    Introducing "SLIDJENT" lol! The first distorted riff I actually wrote a while back, for the second "Riffs and Beards" competition, but Fluff didn't pick me and I've been holding onto the riff for a worthy guitar ever since 🙃 Honestly, it's probably my favorite thing that I've ever written for the channel. Big thanks to Patrick Hunter for providing the J00CY bass for this one, sub to his 🍑here: th-cam.com/users/MrFuzzGuy

      If you've never heard of them, they're a band from my hometown of Birmingham, AL. Look up "Darkest of Kin" or really anything from their albums "II" or "III."

    You can play metal on any guitar, it might not be the "standard" metal guitar sound, but it'll work and might add some variety to the quickly becoming stale metal scene.

    • @RobbieTayVaughan
      @RobbieTayVaughan 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Stale is a good word. Older/niche subgenres like grind, hardcore, and elements of nu metal are making their way back. It's strange; the timeline and original influences that they originally came From, that got these styles started, is a much different path compared to how we've found our back. Maybe the younger age group's, with less influence through the years, are coming to prominence now, in this Metal is almost mainstream market, by "going back to their roots." dropping out of this derivitive, soulless, overt produced mess is predicted in every generational shift. Then boom eventually innovation

      Suffy tele player here as well. It’ll always confuse me how some players try to pigeonhole telecasters when it’s a pretty versatile guitar. The bridge in particular is basically begging to be distorted

    • @HearthVader
      @HearthVader 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Seriously. Not enough people realize just how nasty single coils can be for metal. That 1.6~k spike that djent guys pile on their tone is practically built in to most single coils. P90s and Tele bridge pickups are KILLER for metal. Listen to Wintersuns first album. A good chunk of that album was recorded on a Tele, and you can hear it

      these guitars are beasts , I have been using a Hohner Tele copy for 20+ years for metal (through 800's, 5150's various pedals includings Boneshaker, Grunge pedal, Stahlhammer, MXR superbadass, TRex Mudhoney, Bogner Ubderschall and many more) all with Tele's. The bridge pick ups are killer. I felt the same as Agusfish until I played mine (which I bought way back) and after falling in love with mine fell in love with the shape, now I'm Tele only and mostly singles

    Welcome to the club! My first guitar was a Made In Mexico Standard Telecaster and I’ve been hooked ever since. The Player Series is a perfect model for you. From what I understand the pickups are like Tele/P90 hybrids in terms of tone. They remind me a lot of the Seymour Duncan Hot for Tele set that live in my Standard. Plenty of chunk but still retains that classic Tele snap. I’m mostly a punk rock guy and the Telecaster was the best possible choice for my first guitar 10 years ago. Tele into a overdriven Marshall head is a beautiful thing.

    Fell in love with the sound of my Squier tele when I got it. "Single coils can do metal!", "It sounds better than my Epiphone with EMGs!"... turned out I only liked the single coil sound with old strings. As soon as I put on new strings I hated the twang for weeks. So I installed a Dimarzio Chopper T in the bridge and that's it.

    The metal plate around the bridge pup and the taller height (vs a normal single coil) are why it sounds so good for rock riffage. Punk guys have been using them for ages but it hasn't caught on in other hard rock genres for some reason. A lot of people don't realize that a tele bridge pup is not a standard single coil.

    I love everything from low gain Creedence to YOB and Sleep doom metal- and I always play a tele. Telecasters made me understand the importance of the tone knob. Once you start using it these guitars come to life!! A lot of vintage amps were pretty bright and I think the tone knob is the secret weapon to getting useful and pleasant tone out of these things. The bark of a tele bridge, there’s nothing like it!

    I wish Fender will send me a guitar as well😩 I visited GC many times and tried this Fender Tele Player, it is a great guitar, at first I thought single-coil might not give a powerful aggressive sound; nonetheless, it surprises me, I was using Boss Katana 50w Crunch with boost, and the sound just wow!! Nice video!

    Every kid who plays guitar thinks Tele's look dumb and sound lame. Then they get around 30 or older and suddenly have to have one.
    I got a butterscotch one with the black pickguard and maple neck. Love it.

      As a 28 year old about to purchase this guitar, and who previously criticised his friend's dad's red telecaster for looking boring and lifeless, I couldn't agree more and feel personally attacked.

      Happened to me too. Bought an SX Butterscotch model in my late 20s to put on my wall. Over a decade late it still hasn't made it to the wall. It gets played too often and started an addiction. There's just something about that tele tone.

      Wow you read my mind. I had a shitty strat I dumped it the second I got my hands on my Jackson kelly. Went on to own ltd’s Scheters and had a NT 7 at one point. After all these years .. I remember that shitty strat neck was SO damn comfortable... just ordered this exact model just in the black.. can’t wait .. and yes def getting old, looking forward to many years with my soon to be tele ! Keep rocking !

      That’s an interesting take. I’m 19 and the Telecaster is my favorite body. I love the way it looks. I’m not sure what “kids” you’re hanging around.

    My first tele was the Baja telecaster (if you can afford it buy it!) and I was never in love with telecasters my entire life. After buying one because I got a really great deal from sweetwater it’s become my number one guitar. I don’t know if it’s the simplicity of one volume and one tone knob or the crazy amount of sounds (the Baja Tele has 6 tonal options) I can get from 2 pickups but there’s just some kind of magic in that first solid body electric guitar. Leo did it right the first time

    Tele Bridge pick up is natural pick up for metal, noise gate may be required (may not depends what you are using and how you are dialing it), but with a little tone control roll off on the guitar the natural eq of the Tele bridge pick up is basically the same curve you get in mdern metal pick ups just scaled down in volume/output and of course with more noise, and less compression (so you get clarity even with saturation, great for down/low tunings drop C, B, A or whatever)
