Some NFL rivalries will never go away. We're talking Packers-Bears, Ravens-Steelers and even Giants-Eagles.
Every football fan loves a good rivalry. Fortunately, there are several compelling ones that are really starting to turn up. And they’ll hopefully replace some of the older rivalries that have totally died down.
Here are five NFL rivalries that are heating up, and five that are pretty much dead.

I say the Chargers-Chiefs rivary is starting to heat up because Herbert has played really well the last 3 times he played the Chiefs.

Joey Bosa, Tyrann Mathieu, Chris Jones, Patrick Mahomes, Mike Williams, Keenan Allen, Justin Hebert, Derwin James Sr., and Austin Ekeler teams are made by the players and coaches working together to win and to add to this Chargers and Chiefs fans have never really gotten along so there already friction between the fans

Bengals/Steelers is an amazing rivalry. Although the head to head isn't as competitive as some of these rivalries, the rivalry is deaply rooted between fans and players

I don’t see how the Cowboy Packer rivalry is “dead”. The past two post season games that they played each other in were very close, and those two teams are literally ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the conference. Dak Prescott and Aaron Rodgers are both having great seasons, and will likely play in the NFC championship. If it was ever dead, by the end of the year it will be alive again…

Ravens vs Dolphins is an underrated rivalry imo. Always surprises me how tough the play one another (with a few blowout exceptions here and there).

Vikings, Packer rivalry is something no one really talks about.
Also Viking vs Saints. Ever since the 2009 NFC Championship this has been a rivalry. Minneapolis miracle, bounty gate. I think that’s a rivalry.

Honestly I feel like the Vikings-packer rivalry is hotter than Chicago. Don't get me wrong both teams tough games to win. But I think because Chicago bears fans are seen more around me than Viking fans it gets overlooked. Lions... Well I feel bad because they're the jaguars of the North
With Drew Brees gone now, I expect the Saints and Falcons rivalry to heat up more.

It has been hot for decades though. As brees himself has said
The Jets-Patriots rivalry was heated between 2008-2012, particularly between 2009-2011. New York was actually a force to be reckoned with in 2010, and a number of people actually had them being a roadblock against New England after the Jets beat them in three out of five meetings (including the playoffs). The drama between Rex Ryan versus Belichick was all you’d hear about at one point, but now the spark died since the Jets are no longer competitive.
The Titans-Colts rivalry has picked up within the past decade. Indianapolis beat Tennessee eleven consecutive times in their meetings between 2011-2016, but now the numbers are suddenly in the Titans favor. Given how the Texans are likely going to be a dysfunctional mess for years to come, along with the Jaguars being a team guided by youth that lacks direction, I can see these two teams continuously being two dogs standing in each other’s way for a division title.

Chiefs/Raiders no matter how good or bad either team is playing has always been my favorite rivalry. Seems like every year Chiefs go to Raiders and win then the Raiders go to Chiefs and win with the division usually on the line.
Honestly, the Chargers/Raiders rivalry seems more dynamic. It seems like almost every meeting, the Chargers vs Raiders comes down to literally the last play. It hasn't been the same since they left San Diego and Oakland respectively, but there's still bad blood, namely when the Raiders come to LA. For some reason this rivalry always goes under the radar

I don’t know if it’s just me but the Browns vs the Ravens have been great games to watch. They feel intense and they usually always come down to the wire now. I feel like that rivalry is starting grow more and more especially with them about to play against each other in a very important game.

It’s one of the hotter rivalries in football. This person also said that the cardinals and rams would be the better teams in the long run, even though Buddha Baker is their only true star that has played for less than 5 years., so those guys are destined for a fallout. Also, just because one team has a worse record than the league average doesn’t make the rivalry bad.

The rivalry between the hawks and 9ers might be dead to the national media but I can assure you it's not dead to the fans. I was at the last game and all we wanted to do was beat the 49ers even tho we're not making the playoffs. I bet it's the same for most of these rivalries on this list.

There is no way you can say that the Ravens Patriots rivalry is dead, those 2 are probably going to play in Foxboro in the playoffs this year. And those 2 whenever they play are so evenly matched.
As a 49ers fan, it hurts seein the rivalry between the 9ers and Shitbirds die out has killed me. Every time they play, it's always a good ass game, win or lose. But again, as a 49ers fan, I have to give some respect to the Seahawks. Honestly heartbreaking seein my team's rival lose the Legion of Boom, Marshawn, and now here soon, Wilson.

I know that Russell Wilson doesn't seem happy, but can we at least wait for the season to end before we start talking about what team he MIGHT going to go to, if he even leaves at all. As a fan, it's really annoying and I don't want to think about it until the season ends. I feel the same way about Aaron Rodgers too.
Ravens vs Browns is a becoming a hotter rivalry

1 year later: Both finish below .500, Brady retires and Sean Payton goes to Denver.
Dead: SF and SEA. Also, LA and AZ are taking over this division.
1 year later: Both SF and SEA make the playoffs while LA and AZ fall off a cliff. SF and SEA even meet in the divisional round.
Bonus points for being back to back.
I would add in Bill's vs patriots if the trend of them trading wins continues.
Bills and Pats for sure. Neither teams were equally competitive at the same time until this year but with Allen and Jones now it's definitely going to heat up.
Also if the Dolphins build off of their strengths it'll be a fantastic 3 way rivalry. Poor Jets lol

The Battle of Ohio rivalry between the Bengals and Browns is heating up, you have the blowout loss by the browns this year but the bengals are still above the browns in the AFC North, these two teams could both possibly make it to the playoffs, unless the browns become the browns and choke, like they did against Detroit.
The browns are having a down year, but I think they will be good again next year and the rivalry will heat up again. Same with literally every rivalry the Raven have.

49ers Cowboys rivalry has been heating back up after that playoff game last year and with both teams now looking to make a run in the postseason. This was THE rivalry in the early 90s.

What about the Chargers and Raiders? Both teams may be inconsistent right now but they’re matchups are usually really good nowadays. Herbert vs Carr? Allen vs Waller? Crosby vs Bosa? The rivalry between the Chiefs and Chargers definitely takes the front seat but I wouldn’t count this one out.
The big rivalry that’s been heating up for a few years now is Houston vs. Media.

Packers Cowboys rivalry is a rivalry of streaks. For instance Dallas during the Favre era and Rodgers 1st season was 11-2 against GB since it swung back 8-1 back to GB.
It’s kinda sad how many of these guys retired or got traded. 2014 was my favorite football year

Titans/Ravens has some history to it with both teams screwing the other at the least expected times.
49ers/seahawks rivalry is still hot. After 2019, its still hot as ever. These games have been decided by either 3 or 7 points since 2018. Its coming back

Intra-divisional rivalries are always hot. It's the inter-divisional/conference rivalries that are interesting.

I never got the hype around Bears vs Packers. Yeah it’s the oldest rivalry but I’ve been around Packers fans and while Bears fans hate the Pack I’d say most years Minnesota is a thorn in there spine. Yeah on the rare occasion the Bears are weirdly good Packers vs Bears is a big deal, but even when Minnesota is bad they are still always a problem for the Packers. It’s a stronger rivalry if I’m being honest.
49er vs Cardinals is a good to look for moving on niners swept the Cardinals two seasons ago last year they split and this year cardinals swept the 49ers it’s gonna get interesting when Trey Lance starts

Chiefs and Ravens are Heating up so do the Bills and the Patriots. Last season no match bills win but this season I could tell Mac Jones is doing better then Cam Newton.
The Steelers vs Ravens rivalry is easily one of, if not the best rivalry in NFL history, especially during the late 2000’s, early 2010’s.
I say Colts Titans I know the Colts loss both games but the last few years it been back and forth between theses AFC south opponents.

So for Packers-Rams rivalry you show 3 highlights from their last meeting. Sack of Rodgers, long TD pass for Rams, and Donald stuffing Dillon on short run. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought the Rams dominated that game

A few more big rivalries which I’ve noticed are gaining heat right now:
Browns-Ravens-Bengals: All three of these teams are going to have a heated rivalries against one-another for seasons to come. For a while, the Ravens didn’t even care about either team since neither the Browns or the Bengals were an immediate threat to them. The Steelers could very well join this list.
Bills versus the Dolphins: Why can’t they schedule these teams to play on prime time football again? Let’s revisit the 80s again with this rivalry! In all seriousness, the Bills will be a force to reckon with for years to come, and the Dolphins are on the rise. Even though the Bills record against the Dolphins since Sean McDermott became the head coach is 9-1, I do imagine that splitting will eventually become the normal for these two rivals.
Titans versus the Bills: I imagine that this rivalry will gain copious amounts of focus, and I predict that they’ll meet each other in the playoffs at least once or twice. Ryan Tannehill is one of the few quarterbacks who the Bills defense hates playing against right now, and Mike Vrabel is Sean’s kryptonite.
The Washington Football team versus the Philadelphia Eagles-Washington has surprisingly moved up in the NFC East, and the same appears to be the case for Philadelphia. In the long run, I can picture their being some exciting games between both of them.

Raiders-Chargers! After the last regular season game they had? When they were both going to play for a tie to get into the playoffs but then decided not too! When Brandon Staley took that timeout. and then the Raiders knocked them out with the field goal that was a great game!

When you mentioned long standing rivalries, you said Eagles and Giants. I disagree. Sure they’re on paper as divisional rivals, but Eagles and Cowboys is the true divisional rivalry! Tickets to Eagles v Cowboys at the Linc cost more than virtually any other game on resale value! It’s clear that Dallas is the true rival to Philadelphia!

One I never see talked about is Broncos-Raiders. It's not heating up or dying out. It's been intense for as long as I can remember. But nobody seems to talk about it like ever.

Heating Up: Arizona Cardinals vs Green Bay Packers
Dead: Arizona Cardinals vs Seattle Seahawks

I think this because they both are the two most talented teams in he nfc and they have met on prime time in week 1 in the last two seasons. also, with brady especially the cowboys are rivals with him
the rams and 49ers seem to have heat!! idk but there always seems to be a lot of smoke when they play each other. when he rams and 49ers played each other in 2021, every game seemed to be a must win. even if it was not and far from it!
I would say Jets and Pats Fizzled huge. Between 09-15, the jets would make the series somewhat competitive, tying the season series 1 apiece, even though during that time, everyone knew who would win the division title, and since Rex Ryan left, as much of a loudmouth he was, the competitiveness wasn't the same, which was never really a surprise. But heating up would be Pats and dolphins, because they would really give the Pats a run for their money, especially when the Patriots go play them in South Beach, so it will be interesting to see how things play out between them in the future
