      GKMC is 1000x better than Macklemore’s shit. However Macklemore sold more albums independently and had 2 of the biggest singles of that year so you honestly shouldn’t be surprised. Grammies is all about politics, not musical quality

      +ZDub Tha Gawd This album isn't sonically better you just find it more interesting because its more new age. This is the kind of music teens can get behind but TPAB is a far better project where as this one has hit and misses. It's not subjective to say TPAB is better because it is. It has a more complex and original message than a guy living in the hood. Most people prefer this simply because of the bangers which is shallow but what can ya do.

    And the thing with Kendrick, he can honestly do it all. It's not just dope rhyme schemes and great story telling over certain productions styles, his projects have bangers filled with quoteables as well as laid back tracks to mix in with the story and narration, real life talk from mixed with comments on society as a whole, and it all fits. I honestly can't name that many rappers who are so great whilst being very versatile. If Kendrick keeps doing this, he might be mentioned among the greats.

    • @MTWENTY
      @MTWENTY 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The album wouldn’t make sense played backwards because of the skits in between. Like try playing Sing About Me, Dying of Thirst first and then Swimming Pools right after, it doesn’t make sense.
      The genius of Good Kid Maads City’s narrative is that it can relate to a lot of kids growing up in that kind of environment. When Kendrick’s skit saying “mom Ima take the van out, be back in 15 min” plays at the end of Compton, it serves as a cycle of life that a lot of kids around that age go through in the hood with certain events repeating itself over and over again.

    I completely agree. I've been a huge KL fan since Overly Dedicated... even the KL EP. When I initially heard the singles for GKMC, Poetic Justice and Swimming Pools.. I was thrown off. Like what tf.. moreso why tf he use these for his mainstream singles when I knew he had much more to say than what most were really getting from it. When I took the time to listen to the entire album, I completely understood the context of the songs and how they fit into the album, his style/artistry, and his story. Sing For Me and Real are my favorite tracks... then Art of Peer Pressure and Money Trees each of which I can strongly relate to. Over all.. brilliant album :)
