I use Netflix and other apps on my smart tv so that’s not a problem for me. I have had this box a couple of months and it’s fine for my use. I don’t know what’s going on with the aura app though. Subbed.
I've had mine for a while now and as an average user just wanting to use the standard features had no issues bar iPlayer sometimes not working from the top bar but if you scroll down and run from a bit further down the screen it does. Missing the aura app which was a major reason for buying this model. It's fully covered in the manual so odd it hasn't been released.
Thank you for posting the really helpful Humax AURA videos (I purchased one this week). I’d never have found some of the menus without you demonstrating - particularly helpful, the ability to change the resolution of playing movies. It would be interesting to know if opened APKs remain running in the background - have you discovered a way to check? Thanks once again Martin PS I’ve now discovered that alt+tab on the Bluetooth keyboard, reveals the running APKs.
Hi, Can this connect to the internet (via the inbuilt chromcast) without being plugged into a router? My router is upstairs and my TV downstairs so I an't connect the TV to the router.
I'd bought this other week. Really good but bbc iplayer whouldnt work aswell. On google others had same issue. I had to side load it from different site and now works. Equally I've sidelined many tv movies apps that you can get on android boxes. All work well as they should. So remember this box can side load aswell . Enjoy. .
I bought this Humax Aura a couple of weeks ago and it is BAD! I live in an area with excellent signal strength and quality when viewing Freeview on my smart TV. The Humax box is a different issue. The freeview channels frequently show blocks/pixelisation when there’s a lot happening in the image and this is shown on live tv and recordings. I have tried resetting the box, rescanning the channels and using different combinations of HDMI resolution and Display format in the Humax Aura Audio & Video settings but nothing improves the poor picture quality. I have even looped through the aerial signal to a second Freeview TV and can compare the Freeview picture quality from the Humax Aura with the live signal from the aerial on the other TV and the only picture problems I see are with the Humax Aura picture quality. I’ve emailed Humax customer support and have yet to get a reply… This box doesn’t look ready to be shipped! Very disappointing!

Also, this piece of crap keeps changing channels on its own, even while watching a recording. Needless to say, I am sending mine back. It is JUNK! Don't be taken in by the hype and the sales pitch. And you'll be waiting forever and a day for Humax to respond to emails, TERRIBLE customer service. I had the model before this too, with 1tb hard drive, and ended up stripping out the hard drive, and threw the box out of the upstairs window, because I got so FUCKstrated with it because it was so glitchy. More fool me for giving Humax another chance. They promise so much with this box, but it rarely delivers most of what it promises. I have just managed to get a full refund under warranty from the original seller, after Humax REFUSED to help in any way, because I didn't buy direct from them. Humax are DISGUSTING, so I would advise EVERYONE to steer well clear. Check out the Trustpilot reviews first. NEVER AGAIN, will I buy a Humax product, NEVER!!!

It's really quite fast in my opinion. When compared to my previous Humax Freesat box I'm really happy with it on that front. It's the fact that the Aura app still isn't available, and major Apps missing like Netflix and Now tv that are letting it down at the minute.
This or the manhattan? Kinda like the look of the manhattan TV guide were ya can go back aweek an watch and it puts all on demand in 1 place. But I like the lay out of the humax and it uses android. What do I get?
Today I bought a Humax aura and the remote is very different. No microphone and no prime,kids, google assist or top picks buttons. It does have On Demand and Netflix buttons though. Also the home and back buttons have been swapped. so far it all seems to be working.
Brought one of these when my Panasonic recorder failed. What an absolute load of rubbish never know when it’s going to switch off completely or stay on stand by. Remote recording via the app his hit and miss. Try to record BBC programs and it brings up iPlayer. Had to keep my now tv box so that I can get Netflix. There support team are as useful as a chocolate fire guard. There answer to every thing is switching it off and rebooting it, complete wast of money.
Was thinking of getting one as it sounds awesome on paper. But currently it seems to be a rubbish unfinished product that needs 6 months of fixing and updates to be useable. Shame
It's definitely usable for me. The DVR, Freeview features & free on demand/subscription apps are all decent, but nothing is really taking full advantage of its features and the Aura app missing is pretty disappointing 3 months after release.

It's says 16gb of storage but android says only 8gb it has , and them files are on the same drive so where is the rest of the 8gb , every system spec app says 8gb aswell

Im working on it 👍 well Humax said Netflix haven't yet signed up to the device. Contact Netflix & they say check the device list, so doesn't look promising.

My TV have Freeview play on it, i plugged in the aerial after putting a plug on when I got the TV last year just to see if it worked and then disconnected it again. It has been over 4 years since i last had a TV licence .
Bought this 2x years ago for the money NO the remote control was the worse part of this to many buttons plaus buttons hard to the touch,not like a lot of remote controls, no quality

Does it output 5.1 dolby digital for those programs that support it?
Sorry for the late reply, it does but not on Freeview content as that is only broadcast in stereo. 5.1 works in Apps such as Amazon etc

You can get a BT Sport monthly pass for £25, but it gives you access to the app, so your not able to record things the same as normal channels.

just a shame that Freeview is a load of rubbish and so to be honesty most of the stuff on these channels, this is why I refuse to buy a TV licence.
