"Эзир-Кара" - Tuvan Folk Song (Ezir-Kara)
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 24 ก.ค. 2023
- Ezir-Kara was the name of a horse in the 30s that always came first in horse racing events, he was said to be the fastest horse in the history of Tuva. Coincidentally the owner of Ezir-Kara was arrested during the political repressions of the 30s, but the horse managed to escape, so the horse is seen as a symbol of Tuvan independence from tyranny
My channel is dedicated to anthems, hymns and patriotic songs, here is the link to our discord server: / discord
Ezir-Kara = The Black Eagle.
The song is about the legendary horse which always won races at Naadym - an annual traditional nomadic festival, where the participants take part in horse racing, wrestling and archery.
It received it's nickname "The Black Eagle" after winning four times in a row. There were more races thus more nicknames, it's just a tradition to give nicknames for the championing horses. But the "Ezir-Kara" just stuck to it, historically. The other nicknames were:
Huluk-Kara = The Restless Black One
Uzhar-Kheme = The Flying Boat - an interesting lexeme which actually means "plane" basically.
In 1939, the horse's owner was shot by the tankies for "counter-revolutionary activity", while Ezir-Kara was sent to taiga but according to others it was shot as well.
That's real cool!

It’s so weird to get Mongol, Turkic and Russian vibes all from the same song. I love it
Well, in the steppes the culture of Turks and Mongols is the same, at least 4000 years ago xD
For some historians, they consider both the same people, only they speak different languages.
Even for those studying genology, he defends the same thing, that Mongols and Turks are the same "tribe" but with small ethnic variations.
I don't get any Russian vibes at all, just Central Asian
I guess there's nothing Russian in this song.
Tuva was part of Mongolia, which was part of the Republic of China (Taiwan)

Imagine how many stuff they would produce with a million or more people
Yes, as Polish I am also very interested how is tgis possible. Anyways, LONG LIVE TANNU-TUVA!
Where is Tuva?
Because sources are never posted in the descriptions, I did some digging and found the source of this particular recording. This is by the Marmota Band (旱獭乐队) and is off their self-titled debut album from 2017 as the leading track. The rest of the album and, of course, the rest of their music is fascinating. They are on Spotify, too, and are a great band as their purpose is to preserve folk music in and around Mongolia (they are a Mongolian band, even if the song itself is Tuvan) because of the risk of cultural loss over time in the frontier of the country.
Sources: Spotify and Baidu Baike
