I always wonder why there are thousand of views, but only hundreds of likes only. I mean I like it before I always watch it because there hasn't been at no time I didn't like it. Sometime I just wonder if that is a youtube thing. Great job guys!!

If you're subscribed then TH-cam should count it as a like as soon as you start the video. I mean they already know that you like it because you're subscribed to the channel. If it gets to a point where I no longer like or relate to a channel then I simply unsubscribe.

I laughed when Tucker came in and was trying not to look at the welds. That is the first thing a welder will look at no matter what. Seriously though, that fixture will be very nice to use just to keep from crawling around on the floor all day which will make things go better and probably a little faster as well. I despise crawling around on a floor all day with that kind of stuff. When you make it past 50, you'll really appreciate things like this.

I’ve “yelled” at the boys there for not wearing hearing protection when they are making noise. At 71 I’m rather tired of listening to a swarm of crickets all day and night. Too much loud work without earmuffs, and too many hours on snowmobiles and loud boats!

Clinton, you and Kevin bring a new meaning to southern engineering. This is one of those things that wakes you up in the middle of the night. But it looks like it work well enough and save some knee walking and possibly time to change pads or chains. Now Kevin needs to paint it so it doesn't rust away.

Shop builds are the coolest. No engineering plans, not even scribbles on a napkin. Your plans were conceived out of necessity and built from your vision for job completion. You had a vision for making a task easier while providing a comfortable work platform for your employees. Like others in you inner circle who are not afraid to build tools that were jut a vision: the tile plow, tree/brush rake and limb saw that Dirt Perfect (Mike) and MBS (Aaron) built. You are the programs that draw viewers in. Keep doing what you do, love it.

That project that you have done looked like 2 naughty boys were up to no good hopping that when finished every one will be pleased with what they had got up to. The best part was when Tucker came in & saw what was going on, that made him happy , smiling after seeing the welding. That was the best mood I've seen him. As this is all new to me I can't wait to see how it works.

I love the idea and ingenuity behind it.
When I worked for Rozier Caterpillar in Brandon Florida, we had a track shop that was first class. They had a track welder that built up the bottoms of the chain. My dim memory recalls it was a flux immersion process. They could press out the pins and bushings and rebuild the rollers.
The sand was brutal and tracked equipment so those guys had plenty of business.
The idea of working upright is a plus in my books as being elevated in years makes me wish I hadn't have worked on the floor as much when younger.
My only concern is the possibility of the track tipping off the fixture and removing toes and such.
Flat 1/4" X 2" laid flat about an inch or two would probably keep the track from tipping.
Round stock, angle or channel would do too but would be bulkier and heavier plus cost more.
The bright side is all you have to do is hook the winch up to something and it will move itself outside.
Think of all the fuel you would save for the forklift.
    LOL!
Seriously I would consider the worst possibility.
Murphy is a son of a bitch.
    Cheers
    Terry

Maybe put some angle iron under each sawhorse leg and the ramp bottom curving both ends up making a two directional skid plate. Dragging them in and out of the shop would be a lot easier, simpler, and quicker than having Kevin trying to jockey them around with a forklift. I would lower your elevated roller to reduce the angle of the cable into your wench block. Mason recognized that that setup was putting too much stress on the wench at the end of its travel. Don't forget to rustoleum it lol. You could use a c an of that black during a lot of your assembly where you leave hidden surfaces bare and open to future rusting. I made a few creations in my day working in the construction industry as a mechanic , metal fabricator, trouble-shooter, etc. I always had a grinder with a wire brush attachment, wire brush bits for the drill to knock of rusty surfaces and covered the work and parts with black rustoleum to keep them protected, prolonging their life and feeling better about themselves.

Soon you will need to move that contraption. Put a trailer -type axle and wheels at the strut base under the winch. Mount a pivot that will allow the base feet to sit on the floor when in service. To move, use the winch cable to lift an arm which will rotate the pivot forcing the axle to drop and lift the feet off the ground. You now have a trailer. Pick up the far end with the forks and tow it out into the yard. Just my take on things.

That is an excellent idea for working on Tracks, you are right, at a certain age it is really uncomfortable working on the floor on Track maintenance. Back in the day trying to remove Track master Pins with just a Bar and a Sledge was a nightmare, glad that's all gone. All the best from the U.K.
You may get Kevin to paint it with a mix of left over colours, may come out like some weird Camo colour :-)

I love your imagination, to be able in vision a work station like that and then build it speaks volumes of your experience and work ethic. Good job!

Nice piece of work, that is. Maybe some wheels on one end to help it roll outside.
Also, maybe install those hanging plastic strips to keep birds out like Home Depot puts on their warehouse doors. Also keeps out cold air as you keep your doors open.

Works good now.. no doubt it'll get a couple more tweaks (and some paint) I bet Clint's thinking of ways to make it portable. Young man sure can weld, by the way.
