    To put this in perspective, 2005 u20 World Cup, Nigeria lost to Argentina in the final. Messi led that Argentinian team and ultimately was awarded the best player in the tournament. Mikel played 10 for Nigeria and was awarded the the second best player in the tournament behind Messi. Mikel didn’t just give up a position he liked, he was one of the world’s best as a 10. His professionalism and commitment can never be doubted.

      I have always wondered what would have happenned if he stayed a 10. We can look at the trophies and yes he was successful but I was not happy with what Jose did and this is not about race but very few managers can trust our people as a 10/ Goalie but see us as work horses

      @@chuka6625 In the final, Mikel Obi was man of the match, and deservedly so. He literally dominated the midfield in that game and dictated the tempo of the game. The fact that Obi was willing to sacrfice being a natural number 10 to converting to a 6 is a testament to how dedicated he was to doing what was best for the team. Players these days would moan and force a move away the minute that happened. Takes a lot of humility to do that

As an African it's true, most African family's get so dependent and think you should feed them forever, rather than investing the money you give them to open businesses and provide for themselves they will just sit and wait for the monthly/weekly allowances. ludicrous! glad someone spoke about it. To counter your point, I know many people from poorer countries and their families don't hound them for money. In the instance of Mikel, if he were not a pro footballer would his family have to do without at get by like the rest of their community? I think so. Do you know that Money (or Meni as it was written) is an ancient false deity?? And you wonder why people get so obsessed with it?

    I keep seeing a lot of comments across the videos forgetting that Mikel was first team NOT a super sub lol. Across his 372 games for Chelsea he averaged 70 minutes a game. That was across his ENTIRE career at the club, and that would include when he was new to the club, as well as when he was frozen out by lets say Conte etc. Which means that at the peak of his powers in Chelsea, he would have been averaging 85 minutes + a game. The guy is so underrated than people are now forgetting he was actually a pivotal part of the team and not a sub. Crazy.

Did u hear Rio's reply messi played as a false 9 and often played in and around mikel's position, ronaldo didn't become the player he is today untill he got the freedom to roam freely like messi did. Ronaldo struggled against Ashley cole for one reason he doesn't like playing with his back to goal and ash was always aggressive and never allowed him turn. Not saying messi isn't great but his assessment was based on the fact messi played around him.

    • @Gray_xo
      @Gray_xo ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I disagree. Ive said this time and time again. The best player on the ball is Messi but when you want to win, you go with Ronaldo, period. But the main point I wanted to make is, if you literally take Messi's brain and put it in Ronaldos body, he would never be as good as 5 ft 7 Messi. There's literally nothing Ronaldo can do to ever move the ball around better than Messi. it's like asking a 5 ft 9 NBA player to win a dunking contest vs lebron james. Lots of ppl have GOAT lvl football IQ amongst the top ten players of all time but Ronaldos body can never let him move the ball around like Messi, same with r9s body, Zidane etc Now how tall is Messi? 5 ft 7, pele? 5 ft 7, Maradona 5 ft 5 (on the deficiency side).
      There's just no way cr7 can move that way. He's 6 ft 2. Being the best for me is simply your impact every time, in small games, in big games etc. I don't think you have to be the best on the ball to be the best but that's literally what ppl use to say Messi is better. The trophies, ballondors etc even stats are just icing on the cake. They prioritize movement only.
      Some ppl with low IQ will say, "what about r9, or Ibra etc" None of those players dribbled at a high level till retirement anywhere near Messi, Never moved anywhere like Messi. Im also not saying tall players can't dribble at all, but a tall player who can dribble, becomes better every single time if his heights reduced until deficiency levels like 5 ft 4 or 5 ft 5 or less…THAT IS A FACT. So it is unfortunate for Ronaldo but I still believe Ronaldo is better because when you want to win, he's THAT guy. A professional football player who is a Messi fan once said "Messi is the best player in the world but if I want to win, I go Ronaldo".

    • @fuaddanial2029
      @fuaddanial2029 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@Gray_xo your first point about if you want to win you choose Ronaldo is just wrong. If you look at head to head Classicos, which is the most important game for both Ronaldo and Messi at their peaks, Messi won more games, scored more goals, and was by far more important to the team than CR7 ever was. He played in a great RM team that won the CL even when he left. So this point that CR7 is a better winner is just wrong. And then you talk about how Messi's height means that you cannot give him the credit as the better footballer which is stupid, football is about intelligence with the ball, vision, dribbling, playmaking - thats what football is about. If you dont agree, then go watch Lebron dunk over players in the NBA. You cannot change the scales just because it makes CR7 look bad.. And just for record everyone who says Messi is better are players who played against him, Mikel, Lampard, Scholes, Rooney, Van Dijk, Robertson. Almost no professional player who played against both thinks CR7 is better.

    • @Gray_xo
      @Gray_xo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fuaddanial2029 Your rebuttal to being the better winner is complete rubbish.
      First off, Ronaldo scored in 6 consecutive el clasicos while Messi didn’t for 9 straight el clasicos which alone doesn't suggest Messi was by far anything. Now I agree that Messi was better head to head but that has literally 0 to do with who is the better winner. If one does better head to head but flops against other big teams, it doesn't make him a better winner lmao. What about all the other teams.
      Secondly, Barcelona won more games, not Messi and the Real Madrid you speak of that won the UCL, yes that was peak RM that Ronaldo only got to enjoy for 3 years, he would have won more ballondors and more.
      I'm not changing the scales, I literally agreed that if that's your criteria, then sure. Now, you are half right in saying football is about those things but it's also about GOALS and winning, I saw how you left that out conveniently. Now off what you described, you're basically saying once ordained to be 6 ft + you simply cant be better than Messi or Maradona which I won’t agree with. I also gave my props to Messi by mentioning his IQ. It's not just body, IQ matters too.
      Idc who says Messi is better, I have a mind of my own. 30+ years of football. Has any great footballer ever talked about the physics of height and its impact? no. We are allowed to think differently sir. When I was growing up as a kid, the best was simply the person that could dribble the most. We all grew up thinking that till I got older.
      There are players like Lampard who also said Ronaldo was better. Drogba, Ruud Guilt, Jan Aage, Frank Lebeouf but neither matters to me.

      @bryanmulisa3044 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Man I am CR7 and Manu fan from 2003 because of him but Brother let's be honest First: Messi 's beaten with CR7 us two times at UCL Finals ( 2009 and 2011) and Manu was strong during those years.
      Second : Messi is almost best player of all tournament he played while CR7 Great performance is only found in UCL
      Third: Do you even remember that Messi has more Goals if no penalties included? I mean in open play Messi beat CR7 in goal scoring. So what do you mean by saying that if you want to win you choose CR7.
      Man we love CR7 but let's not too biased. This debate went on 'cause he played for RM and Manu two teams with big fan base in the world but in reality it's never debatable Messi better than all else by far.

I'm sure that where we would have played if he would've gone to united. Probs to him Mikel man for all his trophies. I think he was underrated for that position mourinho made him played.
