    Thank you! I wanted to cover a shade, for a guest bedroom I'm re-doing. I was thrilled when I found your video, because I am using toile. I did exactly what you said, and first attempt literally took only minutes, and it turned out great . Thank you, again!

    Thank you for sharing this DIY! I have an old shade I need to cover, but all the other videos I've watched made it WAY too complicated. Your process is simple and so well presented. Now I'm off to dig through my mountains of fabric to find what I want to use... 🙂

      Agree. I wanted a simple DIY solution, didn't want to spend 2 weeks hand crafting a Victorian lampshade from scratch (they are beautiful but too much work).

      Oh Emily, You are so very welcome. Most everything we get at the dollar tree can be purchased in other places just for more money. I know that almost everything the dollar tree carries they carry a similar item at Walmart or Michael’s. Thanks for the love and for watching!

    - Thanx 4 sharing your skill at making a V E R Y nice lamp cover. Where can I find lampshade liner fabric ???

    • @JeriAnnHenson
      @JeriAnnHenson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one of course was an already lined a lampshade but any heat resistant nylon or polyester should work. Unless she is a little white lightbulbs and really anything will work. Someone at Joannes or your fabric store should be able to help you find which ones work best. Best of luck!

    This seemed to be quite easy and a simple way to create a lovely lamp. I am wondering if you don't have a covered lamp, that is a lamp with just the wire base how can I make a shade. I have a lamp that I love but neighbor child knocked it down and the material on the shade is ruined?

    The inside of the shades I want to cover is a little cracked and yellowed. Would cutting my lining the same way as the outside, but leave no fold over allowance at the top and bottom, work? It would involve a snip or two to allow for the wires, but I think it should be doable.

    • @JeriAnnHenson
      @JeriAnnHenson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Place the lining first. I would recommend trying to keep your salvage edge (piece the wraps inside) and little as possible. Best of luck.

    Thank you my dear. I have several old lamp shade forms. (Form is a better word than skeletons). Any way I have a frame/form that looks like a opened tulip and it hangs from a stem like frame....looks like an S, so the shade points to the floor on an angle. I am going to shabby chic it and try and figure out what to do with the shade. I need to rework the electrical system (stuff). The spine of the shade has 8 sections and wavy around the bottom. OH MY.... What to do.... it was an oiled paper shade, but did not survive the grand kids. So, I am ready to tackle this thing. As soon as I can figure out what type of shade to make. Sigh.....

    • @JeriAnnHenson
      @JeriAnnHenson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Just glue one panel at a time and glue around the top and bottom cross braces. Thank you for the great question Gail!

    • @margaretperry2015
      @margaretperry2015 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve done those in the past,so I’m trying to remember how I did it. . You used to be able to buy lampshade frames at all the craft and home dec stores. You need contact paper as the first layer or something as flexible. The fabric will sag otherwise.

    Do you believe in reincarnation? i wish that you would have been my home ec./sew
    instructor in Jr.HS.
    You explain everything so well. Definitely would not have felt intimidated by u. I know I
    would have learned so much more with u while feeling less stressed and inept. It would have
    been a more pleasant experience.
    The toile fabric shade came out super Jeri-Ann! I would feel confident to try this project after
    seeing & hearing your hints. Would definitely want to see other more intricate lampshades
    covered by u.
    Would u make it a little more clear on the problem u would have if u were to use stripes? I
    have difficulty visualizing that concept...thank you.

      Eureka! Jeri-Ann I just figured out what u were talking about if u were to use stripes! Took a piece of paper rolled it into a cone shape & saw what u were
      explaining.
