@@darrenheapy1265 I know, it’s so funny how that happens. I say it to my kids all the time and they go “who’s Jan?” My reply is always “dunno - look her up in the phone book” and they’re like “WHAT’S A PHONE BOOK?!” 🤨
The Carlton draught beer ad is one of the best ads ever! It never gets old! It still looks great! And no other ad has even come close to touching it for sheer scale.
The grumpy old guy in the snickers ad is actor Ray Meagher. He play Alf in a soapie called "Home and Away". Hes played the same grumpy character for 30+ years, that's why we all thought it was hilarious. 😂
Louie The Fly was invented by Bryce Courtney, the author, when he worked in an advertising agency MANY years ago. Remember the "I'm Louie The Fly, I'm Louie The Fly...Straight from rubbish tip to you..." ad?
you missed one of the greatest ad of all time. the qantas 'i still call australia home' ads. even know they can still bring a tear to my eye because of the emotion within the song and ad
Qantas "I still call Australia home 1997" is iconic but the all man beer ad where they're moving to create the picture of a guy drinking beer is pretty epic.
@@HowlingCurve I think the US pronounce "cordial" different as well. My favourite is how they pronounce Solder, they say Soder. I'm gunna soder these wires.
G’day Mate. Some adds have a very very long history. Such as the Mortein Fly Spray ads. If you ever happen to visit Oz, and you happen to say “Bye Bye Louie” whenever a fly is around, I can guarantee that EVERY Aussie old enough to have watched TV for at least a few months, will understand the reference. There have been a whole host of various ads about poor old Louie. This reel is just a small example. The 2nd ad, is where he became famous, as well as the jingle. Which is still used, even if only in part. The 3rd (1st colour version made) is what I grew up with and what most slightly older Aussies would recognise. The jingle is definitely catchy and it still isn’t old yet, that’s a sure sign of success if their ever was one. P.S. (hint) don’t say Bye Bye Louie. I simply mean that they will know and instantly understand the reference. As It’s something that isn’t said as such. th-cam.com/video/UupBBVDXol4/w-d-xo.html
Try to find the New Zealand Toyota Hi-Lux "bugger" advert. It's great. The dog in it was called Hercules and was the same one in Lord of the Rings at Bree. That Beer advert was filmed in NZ.
The rabbit one reminds me of a joke that backfired on me one day with my daughter. I would often tell her that her brain was in her butt when she was silly or clumsy. One day she came home from school furious at me. They were in year 1 and they were talking about the human body. She was a shy child who never spoke up so when the teacher asked who knows where the brain is and she raised her hand the teacher picked her. She proudly informed the class her brain was in her butt. Even the teacher got the giggles but my daughter was less than impressed with me lol I had always assumed she knew I was joking. Looking back I should have realised I never actually told her where her brain really was so of course she wouldn’t know any better 😂
My goodness, I used to live in Australia when that 1300 ad would play and to this day I can still remember the number because like you said it is so catchy.
The music from the Cottee's ad was the jingle that I grew up with - "My dad picks the fruit That goes to Cottees That makes the cordial That I like best.
I grew up with that too .. and we even picked fruit on our uncle's orchard west of Sydney as kids. And yes .. my great grandfather & his brother started the company way back when.
The motorbikes ad, for snickers. The older guy is very well known actor in our longest running tv soap drama. Alf Stewart from Home and Away with all his well known phrases.
The Calton "it's a big ad" is my personal favourite. In saying that, there are some more great ones not shown here, I highly recommend looking at more.👍
To be fair, they probably spent a lot of money coming up with that jingle. It's made in such a way that even decades later you can remember the number. Genius, really.
The Toyota Hilux ad is an absolute Pissa.......The man is absolutely devastated when it goes over the cliff ! .....Then the joy of it coming back.......Priceless !🤣
That beer bottle add for Victoria bitter at 6:10. I am living in Melbourne Victoria for over 40 years, and never see that add before. Thanks for showing mate.
My daughter and son in law and grandkids live on our acreage outside of Brisbane and live on their boat on the weekend and holidays. They play rugby league out here in our country town and go to school here. Mum works in the city or from home and SIL works nearby 4 days a week. All generations share the chores so we can sail and enjoy life.
Carlton’s ‘A man’s not a man without a canoe’, the suite of ‘Made from beer’ & NZ’s Tui beer ads. With Davideena & Brucella & with their Hilux ads - check ‘em.
The biggest problem with the Reading & Writing mob, you vertically have to be able to read an write to deal with them. Was goin back a few years, I hope they have improved.
Look for the HBA health insurance tv advert, the aussie kids in it are gold!!! Also look for Yellow Pages advert with woman looking for the advert in her office, also gold!
G’day from down under. Loved your reactions to these. The commercials from the 70s and 80s are good too. To keep the rabbits out 😂. What charter boat yes since that ad we say it all the time 😂.
Remember ‘demolition man’ the movie where tv was now a rerun of old commercials. Well now we just watched a review of old commercials 🤣🤣 and it was great 😊
That tune in the Cotties ad is muted out because they got sued. It used to say, my Dad picks the fruit that goes to Cotties to make the cordial that I like best. There is no fruit used in their cordial. So they cannot play the jinglle anymore.
I personally don't like Carlton Draught but it's a brilliant ad. The Hahn Light ads with Michael Caton were good back in the day too. Actually all our beer ads are great, Tooheys "Here we go again, Manly & Parra, Parra's well ahead but the gap starts to narrow ads were great when i was a kid, also I'm Parra supporter so that helped
Always loved the Carlton ad and the rabbits one,😅❤. They didn't include the bu..er dog one where it fell in the mud 😅🤭. Just wondering if any aussies remembers the Mitsubishi car ad, something about being beside themselves??
if your talking about the mirage ads where the guy gives the girl a lift to her car but when she gets to it and its an excel she says that not her car. but its the only car in the carpark. yep i remember that ad well
Hey dNeal. The Cottees cordial ad is spot on. It's the only one we'd have at home and 56 years later, I'm still drinking Cottees lemon cordial and refuse anything else bar Bickfords premium cordial.

Can't believe you didn't have the Antz Pantz add (mind you, you'd probably get demonetized overt that one, lol)... also, think that was from the 80's/90's.
I’m shocked there was no “NOT. HAPPY. JAN!” or any of Australia’s most epic love story - Rhonda and Ketut. 😂

Hell yes! Qantas' ads are the greatest. They're not called the 'Spirit of Australia ' for nothing.
6:13 You have to understand the legacy of the theme song for this Aussie beer ad to truly appreciate it.
You have to be Aussie to understand about the rabbits. Our government built a rabbit proof fence. There’s actually been a movie set around that fence.
Emperor Nasi Goreng....fried rice? 😂
As an Australian I know, but I don’t think it matters to the ad, itself.
Qantas "I still call Australia home 1997" is iconic but the all man beer ad where they're moving to create the picture of a guy drinking beer is pretty epic.
I don't think there's an Aussie alive who doesn't know - 13 double oh 6 triple 5 oh 6
