    Dude the detail in that harbor is absolutely insane. To add some color to the walls without making the scene too overwhelming I'd recommend some wooden poles for a nice rustic look. I also think you should make a beach somewhere in your city, possibly next too the harbor on the other side of the shorter table

    I would recommend making small waves instead of leaving the water flat. Just some plates to make elevation difference under the translucent tiles

      Wow, that sounds fire. (Or should I say, water?) it gives also more movement to the city. Maybe though it’s better to wait until he sees everything together with ships etc.

    I live in a quite large European port city (Gothenburg) and some ideas for your port section would be making the railing out of chain strung between concrete columns (most of the railing near the docs here is made that way) and another thing would be not adding railing to the stairs and if you do, only the top platform should have it. I rarely see railings at the stairs around the port where I live. Another idea for the cross section you mentioned would be a wave absorber. Most docks facing the ocean has an area that goes under the docks, like a room with openings towards the water at or just under the waterline. It's purpose is to absorb the energy from the waves so they don't violently splash up on dock workers in rough weather. This area are usually also the area connected to rainwater dumps. Just a few ideas I can mention that are common in the area I live :)
    Either way I think this build is fantastic and I always dreamed of doing this as a kid, I guess I'll settle with watching your videos. It is very entertaining :)

    • @LynnLeFey1
      @LynnLeFey1 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd also be interested in seeing the chain railing. I think that would look amazing.

    I would recommend some kind of very small, simple crane for cargo loading/unloading between the lower docks and the higher market. Mainly because the stairs between the two are so narrow.

    If you're still taking ideas, and someone who used to visit a lot of harbor towns in New Jersey and Savannah Georgia and now lives in Florida, I think some sort of bait or fishing shop is a perfect addition as many harbors that I've been to have some way to get a little bit of gear for a fishing voyage. I think it would be a good opportunity to break up how flat it is and maybe you could try to inset it into the harbor so that it's halfway between the city and the harbor floor.

  • @XUM4N

    Adding 2D sediment layers as well as some “hidden infrastructure” visible from the front would be an absolutely amazing thing to do for that front gap you created.

  • @fret2442
    @fret2442 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Loving the progress! Your city is amazing. When you were experimenting with the water, did you try having any 1x2 trans-light blue plates underneath the flat tiles? Currently I think the black plate shows through a bit too much and the lines around the edge of the flat tile (where it's thicker) make the water look kind of noisy. Potentially having a layer of trans-light blue plates beneath the tiles could help soften the contrast between the black and the blue, and also make the water look much deeper (since it would be two layers of transparent pieces.)

    Regarding the tan in the walls, use a small section of that with some workman around it to represent repairs being undertaken to the wall, in a section where it will be quiter. Breaks up the grey in an area, without being overwhelming.

    Great! But the light gray wall is really too light gray, and the figures do not save it. There is a suggestion: replace some of the round studs with gray ones, but with a darker shade.
    About the color of the water: maybe lay out transparent blue not in 1, but in 2 layers? Add a couple of green ones among them in the lower layer.

  • @TurtleBurger681
    @TurtleBurger681 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think the fence around the harbour and down the stairs should be made out of chains (not chain link, but an actual chain) nailed into logs, this is more realistic and actuate to real harbours.
    And I think the sewer idea is fantastic! You could have a faux extension that looks like it leads towards the rest of the city and the section on the front can lead to (or at least looks like it leads to) a sewer cover next to the farmland, possible also "connecting" an outhouse to the sewer line.
    Also I still think you should add some graffiti/street art on the walls and sidewalks that have a large area of just one colour. Even custom printed bricks would add a ton of detail, however I really want to see more people make custom graffiti art with lego. It is built similar to how you made the wet areas on the harbour, just with brighter colours and obviously it would spell out a word or make an image or something.

Those are too tiny for that spot and I would add a bigger ones also for story telling. Usually harbors are old and that would simulate older trees placed when the harbor was “made” in the past.
    Plus, I still push the submarine scene. If you need to reach you legos underneath the table you can still use a scuba to go underwater
