It seems like it would be in New England rather than California. It has that look. Is it in a wooded area? I've never been there and I'm planning a visit soon.
It is definitely a landscape not characteristic of southern california. More like norcal or oregon. It is part wooded, part farm and ranchland. well worth a visit. -WMM
Julian is known for its delicious apple pies, there other desserts are very good as well, but their apple pies are worth writing home about. If you want to spend a relaxing day just strolling through the town, I highly recommend Julian, I wouldn't call it a tourist trap, even though a lot of its revenue does come from tourists, but it's just a lovely little town to stroll through and enjoy some very delicious food. There's also the San Ysabel reservation before you get to Julian, I'm from the Barona Reservation which is about an hour or so from San Ysabel and Julian. It can get very cold in Julian, and it does snow up there.
I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO GO TO JULIAN CA HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT IT ACTUALLY I ALMOST WENT IN 2020 BUT DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC THE TRIP WAS CANCELLED, BUT STILL WANTING TO VISIT JULIAN CA KEPT THINKING OF THE PIES,AND APPLE PICKING.
After you watch this walk around town, join me on a drive in the nearby countryside here 👉 th-cam.com/video/aufPoUwqcZw/w-d-xo.html
Nice..I first learned about this place when I watched the movie "Sharpshooter " 2007, with James Remar. That's where it was filmed🍻
I was just there in April and we got a little snow ❤
I'm going to Julian in February for an intensive. Staying at the Blum House. Can't wait!
It's beautiful there. Make sure you get some pie! -WMM

Have fun! It's a great town and beautiful area. Doesn't feel like SoCal (in a good way).
Lovely place!
