    It’s funny how your pronunciation based on the instructions is actually not bad 😄

      Yes, better than the presenter 😂

      The pronunciation was really good I think. This is very funny but gets lost a bit in the err, translation??!

    This is multi-layered humour! The teacher speaks with a fake English accent. The backdrop is a bunch of stereotypes about Sweden. The words and phrases seems to be somewhat ... random. The English phonetic writing looks really crazy to us Swedes, but you prove that it actually works. Everything is a just a bit off, so in the end I am not sure if this is a joke about Americans trying to learn Swedish or a joke about Swedes teaching foreigners useless phrases in Swedish. It seems to be both at the same time!

    This is more fun for us Swedes :) The phonetic spelling brings out an aha-experience when revealed, it's words that sound very swenglish and therefore could be used in a Swedish learning environment for English speaking folks but most funny when you know the Swedish words.

    2:49 He is funny because he put in some ”useful” tips like ”remember guys the word svettkörtel (swet gland) is not a word you use every day”. 😂😂🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪

    You are adding a layer to the joke Mert! 🙂 The joke is that the presenter speaks with a heavy English accent. And the phonemes instruct you to speak with that accent. Funny enough it sort of works for you.

    So awesome, and i havent seen hiphip in ages. You are doing great👍. An English friend of mine learned raggsockar, knäckebröd and jordgubbar last week. Which would be a pair of thick wollen socks and knäckebröd is a flat hard and crispy bread, jordgubbar is strawberries 😁 i really enjoy your videos.

    Pjäsförfattare was my favorite. It means playwriter. Strindberg is perhaps mostly famous for Miss Julie. Even seen a South African version. The subject is universal.

    He is a parody of Dennis Gotobed who did english for beginners at swedish schoolTV in the seventies (my believe).

    • @MrMichaelLundberg
      @MrMichaelLundberg 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I remember Dennis Gotobed and his English courses on TV. My grandmother tried very hard to learn English from him. She did not succeed. But she tried hard which was impressive, she was born 1918 and was already rather old, but still curious.

    I've got a small leaflet somewhere that's a repro of one given to swedish immigrants that came to America in the 1800's. It's english spelt with standard swedish letters and when reading it, I always hear the voice of "Mike Higgins" inside my head.
    "Uällkåmm to jår njoh håm kanntri" :D

    I would say that this is mostly comedy for Swedish speakers.
    Kind of a parody of the Swedish language.

    Dont take the pronounceation too serious since he is is also making parody on an english person pronounciating Swedish, so it is a double parody. 🤪

      @MrMichaelLundberg 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Exactly. He tries to sound like a British person speaking Swedish. So do not use this as training.

    This is based on an instruction booklet that was prepared for american soldiers during ww2 in case they had to go to an invaded Sweden.
    At least that was the story going around when this was made.

  • @m4em4e
    @m4em4e 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

    It is not really a show, but an education system for immigrant Swedes. SFI - Svenska För Invandrare. (Swedish For Immigrants).
    There is a controversial entertainment show called IFS - Invandrare För Svenskar (Immigrants For Swedes). It parodies the prejudices between different more or less integrated cultures in Sweden. It is pretty rough and sometimes it leads to some hurt feelings. :)

    It is as if an English native speaker that kind of know the language but hasn't quite got the pronunciation down yet taught a class. The "phonetic" writing is off a bit so it is even hard for swedish people to guess some times.

    The phonetics is actually pretty good and your pronunciation would (probably) be possible to understand. The comedy is basically that the examples are not really useful and get increasingly weirder.
    I think it is generally a parody of those day-time TV language courses that existed way back in the day of the 80s.

  • @herrbonk3635
    @herrbonk3635 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I belive it's mainly a parody of how english people living here would typically speak swedish.
    And also the bizarre random style of language learning shows in the 80s-ish.
    Funny to swedes. To brits, not so much.

  • @KungKokkos
    @KungKokkos 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

    For the love of god don't try to learn Swedish from this haha.. it's wrong on purpose 😅
    Best thing you can do to instantly improve at Swedish pronounciation as an English speaker is to learn that E at the end of a word is never silent, that goes for almost all languages btw.

    Your pronunciation is actually better in some cases, but he is supposed to be English so he doesnt pronounce it very well which is a part of the humor because it sounds funny, it does however very much sound like someone from England speaking Swedish.
