Still listening to Piñata in 2022 going on 2023. My favorite Hip Hop album from that entire decade. I can listen to this album front to back with no skips.
@Ignat Intellect did you listend to the album? Personally I don't think we need gate keeping in hip hop all of them can exist and still be quality work. We should just be against lazy bullshit.
Ryan Mccreadie for me personally yes. but only because the soulful beats were done really well, and it seems like i am always in a mood to listen to it. I love Run the jewels 2 tho...and when i am ready to get hype and some adrenaline flowing that album is on repeat.
i notice alot of people weren't big fans of Gibbs but still loved this. If you're looking for more of this style by Gibbs check the mixtapes Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs, Midwestgangstaboxframecadilllacmusic, and Str8 Killa No Filla for more of the spitter Freddie Gibbs
AFunkyDiabetic man I see you all over these classic reviews haha you should show your musical side on your main channel or create a new one. Would love to hear your take on music as well as basketball haha
It's the most accessible Madlib project I've ever heard. Not necessarily in a bad way. For an artist as experimental as Madlib, just using standard song length, and toning down on skits comes across as refreshing for him. As much as I love Madlib's more experimental projects like the Med Show series. High, Shitsville, Thuggin, Uno, and Robes are my highlights.
I have piñata, Run the jewels 2, Cilvia Demo, Searching Sylvan, The Water[s], Dark Comedy, and CLPPNG tied at #1 LMAO I can't decide on which one I like the best!
MH DOOM I made once a list of my fav albums of the decade so far (2010-present) for a little presentation in my school, and I put Clppng on the #6 spot
I agree with everything ya'll said. You're right they should do at least one more project together. I'd like to say this though. Freddie Gibbs has to me been established his artistry before this, it just took a different sound to appeal to an audience who's used to a different frequency.
Totally agree. Gibbs been spitting like this for years. But when he was with Jeezy he was trying to appeal to Jeezy's audience with trap beats/sound. Before 2011 all of Freddie's mixtapes werent as trap influenced like Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs, MWBFCM, Labels Tryna Kill Me, etc. I think Gibbs was waiting for the right opportunity to make a really cohesive album. With his popularity increasing significantly the last few years and having the choice of madlib beats.... it was just a perfect scenario for Freddie Gibbs to make a truly focused project. Wouldn't have made sense to put forth this type of effort with mediocre production and no spotlight for anyone to notice. Been reppin Gibbs since 2010
Exactly. Realistically the project has been promoted for almost two years now. Sometimes subliminally, sometimes more blatant I think folks caught on eventually. I just don't want folks to get it twisted, before Pinata. I was bumping Gibb's; "Cold day in Hell', "ESGN", "Straight Killa No fIll", & "Baby Face Killa". Funny thing was as much as I liked it and I knew he had a humble following, my friends just wasn't on to it. So I guess you really have to be of that certain caliber to really feel his music and this is what makes legendary artists. They make music people feel is special to them and their situation.
Can't agree more with you guys. But it is going to be kind of irritating how a lot of the backpackers will now ride his dick and claim Madlib made him.
Fresh2Def1989 lol, I know right. I still havent heard the whole thing yet. Ya'll think they're going to make like a group. That would be dope. That would really be like original hip hop when it was,The MC and the DJ. Wow.
I mean, I would love for them to do it but I can understand if they don't do it. If you leave it like this, we craving for more but you leave such a big impact and major mystique on the project itself.
bout goddamn time this review got posted. i've been a fan of freddie since 2010 and im very pleased to see freddie and madlib drop a spectacular album together. hopefully this album will get freddie more recognition and props as a dope artist.
Myke said the same thing i was thinking. I thought freddie gibbs was aiight but i didn't care for his music that much BUT THIS SHIIT... This blew me the fuck away and this is one of my favorite projects of this year so far. Freddie Gibbs got a new fan 4 sure
Peter Griffin No. I wasn't comparing the 3. Just saying I think they're 3 really dope projects (I do think Pinata is the dopest out of them) of the month
i agree with Feefo its time for Freddie Gibbs to stop with that dissing Jeezy shit until Jeezy responds. It's pointless after this if he doesn't get shit back.
Carlo de Oliveira Silvestre Not entirely 100% sure on this but it Gibbs was signed to Jeezys label-CTE World- and Jeezy was fucking him around fucking with his money and not releasing his shit. Again I don't really know the details but it is a fact that Gibbs being on Jeezys label is a part of a beef
Carlo de Oliveira Silvestre Jeezy signed Gibbs and was just holding him on the label he did nothing for him when he was signed. Sure he put him on a couple songs but it wasn't anything Gibbs couldn't do alone. So it was basically just a waste of Gibbs time so he left the label and just pissed about the whole situation. He also used to look up to Jeezy until he got around him and realized how fake he was.
Carlo de Oliveira Silvestre Artist sign other artist and they get put on the shelf. Why sign somebody and don't promote them??? Gibbs wasn't hating on Jeezy. It was just bad business on Jeezy's part. I'd be mad too.
they didn't even talk about my favorite track lakers! but i love the whole album. it's definitely one of the best albums of 2014 so far. its going to be a good year for music
Looking through Feefo's liked videos and seeing that he liked a video showing how to roll a cone joint. Along with the hat this automatically makes Feefo my favourite
Pinãta is DOPE. My Krazy Life is dope too, though. They're completely different and shouldn't really even be compared unless its just about quality. And they're both HIGH quality projects.
It’s literally on the level of TPAB, Madvilliany, and all the other perfect hip-hop albums. Songs like Shitsville, Harold’s, Thuggin, High, Deeper, Uno & Robes, as well as the rest of the project, are some of the best beats ever conceived with such chill vocals and intricate lyrics from Freddie. I fell in love with the album many years ago and haven’t stopped listening since.
This shit is damn near perfect to me. The production, Freddie Gibbs and the guests were on point. The skits were dope and the interlude where Gibbs talked about the deal Jeezy gave him at the end of Robes I think was funny as hell. The only thing I don't like about this shit is Mac Miller's verse on the last track. I mean, it wasn't wack and I like Mac Miller, but he sounded soft as fuck after Meech. It's like a lion roaring followed by a little baby's first words. All in all, Pinata was dope, it bumps in the whip and all that shit. #albumoftheyear #yeahisaidit
I didn't like this album much initially, but it quickly grew on me. There are a lot of good tracks on here like Real, Shame, Scarface, High and Thuggin just to name a couple. I'm not normally a fan of Freddie Gibbs, but he goes well with Madlib's production.
Really enjoyed this project. I'll be straightforward, I can't relate to most of what Gibbs talks about in his songs, especially when his lyrics are centered around his street life that made him who he is now, but I can't pick out one bad song from the album because Gibbs, whether you can relate to him or not, to me is the true definition of street poetry, and this is what this album is all about. I can't relate to what he says, but it makes sense to me because he writes about what encompasses him every day.
This project really had a 90's gangsta rap feeling to it, on this project freddie diden't just go in, he tore it up! This wasen't really my introduction to freddie... i like him as a rapper cause he lives and breathes hiphop but he never cracked my top 5 or top 10 with any of his projects but this one is different... This is gangsta rap at it's finest and madlibs production was amazing, the beats really brought out the best out of freddie Gibbs, the beats were pretty simple but they were flawless It might not throw CyHi's project (it SHOULD have been his first album, he might not put out a project like that again in his career) of my number one spot this year but I don't think it will drop out of my top 5 of 2014...
Feefo is a good dude but Gibbs always had a feel for sampled beats. 4681 Broadway, 93 til Infinity etc.. his production by Madlib was comfortable because he is clearly a east coast fan from when he was younger.
Madlib is fucking crazy.. I heard about dude for past like 15 years but never checked his shit besides Quasimoto which I didn't really like.. But after watching this review i randomly checked this freddie gibbs album and this shit is dope as fuck.. Freddies dope but I really LOVE madlibs beats omg shit is dope as fuck!!! lol I been listening to all his albums past week all these beat tapes and shit shits so dope! I can't say how dope it is enough times!! lol
jaidsalgado yeah man ever since I made this post few months ago I been bumpin madlib HEAVY lol.. my fave shit is pinata, madvillain and his jazz albums.. that shits hella dope oh and quasimoto is crazy af lol i remember randomly buyin the first quasimoto album in 2003 but not digging it cause of the voice and I only listened like once lol.. its all good though because all this shit is basically like new music to me cause i'm just discovering it! peace
I got my copy of the album and this is all I have been listening to. This is one of the best hip hop albums probably the best hip hop album ive heard in a very long time. Go buy it. This is the hip hop/gangsta rap you all want, well here it is.
I'm just happy Madlib dropped some music this year. I heard they were making album awhile back, I figured Madlib got high and forgot that he was doing a album with Freddie Gibbs.....lol
Glad you got the vid back up. Gibbs came out when gangsta rap was scarce along with lyrics also not being the main focus. At that time Nipsey came out too and both of those guys at the time kinda made a statement thru their projects that gangsta rap (OG style) is here to stay w/o compromising and with the help of TDE ,this project ,Nipsey Crenshaw and YG they are bringing back resurgence in that style. As opposed to NY and the rest of the east coast can't seem to truly come in with a new sound that's grounded in their roots for a proper comeback. I think 50 cent might be headed in the right direction though
***** I guess I need to explain. I wasn't at all comparing fiddy to gibbs. I was saying NY needs to revive their sound as the west coast style seems to have been re born. Maybe 50 can spark something new. He is a trend setter after all and his latest singles are all bangers and how anyone can say 50 just fell off!? He may not be popping but far from fallen off! He's a staple in hip hop like Diddy, Jay, Dre, Em, Russell, those people will always be around
It's such a wierd occurence that I won't check out Freddie Gibbs after this album since I don't really feel his style of rapping but Madlib really enhanced everything for me and even took a rapper that I'm not even a fan of and made the whole project Dope. Loved this project.
track after track this album was golden. you have releases from step brothers, isaiah rashad, cyhi, schoolboy q, pro era and now madgibbs. 2014 shows no signs of slowing down in hiphop
Yeah Cilvia Demo, and oxy moron stay in rotation now adding cyhi, pro era , E&J Dag Savage , Verbal Kent Sound of the Weapon, And Steppington starting to grow on me. I just skimmed thru gibbs cuz I'm too busy with the previously mentioned but will pay closer attention now. To a great 2014 my rap friends!
I actually like Freddie on trap type beats better. I think they contrast his laid-back tone very nicely (e.g, BFK), but regardless of the beat Gibbs has this talent to ride pretty much any beat well.
I actually feel you on that but Gibbs sounds so much polished over these soulful beats and its really bringing out the MC of him and its so fun to listen to.
DenizenRD Maybe that is the case, but I prefer my music with a "kick" to it to excite me. And smooth, laid-back, soulful beats typically is too calm for my taste. The beats don't have to be trap - am actually not a huge fan of trap - I'm open to a lot of other styles (usually things with a "kick" to it though). Like Bisharoleli said, his older stuff is better. You can start with, "The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs" of you're interested.
Still listening to Piñata in 2022 going on 2023. My favorite Hip Hop album from that entire decade. I can listen to this album front to back with no skips.
Still listening to this album in 2017, certified classic.
INSTANT classic. if you don't love this shit, you never listened to it
2018 baby
Agree
2019 and forever
1 month till 2020 and we still gonna be bumpin this shit
"You DONT NEED TRAP BEATS!!!!" Myke C-Town. Thank U Myke

@Ignat Intellect did you listend to the album? Personally I don't think we need gate keeping in hip hop all of them can exist and still be quality work. We should just be against lazy bullshit.
@Ignat Intellect Pinata isn't boom bap. Dafaq?
Whenever beezy gets excited about an album I have to check it out
This Album is GREAT man it was my favorite of last year
***** Did you prefer it to Run The Jewels 2?
Ryan Mccreadie for me personally yes. but only because the soulful beats were done really well, and it seems like i am always in a mood to listen to it. I love Run the jewels 2 tho...and when i am ready to get hype and some adrenaline flowing that album is on repeat.
***** Fair play man, both really dope records, Run The Jewels 2 edges it for me, but not by much.
+campfire247 the man does have high standards lol
i love when Beezy gets enthusiastic about a project.
And it still doesn't meet his expectations 😂
This album is so dope. 10/10 classic for real
i notice alot of people weren't big fans of Gibbs but still loved this. If you're looking for more of this style by Gibbs check the mixtapes Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs, Midwestgangstaboxframecadilllacmusic, and Str8 Killa No Filla for more of the spitter Freddie Gibbs
AFunkyDiabetic yeah I'm still banging all the mixtape and early eps
AFunkyDiabetic man I see you all over these classic reviews haha you should show your musical side on your main channel or create a new one. Would love to hear your take on music as well as basketball haha
Yooooooo
Who knew I’d be subscribed to u a few years later😂
Lol , Hi Funky .
Beezy is the eccentric hip hop head on the show.
olliej21 myke to
Beezy's voice cracks are just forever perfectly integrated into his personality and image
C-Town had me rolling when he was impersonating Freddie Gibbs on the cover! Dope project though, great review
10/10, top 5 all time, i love this album so much man, never get tired of it a masterpiece in every form
Still bumpin it?

Uno🔥🔥
This is a lowkey modern classic. Ace review too, lol I love how excited Beezy is. This album never gets old.
Lachlan Campbell-Serventy Highkey
This just seemed like the type of album Beezy would love hes probably got the best taste out of them all
Harold was my favorite song on the album! this album is gonna be a classic
Pretty much all these beats are memorable
Also nice to see the reviews at random locations again lol
Takes me back to the early 2011 reviews
Best album of 2014. Even over RTJ.
I have piñata, Run the jewels 2, Cilvia Demo, Searching Sylvan, The Water[s], Dark Comedy, and CLPPNG tied at #1 LMAO
I can't decide on which one I like the best!
Close for sure! The best albums of last year were great. Not to great as a whole year IMO. This year though? Phew.
+MH DOOM Clppng 2014 #1 for sure... one of my decade fav albums so far
Pacmilio I love that album to death tbh
MH DOOM I made once a list of my fav albums of the decade so far (2010-present) for a little presentation in my school, and I put Clppng on the #6 spot
Madgibbs should do another project.
They are now.
Mic Tyson Bandana
Mic Tyson Most likely THIS YEAR! I mean Gibbs played snippets on his snap and said it’s done. But he’s dropping it whenever he wants
They got Bandana behind glass with a countdown timer that resets every time someone asks for it.
Bandana coming 2019
the bonus tracks version of the album makes it just that much better cause it has the song Deep and that song is awesome.
Some of the best bonus tracks I've ever heard, I think they should have been included somewhere on the album
+ThePersonNetwork what are the bonus tracks called?
The two that aren't instrumentals are called "Deep" and "terrorist," they're both fire af
ThePersonNetwork home was on the thuggin lp

Awesome album. Great reviews. Now to get back to playing the album.....
That DJ Quik comparison was spot on, really explains why I love this album so much hahaha
I understand Gibbs not wanting to do another full length collab album with Madlib, but damn. You left us craving for more.
But they are !!!
Bandana
Just to update it, 2019 and still obsessed and I’m so happy they actually teamed up again to make bandana
bout goddamn time this review got posted. i've been a fan of freddie since 2010 and im very pleased to see freddie and madlib drop a spectacular album together. hopefully this album will get freddie more recognition and props as a dope artist.
Still listening to tracks off this one - so catchy, doesn't get old.

Lil Los Definitely. Madlib's beats too, sometimes I just listen to the Piñata beats album and I'm left in awe of how creative his production is.
Me too. It’s amazing
There were so many great tracks on this album that they didn't even mention the title track posse cut
This is one of the grimiest, yet soulful albums I've ever heard. 9.5/10

No. I wasn't comparing the 3. Just saying I think they're 3 really dope projects (I do think Pinata is the dopest out of them) of the month
Myke C-Town is wearing a Dark Throne hoodie while reviewing this project. Word.
you know what , i really like how you guys were passionate about this project . great review for an outstanding collaboration . buy it .
i agree with Feefo its time for Freddie Gibbs to stop with that dissing Jeezy shit until Jeezy responds. It's pointless after this if he doesn't get shit back.

Gibbs is one of the new new artists today with true breath control more emcees need to flow like him
This album reminds me a lot of J Dilla :) May him Rest in Peace. Excellent, excellent work on this album.
This is exactly what I thought

He's so insightful.

Review the new Cunninlynguists album
I thought some of the production sounded like something 9th Wonder would put out, I'd love to hear Freddie on 9th beats
I hope you guys review the new album! Bandana is incredible

He would of been more exited if Freddie Gibbs was a Detroit rapper lol
beezy430 I know but I was just playing around B! Not trying to disrespect you. Just me cracking some bad jokes lol ^^
+lukas giesman watch the illmatic review lol
"Don't make me expose you to those who don't know you"
Gibbs definitely has more to say
Damn Beezy you didn't hear the Danny Brown x Freddie Gibbs joint on "Old"? Best cut off the album.
Great review guys, this is mt favorite album of the year so far.
Still love this review, still love this album. Bandana was dope but Pinata was just special

Feefo is a good dude but Gibbs always had a feel for sampled beats. 4681 Broadway, 93 til Infinity etc.. his production by Madlib was comfortable because he is clearly a east coast fan from when he was younger.
tha whole album wuz fuckin dope. we need a album like this in this watered down era of hip hop now
probably one of the best this year. Do YG's My Krazy Life next!
This album is straight outta 1975 and I fucking love it
One of the best Hip Hop albums I've heard in the past decade.
Fuck. I knew Feefo was a pothead hahaha
Well I know the next album I'll be checking for.

16:07 lmao! I love how hyped Myke gets. He always pulls the most interesting verses from the album and makes them hilarious. Good review.
i wonder what you guys thought of madvilliany
i think there doing a review soon.
gibbs sounded good cause he was on some good music, trap beats make rap music sound terrible
I'm just happy Madlib dropped some music this year. I heard they were making album awhile back, I figured Madlib got high and forgot that he was doing a album with Freddie Gibbs.....lol
Excellent review! Album is amazing. Simple as that.
"Thuggin'" is my ish. Best track on a real good album.

This project is dope as hell! I was already up on Freddie Gibbs from his baby face Killa project which is a banger too! A definite classic
Favorite album of the year so far easily!
It's such a wierd occurence that I won't check out Freddie Gibbs after this album since I don't really feel his style of rapping but Madlib really enhanced everything for me and even took a rapper that I'm not even a fan of and made the whole project Dope. Loved this project.
This is the best rap album I've heard since GKMC easily this is amazing not 1 song I didn't like even the BTW skits were good
Fuck yeah Freddie gettin some well deserved recognition, album was dope as fuck.
Came here because Bandana just dropped and im waiting on your review!!!
damn great review
Revisiting this review in anticipation for Bandana! Like if you’re hype!
i wonder why they didnt include "deep" in the final album. It was one of my favorites from them.
track after track this album was golden. you have releases from step brothers, isaiah rashad, cyhi, schoolboy q, pro era and now madgibbs.
I was waiting for this review
Great review. I reacted the same way to thuggin when I heard that intro then the guitar came in fucking cold!!
200 spins later, Piñata's still on repeat. Amazing
Still on repeat.
@@rockstarskinnys3370 still on repeat 🔁
This album is great and helped Gibbs get more fans while showing that he doesn't need Jeezy. Madlib is an ill producer as always.
you guys gonna review the new YG album? just wondering
Feefo be blazin'. He high right now.
2024 and i’m still bumpin piñata 🙏🏽
Are you wearing a Darkthrone hoodie, C-Town? :O
Timeless classic MadGibbs forever
Come to New York. I'd like to be a part of this conversation.
Dead End could you review Acie High L.O.V.E album? I think you guys would dig it.
Can yall review YG album I'm really interested to hear what you guys have to say
maybe pick a less windy day next time but solid review
