@@johnathan9291 is there such a thing as rank in the SASR? From what I remember of the training, SAS usually disregard their ranks until they fall back in with the general army reservists, etc.
I had a theory a while ago on why the navy seals have so many internal problems and drama. It's the selection process. All that's really being assessed is physical might and grit, leading to an accumulated culture that lacks strong values about respect and honor for both yourself an others. From everything I've watched, read, and studied, sfas is essentially a 3 week long job interview. Not just a ringer to test assess your physical and technical skills but to test your character when you're at your limit and beyond. The approach of "just don't quit" (assuming you are physically capable of the challenges. ofc it doesn't apply to some 115 pound teenager who cant do 20 pushups) doesn't apply half as much to sfas as it does to buds. There's a story in a book I'm reading called Ruck-up or Shut-up, very popular among aspiring 18Xs like myself, about a guy who was top of the class physically by FAR! Great leader too. First in every event, every march, etc. If you were put on his team you won the lottery. But towards the end, him and his team strapped their water cans to their rucks which was a clear violation of the events rules. One of his team members pointed that out and he said something along the lines of "Don't worry about it, I'll take the hit" thinking his physical lead would make up for the infraction. He was a 21 day non-select. Later he asked why and they asked him to remember what he said about taking the hit. That was the hit. That story stands as a true testament to the phrase "Green Berets aren't looking for the *'best'* people, they look for the *'right'* people." and how seriously that metric is taken. I think if the seals restructured they're pipeline to incorporate that kind of methodology they would save their whole component from becoming obsolete. The transition would be rough and there would be pushback but in the long run, I can't see how they wouldn't benefit. What do you think?
It always took me a few miles of just walking to get to the point where jogging felt just as tiring as walking and thats when I was able to keep a steady jog for long periods if time

Just got to work on those hip flexors and hamstrings. Raise the knee to chest height and extent the foot at rapid pace while the foot is perpendicular to the ground while in you're strongest voice letting them know that "THIS. IS. SPARTA!" But no heads and hands please. That's for elected members of parliament.
What about South African Recces Selection? Allegedly, this is widely considered the hardest selection in the entire world. They supposedly have a pass rate possibly even lower than even Delta Force.
Based upon the old Selous Scouts selection which SAS guys had failed. But "still not as hard as Scout Selection" is the quote I repeat from a bloke I met in Afghanistan who, as it happens, had completed both. Don't worry, he was vetted and yes, was a graduate of the last Scout Selection before Rhodesia went balls up. So I take his word for it.

@iiwidowla99lambo65 if you can pull 3 years of Spanish in HS, you'll be good to go. The language course is drinking from a fire hose. If you can afford to get into a BJJ around you, take that on too, if not this is where wrestling doubles down.
as an Aussie born and bred in the stinking hot outback, the NZ SAS selection looks harder to me. its a shorter course but they get absolutely thrashed. The heat is a big factor in AUS selection but for alot of the Aussies, it's all they know. That might be the reason the Aus SAS was selected to be first men into the desert of Iraq 2003.
