    Honestly I think it made more sense for Banagher to pilot the Silver Bullet Suppressor instead of that modified Gundam MK-II. While Gundam NT wasn't a great movie, one of the things I did like was Banagher's use of a modified Silver Bullet to allow him to fire the Beam Magnum multiple times, rather than somehow acquiring a modified Gundam Mk-II. The Mineva Faction Banagher is working for doesn't have access to mobile suit R&D or manufacturing, and the Unicorn Gundam is way too high-profile of a machine to be used in their operations, so they're saving it in storage for emergencies only. However, since they're based in the former Vist Foundation's Magallanica, they would have access to the Vist Foundation's resources, which would include Silver Bullets. Silver Bullets should be designed to be modified since the Vist Foundation had been using them as testbeds for new technologies, and since the Silver Bullets' arms also function as Incoms, it'd be reasonable to assume the Vist Foundation would have a lot of spare Silver Bullet arms on hand to speed up maintenance and replace any damaged components between tests. The Silver Bullet Suppressor is intended to be a long range fire support MS that is only meant to be used in scenarios that require heavy firepower. The Beam Magnum itself offers insanely potent firepower in a small package, which makes it easy to transport without drawing too much attention. This makes the Silver Bullet Suppressor the perfect machine to meet the needs of Banagher and the Mineva Faction, and the logistics of how he'd acquire this machine come together a lot more smoothly than however he acquired that Gundam Mk-II and the modifications process that was done to it.

She could fight in it to an extent because she was a skilled test pilot but was no where close to using it to it's full potential. There are other times, like some of the Mobile Armors and early Newtype machines during the OYW that needed multiple crew members to use everything, but could be operated better by a single Newtype than a three man crew, or the in the Gryps Conflict with the Psycho Gundam barely able to move with an Oldtype pilot.

      Yeah MKII hits a sweet spot between looking similar-ish to the grandaddy while sporting enough upgrades to be visually futuristic. The more angular and slim Hyaku Shiki and Zeta are futuristic as well but they lack much resemblance to grandaddy. Meanwhile, grandaddy is iconic but I don't think it's controversial to criticize it as too simplistic by modern standards to come across as futuristic. That's all my long-winded way of saying that I feel the MKII has a timeless quality that doesn't always apply to the various Gundams.

    • @magnatcleo2043
      @magnatcleo2043 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Beam guns are actually an offshoot of mega particle guns, the main difference is how they produce the beam. Mega particle guns draw energy directly from their power source, and condenses it into mega particles to fire. The problem is that it takes a lot of power and charging time to fire, which means that most mobile suits can't use them. Beam guns basically come prepackaged with condensed energy, and only need a little extra from the power source to fire the beam. This makes it less power draining for the vehicle/mobile suit it's attached to and eliminates most of the charge time.
      The main difference between a beam rifle and a beam spray gun is how narrow the beam is. Beam spray guns are like shotguns, with a wider spread of particles, hence the spray part of the name. Beam rifles have a much narrower focus, which makes them more powerful and accurate over longer distances due to all the energy being more focused in one spot.

    The mark 2 basically gives me 2 things to think about the first of which is your main character from unicorn refuses to let go of the beam magnum even when he's not even using the unicorn anymore, like seriously I think he treats that like it was Audrey and the second thing is we do have female pilots that can hold their own in a gundam with the main examples being Emma and Elle. But the whole mystery surrounding where the hell do all these extra mark 2's come from really does ring home the fact that okay so we know where these 3 came from but we don't know where the other 1s where afterwards. It's like a huge mess but it is fun to theory craft at times.

    QOTW: In the Cosmic Era, what powerplants/reactors do warships use? Most spacecraft in Gundam works use nuclear reactors, but by the First Bloody Valentine war, these would be inoperable due N-Jammers.
    I have some ideas.
    1. Hybrid Nuclear/Battery- Ships run off Nuclear when possible, but switch to batteries when in range of NJammers. Issue is that every faction (Earth Alliance, ZAFT, Orb ect) would have needed to design, test, manufacture, and implement such a system in only a couple of weeks, and ZAFT could have had absolute dominance in the meantime
    2. Exotic- Antimatter or similar non-nuclear. Problem is both the energy crisis on earth, and it would need to be small enough for a warship but too large for a mobile suit/mobile armor. Also an alternative (proven) power source would seemingly be quicker to implement in the civilian sector than digging out N-jammers.
    3. They still use Nuclear reactors, but shielding resists N-Jammers enough to power warships. Issue is that the Earth still has an energy crisis. It would be relatively easy to reconfigure civilian reactors to warship standards, at least easier than digging out N-jammers.

    The Mark II is definitely my favorite U.C. Mobile suit second only to the Nu. Interesting to see what happened to them. One thing I like to believe is that it’s likely that the Titans made more than 4 units as the Mark II was meant for mass production, so it’s likely they were rolled out after the initial 4 or were already built and tested somewhere else while the 3 known ones were sent to Green Noa

    The MG Build MKII had a ‘unit 6’ sticker included, which sounds like acknowledgment of a unit 5.

    It makes more sense for unit's 1 & 3 to be the most current fielded units because the repair cost for either of the others would be to high. They might be able to cobble 1 from the two junkers but they could also rely on retrofitting GM 3 parts for the mrk 2's.

    Arguably speaking, the Gundam MK-IIs were so repairable because they were made out of mass production materials, and Anaheim was already reproducing their parts. So AEUG mechanics were likely able to patch them up with parts and materials on hand. Also, it's a shame you mentioned the GM III, but not the Nemo Rimes, which was also developed from the MK-II's data.

    • @TheObservantGent
      @TheObservantGent 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To my knowledge, the Mk.II, Shiki, and Zeta were put into storage. In a manga during Char's counterattack, Amuro asked Bright why they couldn't access the Zeta or Shiki. Bright responded that they were deemed as "nuclear level threat" weapons and sealed away by high fed officials. It was a decision that wouldn't be overturned. The ZZ was taken on the Jupitris with Judau.

    • @shindoushuichi0287
      @shindoushuichi0287 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheObservantGent well considering the time jump between the Grips War and CC it's not like the zeta was top of the line anymore anyway. But still. If we take into account "New Translations" recon, why wasn't Kamille involved in CC or in the Unicorn incidents? I'll accept that the ZZ team probably couldn't make it back for CC but definitely by Unicorn. Or hell where is Kou from the GP Gundam team in all this? Was he absorbed into the Titans? He was enough of an emotional baby for them.
      I wish they would take the time to do a "where are they now" for more than just the original One Year war characters. Hell Sayla got completely forgotten about.

    • @TheObservantGent
      @TheObservantGent 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @shindoushuichi0287 Fair point regarding the Zeta. I misunderstood on what you were referring to by "Gundam team". As far as the Zeta translation, that seemed like an alternate ending. After what happened to Kamille throughout the Zeta series, it's understandable why he wouldn't be in a hurry to get involved in another war. He is an experienced pilot, but he isn't a war monger. Same with Kou, he was lucky to be discharged instead of court-martialled since the GP series was erased and didn't "exist". Imagine being a gundam pilot trying to do the morally right thing only to face potential execution by the military you're serving. In my opinion, Kou got a second chance to live and didn't look back. It would be cool if the charges were dropped and he came back as a more mature and experienced pilot though. As far as the other mentioned characters, I'm sure most of them made some kind of cameo s in manga.

    There is a fourth Gundam MK II used by the Anaheim not listed. If you look at the Episode where they receive the G-defensor the Anaheim transport ship has a gundam MK II that is painted in Nemo colors. The prevailing theory is that this unit is made from Anaheim reproduction parts, because even with 3 units they needed to manufacture their own parts for the MK II to keep up with repairs.

    Maintainability is more important than most people think. That's why you still see Soviet T-55's still in service. You can keep them going forever,
    I'm wondering if they actually had assigned pilots for the test program. Most militaries operate in a way that a pilot is assigned per flight, they don't really do the "This pilot is assigned to this aircraft" for the most part. It does happen, but rarely. So Emma not being the pilot chasing Char is likely. Though, she was fairly new, and newer pilots tend to not really think things through and do stupid things. But using a vulcan on a person always felt like a Jared thing to do.
    Personally, I'd have just lined up, gone full throttle, and reported a "Really big bird strike".

Plus the whole 4 being unlucky in Japan probably played a role in it’s absence.

    Well logically speaking. If they had 4 units altogether. All 4 would have spare replacement parts for each of them. Depending on how much they manage to manufacture.
