy they give to the crowds and then feed off the energy given back. They are the best example of that.

Beto Ramos is one of Pau's drum teachers. The song is an F-You to journalist in Mexico who accused the band of "cultural traitors" for writing songs in english, so Pau made this one in spanish so they could clearly understand what she thinks about them.

The guest drummer is Beto Ramos. He is a very prominent musician in his own right in the Mexican music scene.
Beto is a band mentor and one of Pau’s drum mentors. He is also very involved in the technical aspects of the band. He introduced the band to the Ableton software and helped Pau learn it and setup her laptop.
He also helped Dany program her earlier Helix Line 6 guitar processor/pedal board.
He also is the person who did the audio mixing this very concert we’re all watching.
Other drummers have sat in to let Pau roam the stage for this song. Arejay Hale is another and their drum tech has sat in onstage as well. I think there have been others as well.
The English translation should explain the song’s meaning if not, it’s is a huge raspberry to the Mexican media who were critical initially of TW singing their songs in English and some suggested they were cultural traitors or malinchista.

By the way, there’s a video of Dany singing Painkiller with 3 Days Grace at a festival in Europe on their channel showing how she performs without a guitar: th-cam.com/video/KeiQjJGXpIo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=k86zYPlVfxRukB-s 😎👍

They're all blessed with charisma. You'll find people talk about how, when Dany walks in to a room, everyone is captivated. They call Dany, "The Boss". All heart and soul, she is an open book with her emotions and completely fearless about showing them. With Pau, she is both expressive and very outspoken, often (without malice) taking over interviews. It's her nature to be creative and open about the work. I make my living in advertising/marketing as a graphic designer and art director. We all wish we were Pau. Ale is demure, composed and introspective but when she speaks you can't help but listen. She is grace, personified, at 19. They are all "old souls" with wisdom and maturity way beyond their years.

You are correct. All 3 can and have pulled off being the lead singer quite well. Ale is always tied to her instrument at the mic stand.
You've just seen Pau sing out front, and when her or Dany get a chance to guest feature with another band, they are all over the stage.
They're like little nuclear reactors 🤘⚡🔥

When they showed the original Spanish lyrics to Mom, she informed them that the grammar was kind of out to lunch, and helped them to smooth it out. Spanish is their main language, but they do use a lot of slang that doesn't convert properly to a song in that language.
The English translation of it looks kind of clunky as a result.
For example, in English we say The Blue House, in French it's La Maison Bleue. Directly translated to English its The House Blue, or The House That Is Blue.

    • @DadDaughtersandDrinks

DPA/TW have guest musicians join them on stage for a song from time to time... in this case the guest drummer, Beto Ramos, is one of Pau's drum coaches... Beto was also the sound mixer and sound master for this concert... some other guest musicians have been Pliego Villarreal (no relation to DPA but they do call him cousin), Pablo González Sarre (Ale's bass coach and band mentor), Arejay Hale (Halestorm drummer), and Barry Stock (Three Days Grace lead guitar)... DPA/TW have also shared the stage with other bands like Moderatto (an '80s glam metal parody band) and Eruca Sativa (Argentine alternative rock band)...

a couple of months after this concert they were back on tour with Halestorm. For the final two shows of that tour, Arejay came out to play drums on this song and let Pau go up front. I was at the first of those two shows and for the first chorus, Pau's mic wasn't working. She swapped it out with Ale's mic and everything was fine until after the guitar solo when Ale had to come in for the na nas and realized she didn't have a working mic so she had to dash across the stage to use Dany's mic.

When they were touring Canada opening for Three Days Grace, there Barry Stock of 3DG came out to play Choke for Dany so that she got to play front woman diva. Unfortunately, I've not seen a NY full video of that, only a poorly recorded partial. Several times, Dany also came out with 3DG to sing their song, Painkiller. She also did this in Europe at the Ring AM Concert. Anyway, you're right about both Dany and Pau being front women. IDT Ale is quite there yet in her development as a singer. I've been thinking a lot about her reticence to singing the lead vocals and I really thing it has to do with lack of sufficient vocal training. Also, Ale has perfect pitch but whenever she sings her voice will deviate at times more than a half step off the pitch. That has to annoy the hell out of her and break her concentration. When it comes to music, she is a perfectionist. Her ability to maintain timing it impeccable as well, for example. And both Dany and Pau rely on her to keep the focused and on the beat. Although all of us would love to have Ale singing lead more often, it is probably not int he cards, at least anytime soon.

    • @DadDaughtersandDrinks
      @DadDaughtersandDrinks  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Everything you said above is spot on. I think many people believe singing is something you either have or you don't, probably based on how there are a lot of people who can naturally just sound awesome. Later in life I learned that singing really is like a muscle that you need to work out, train, exercise, etc., and many people whose singing I love started off as people who weren't very good singers at all! If it's something Ale wants to do, she'll get there in her own time - I'm sure she's got the full support of everyone around her! And let's face it, if it never happens, it's not like the quality of the band's music will suffer with the overwhelming mass of talent they already have.

at 6:14 you see Pau reaching out with her left arm... the video guys missed it, but Pau was reaching out to a fan doing the finger hearts thing with them... it can be seen in some fan-cam videos of this concert... then she goes racing back to center stage like a woman on a mission and a bit of sass in those lyrics at that point 😹

Mexico City (2240m, 7350ft) is higher in altitude than Denver, Colorado (1609m, 5280ft)! certainly higher than their home town of Monterrey, Mexico (540m, 1770ft)... this is mentioned because of the altitude and thin air... when doing strenuous activities, you need more air... in some of their early concerts, you can tell the altitude catches them out a bit... it didn't catch them out in this concert, though!! 😹

Dany is an extraordinary frontwoman, but Pau can be too. There is a reactor (an Italian punk rock musician) who has thought that Pau should do a parallel project to The Warning, where she could be a frontwoman (not behind the drums) to take advantage of her abilities, but I don't think Pau would want to do it for how close she is with her sisters and because, with touring and working on a new album, her available time is very, very limited.

I'm sure this is an issue a lot of musicians struggle with. In some cases it goes well, but in others not so much, and I could see her not wanting to risk it. Smart, IMHO.
