Next time if you’re wandering outside of the city and surrounds, try some other independent fabric shops - Cloth Shop in Ivanhoe and Fabric Deluxe in Footscray. There’s lovely Japanese seersucker at Fabric Deluxe. 😊

Delightful to “look” into so many Melbourne fabric stores that I know about but have never been to. The only one I have been to is Rathdown Fabrics - which is my “local” fabric store! I love looking at the vintage sewing machine collection up on the walls. Now I feel like planning an adventure with a crafty friend or two & going exploring to some of the other stores - thanks for the inspiration! PS another one for you list for next time is GJ’s Fabrics in Fairfield, I have been buying fabric there pretty much since I first started sewing ( well, at the current store and the 3 previous locations too!) over 25 years ago. Georgie & the team are all wonderful & the store is just gorgeous.

OMG you are right in my hood and I have never been to Jimmy’s Buttons…or the Fabric Lab, been sewing for over 30 years🤔. Thanks for showing me around its lovely to see my fav fabric haunts being enjoyed…love your video…will totally get out more.
The Fabric Lab is pretty recent, I think it opened a bit over a year ago at this point. Also Jimmy Buttons is very particular, he is very short, likes people that know what they want and have the cash on hand to pay for it. He can be very abrasive so I know quite a few people who really don't like going in there. So be prepared for that.
The sweetest trip! So many fabby shops I’ve never even made it to so adding them to my list for next time. Meeting you both was such a highlight and I love seeing your adventure through your lens. ❤

There is a Darn Cheap Fabrics on Glenhuntly Road, Glenhuntly just down the road from the train station. Friendly and knowledgable staff.

Darn cheap fabrics has a huge range of fabulous lace and other trims in lots of colours. Stuff you don't see any more in other stores.

Haha! I go through different phases of colours. This time definitely had a neutral theme ☺️
I tried sewing with plain fabrics, got soooo bored 😂. I love vibrant colours and on a stripe fabric craze now making shirts for work. 😊
