“You and your fellow passengers are one big happy family.” I’m doubtful a cross-country bus trip could ever be described as “happy” 😂
70 years ago things, especially people, were a lot different. Only the wealthy could afford to fly. Train travel could be a bit expensive too. So many middle class people traveled by bus.
Of course today, only the lower class, dregs of society and certain immigrants travel by bus.
It was back then the scenery must if been so much more beautiful back then ❤
@@chrisv.4071 How could a baby enjoy the scenery?
I came back from Minnesota by Greyhound to California in 2018 and I enjoyed the people I rode with😅
Lucy's facial expressions are so expressive! Just brilliant.
The best. She was a genius
I love the part when Ricky said " it's all my fault it was something I said that started this whole thing!!! Lucy replied what you said!?? Ricky replied "I do!! Priceless!!!!
I love this episode!!
Ricky " Lucy you know this is all my fault, something I said that started this whole thing"!!
Lucy " what you say"!?
Ricky " I do"!!!
Priceless!!!!
I still love Lucy, Ricky is so patient, so now they get the great car Fred buys😊😊
1923 cadillac convertible
@@LindaMerchant-bq2hp Even though Ricky didn't want it, I'd LOVE to have that car today. it just needed paint and a few other things but it ran excellent.
Watching I Love Lucy brings back memories of my childhood. I still enjoy these episodes to this day.
Ethel moping around the apartment like a sick cat
Lucy was a great actress and a strong women‼️♥️♥️♥️♥️
People often forget how funny Desi was.
“Look Lucy, I will happily carry you and little Ricky piggy back if you’ll just make up your mind, now once and for all what is it going to be, plane train or bus? Have you made up your mind”
“Yes”
“Well?”
“We’ll go by car”😂😂😂😂
Lucy and Ricky arguing about a Cadillac convertible! LOL
Desi Arnaz actually had a Cadillac. It wasn't a convertible though. I think it was a 1952 or 53. Lucy DID have a Cadillac convertible at the time. It was a 1955 and it was yellow.
Isn't that the same dress she wears on the train ride home?
It sure is!
Since Desi and Lucy owned the studio and produced the show themselves and had to pay out of their own pockets to use film because CBS would not pay, they cut costs wherever they could. Most of the clothes we see her wear on the show are Lucy's actual clothes from her closets at home. This cut down on the costs of having a wardrobe.
@@retroguy9494 That makes sense, but you think non fiction and fiction Lucy would have worn the same fashion being from different classes and also living in different climates?
Honestly I don't know how the character could afford some of her outfits on her modest budget?
@@garrettsaurer8652 Well, you have to bear in mind that 70 years ago before all this global warming that Hollywood DID in fact experience periods of cold weather, especially at night. For instance, look at the still photographs from the night David O Selznick shot the 'burning of Atlanta' footage on the back lot for Gone With The Wind. Everyone is wearing heavy winter coats. That was on December 10, 1938. Desilu Studios was of course the old Selznick Studios. So yes, I do think that Lucy would have clothing for the cooler days which would also suffice for winters in New York City.
Regarding affordability, that was an aspect of the show which in some instances made no sense to me. On one hand, Ricky was the headliner in a New York City nightclub so he would have made excellent money. Plus he eventually starred in a Hollywood movie and made enough money to buy and own the Tropicana. Yet, he was always complaining about money and Lucy would be overdrawn at the bank or be months behind in the household bills. Plus, they lived in that tiny apartment back when rents in New York City were quite affordable. But yet, she always DID have nice clothes. I remember one episode where she bought a new hat and Desi flipped out over the price which was $49.50. $49.50 in 1954 is like $507 today! That is just an insane price for a hat unless maybe you're Queen Elizabeth! LOL
@@garrettsaurer8652 Well, for all Ricky's rantings about Lucy overspending, the Ricardos don't seem to have money troubles; plus, Ricky slowly climbs up the ranks from being a band-leader to owning a night club, so it can deduced that Ricky makes pretty good money, thus justifying Lucy's wardrobe.
Cadillac got a lot of mention in this episode
