Rio Ferdinand brings the names in. No one else. The other two lads and I don't mind Joel at all, aren't doing jack when it cones to attracting big names. It's all Rio..
I’ve supported West Ham since I was little. However, there was a week or two when I was 7 or 8 that I tried to swap to Liverpool. The reason it was only a week or two was seeing paolo Di canio and the the white Ronaldinho himself, joe Cole, playing for West Ham. Joe Cole was the player every kid could relate to. Step overs, rabonnas, flicks and tricks galore. All the things we tried on the school playground he was doing in the premier league. Baller.
There’s a reason why Arsenal never won champions leagues and multiple league titles in a row… it’s because they didn’t have the likes of O’Shea’s, Neville’s, Fletchers and Park’s… the likes of players Joel was slagging off 😌 those that can step in during a season, play and effect games and keep a winning thing going… football is a squad effort and these players were priceless…
I’m American from Florida where he was playing and I remember meeting him when I was 12. seemed like one of those people that had time for everyone. He gave me his signature and talked to me... small moment for him but I still remember yrs later how nice he was. I love these people who are real like that, cause its easy to come on something like this and give good impression
I used to see Joe Cole at USF St Pete in Florida when I was in Uni down there!! It was a pleasure being able to watch this legend train walking to classes ..it’s wild cuz rarely anyone at Uni knew him… 😓 smh
Thank you so much to Joe Cole and the 11 Foundation for supporting Future Youth Zone and allowing young people to have somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to!
That was fantastic, proper sound guy joe Cole. You get so much more out of players on this kind of a platform than you ever would on tv. Top work lads 👏
I remember when James Maddison first came through at Coventry and I said he reminded me of Joe Cole. I later found out that Steven Pressley, the Coventry manager at the time actually brought Joe Cole to Coventry on loan from Villa, to mainly act as a mentor to Maddison as he knew he was going to be a big player.
I was there for his debut in the FA cup against Swansea, during the warm up he got a standing ovation, what an incredible amount of pressure for a player before he has even kicked a ball for the first team. To be fair he can on and changed the game because of his positivity. Amazing.
Ballack was one of the unluckiest footballers in the world mate. He had to come up against Zidane in a champions league final and Ronaldo in the world cup final. He lost the league at Leverkusen on the last day. Was undone in the 2002 UCL final by a moment of magic by Zidane. He was the reason Germany even made it to the finals in that year's worldcup, scoring the only goal in the semi final. Lost another UCL final on penalties and then we all know that refereeing horror show against barca the next year.
Ballack at Leverkuesen and Munich, I agree with. Chelsea never saw the best of Michael Ballack. He was amongst the top 3 best players in the world at one stage
@@Ridz800 and at the International level Ballack was two levels above Lampard? So for Rio to say Lampard overall was a level above is nonsense. Looking after his mates. These podcasts will soon lose credibility if people like Rio can't remain impartial.
Funny saying imagine rocking up on Sunday and seeing Joe Cole. That’s exactly what happened I turn up on the pitch start warming up and I see Cole on my team! Highlight of my night 😂
had the pleasure of playing alongside David Boateng, a mutual teammate of Joe and myself, should have been pro, born in the same month as Joe and me -- he had a great a talent
Joe is probably my best player ever! Love the man on and off the pitch. He was very successful of course but I thought he could have been as good as Messi and that ‘mild’ ‘gentle’ question to Joe about him being ‘caged’ at Chelsea was probably such a good discussion with Joe. It was a balance between game control and just letting go his skill and particularly Jose who gave him so much carrot and stick but limited his ability. I saw one game at West Ham and Joe tackled a player on the floor jumped up and created an attack for West Ham to score from defence to attack. Genius. I’m a lifetime Chelsea fan from 1962 and yet I always thought he was a Hammer through and through and I was so happy to realise he was really a Chelsea boy. Carefree. KTBFFH 💙
For Joel. Phil Neville stats from 98/99 season:- 28 played (19 starts) total of 1800 minutes in Epl. 9 played (7 starts) total of 635 minutes in Ucl. Thats an integral contribution to a side that won the treble. U know why Arsenal cant finish top 4 last season even without the european competition ? Bcoz u dont have a phil neville in ur team to rotate when u have to play during the midweek in Epl. Ur ignorance is ur big flaw Joel.
37:34 Rate Joel for dropping names. Even when Rio and Steve tried to back their utd boys they still didn't address the fact that they weren't world class players. Tbf Wes Brown was class but Neville and O'shea saying that they played their "roles" in the club says it all for me 😅 Another great show! If young joe cole have played for Pep, or the spanish style, he would have been super amazing instead of that rigid england 442 or jose park the bus...... But hey he did still won trophies under jose.
Hes such a good dude Joe, but wish he would just say it, that Mourinho turned him into a role player when he was a genuine number 10 that could have been a world class key player for England, Hoddle saw rio as a sweeper in the beckanbauer mould and many say Joe as a brazilian argentninan style number 10.... he was never given that chance due to very rigid management at that time and often being stuck out on the left as he was the only player with the technical ability to adapt himself to do the job nobody else could do.
Put some respect to the names of some of the less heralded players from Man Utd's golden era. I said last season John o Shea was a better right back than wan Bissaka, a better centre back than Maguire, a better left back than Shaw and a better midfielder than Mctominay.
