A man who needs no introduction and as Channing would say, important enough that Ryan risked his life to come visit in the altitude of Colorado...yes that's right, we are sitting down with none other than Prime Time himself, our friend and icon- Deion Sanders.
In an emotional and layered conversation covering everything from his HBCU exit, to new job at Colorado, his grave health scare, the importance of family and progression...Deion doesn't hold back as the guys chat through many tough topics and are able to soak up the wisdom and grasp the spirit of a man willing to share his trials, tribulations as well as celebrate the wins along the way too.
Following the recent social and cultural uproar from his comments on recruitment, leaving Jackson State University for Colorado- Coach Prime is not shying away from the backlash and speaking honestly as he opens up to Fred, Ryan and Channing about the past couple months of change. In a long awaited conversation dating back to a previous exchange where Channing told Deion he didn't see him at a HBCU for a long time because of the lack of money and resources- Deion sets record straight that it was never about money, it was always about a calling to make a difference and create opportunities. Focused on what's in front of him and adapting to the opportunities life creates and the importance of bringing those close to him along on the journey, especially with his children.
Ryan asks Prime how HBCUs will continue to grow without his footprint and blueprint, especially after bringing 5-star players like Travis Hunter with him in his exit and how will the programs maintain that level of attention without his contributions. Deion credits his time at JSU for making him the coach he is today and proud of the foundation he built for others to expand upon and explains why he felt it was his time to move on.
Deion becomes emotional when Fred asks about the importance of community and continues to discuss family through his recent health scare. In a moment of vulnerability, Deion opens up about having no control as he battled one of the toughest things he’s ever been through and one of the scariest too, having blood clots in his lower extremities which led to amputation of two toes. Relying on those close to him, it was extremely difficult to be away from his children as Prime emotionally shares one moment with his son Shedeur which really put into perspective the effects change was having on not just him, but everyone close to him.
Being one of the greatest athletes in our era and an icon on every level, Ryan talks to Deion on how doing the physical things that made him a legend are now the things he is unable to do and how that transition has been mentally. "I hope to run again one day...that's my goal, to be able to run," Deion says with watery eyes, it's the little things sometimes we take for granted who made us who we are that we no longer can do- that's when life becomes real.
With the odds stacked against him, Deion is known for being a winner everywhere he goes and with everything he does which makes this transition to a new level, a challenging one. Ryan reiterates the importance of strong leadership and putting good people in proper places to excel and grow with him, which Deion has mastered. Close to selling out the stadium in Colorado for the first time in years, Prime talks about what it takes to build a championship program and his goals for the upcoming years as not just a coach but a father too.
Deion’s next chapter as the head coach of Colorado is being documented for an upcoming series on Amazon Prime.

Which many of his achievement came while wide awake as he envisioned them and put them in play which made him what he is today. Because many of us dream a whole lot of stuff we plan on doing in the future and once we wake up we no longer feel the need to pursue them or we just totally forget them. So I understand the message he just schooled us all with.

Them Brothers wanted to play for me cause I respected them all and what they brought to the game. And watching Coach Prime be head coach at Colorado and bringing discipline back to the game . And the quote baby daddy’s to Fathers says volumes about what this man stood for. I watch his Hall of Fame speech and about his Mother was moved me to tears.. I watched at Atlanta high stepping down the sideline to San Francisco where he helped win the Super Bowl then go to Dallas. Like he said he’s been winner all his life . And this group on the Pivot they are interviewing but they also getting something from it. That’s why he so loved cause he tells the truth and the truth stands alone . And there’s no disputing that .. I can’t wait to the opening day of 1:07:40 Colorado football team takes the field.. Oh big shot out to the Pivot these Brothers get the best .. Deion has always been one of my favorite people to listen to, the motivation and wisdom from football to everyday life is exactly what the young men need that he's coaching. What Deion has done for HBCU is UNMATCHED! Some jealous coaches wanted to say "it was all about him" when the truth is, this is the most exposure HBCU's have had in a very long time. Those who want to beat up on Deion for leaving obviously hasn't evaluated what he's done. I was hoping Ed Reed would be the next great story, but they have already messed that up. Love Prime man but he uses words out of context because he talks so fast. He said they don't have the acronym for winning but he meant acumen. He said people dream while they sleep but can't recant what they dreamed when they wake up. He meant recall. He said conversate rather than converse. He needs to slow down so his speech becomes as excellent as his football acumen. No shade to Deion at all but he needs to tighten that up

I love The Pivot. I can always count on a laugh and some education. I’m glad they interviewed, laughed, conversed, challenged and ask the hard questions. I love them. They are an excellent trio. I think they answered a lot of questions people were wanting answers to. I think they helped you explain your vision for the coaching staff and team. God has U. I’m actually looking forward to seeing the team do a Texas Western vs University of Kentucky replay. I love your staff. I think they are going to change how college football coaching is done. Great Blessings not God Luck. I wish I could play cause I’m hyped about the words, “We coming!” I think God designed your current assignment to show us how wonderful things can be if we just trust. Coach Prime I love and admire the relationship that you have with your kids. One week I love you and Shedeur, then I love you with Shilo, correction I really love you with Shilo, then I love you with Deon Jr. and your daughter and you is simply beautiful. All I can say is Coach Prime you understood God’s assignment and he’s blessing you with everything that you guys need to change the game. Much love and respect. When you talked about what you have been through Coach Prime I completely understood. I’m a former athlete in high school and college. I played every sport in high school all three years effectively. I then went to one of the what use to be labeled the worst jails in the country-201 Poplar. I worked and supervised in the worst floors in the jail as a tall 6’2 1/2 female with a cute face, little waist and a body, ody, ody as my girl Megan Thee Stallion says. I worked the Fourth Floor with another female effectively without cursing. I said what I meant. I meant what I said. I had a promising future but God had another assignment for me. I have been hospitalized 12 times for strokes. My first was a hemorrhagic stroke on my thalamus-Central Nervous System of your brain. I lost my vision and my entire left side not once but several times. So I completely understand and feel you being down and having to depend on others for everything. The doctor told me when I had my first stroke which was the hemorrhagic one which was the worst that I was lucky cause most people are not here to talk about it but your speech is clear. You are in your right mind. It’s going to take a while to recover but you are lucky cause I thought we were going to have to cut your scalp to release the blood in your head. A couple days later the blood had disappeared. I told him I’m not lucky. I am blessed. He started calling me a miracle. God has you and God has me too. Be blessed. Loved the interview.
