What a beautiful Vlog you've made here, thank you! I recently decided to extend my trip another week, as my itinerary was looking tight to squeeze Hokkaido in. Videos like this make me grateful I did, as I wanted to spend more than just a full day here. Thanks for sharing!
Just bumped in to this video of yours and loved it so much that i ended up watching some other vlogs in a row...the norway one was amazing aswell. Totally admired the way you bros vlog each tour. Subscribed ❤
This is a great video. I am planning to visit Japan late April and am inspired to visit Hokkaido watching this video. One question: is this place really as beautiful as seen in the video? Or your editing skills play the role here? 😊
Thank you! To answer your question, we could say this - Hokkaido is really beautiful but it depends how you look at it. Spring and summer offers colorful flower fields and that was one of the main reason we wanted to visit it so we pointed out in our video to things which caught our interest. Hope you have a great trip and enjoy Hokkaido as we did 😊
Hokkaido is the best place to be in Japan. You can reach Noboribetsu, Jozankei, Otaru, Asahikawa by public transpo. If you are in a budget like me but traveling time is not an issue, take the bus from Sapporo.
Thank you and if you are interested to see some of the maps from our road trip, please check our Japan Travel Ideas video - "How to travel Japan in 2 weeks" and you can just skip to Hokkaido part to see the map of the locations. Hope that helps!
Our trip was around same time and we got lucky with the cherry blossom so hope you have the same luck😊 You can check www.japan-guide.com/sakura/ for more information about 2024 sakura season in Japan. Hope that helps and have a great trip!!
Gonna visit Hokkaido this April 24th, am I gonna be too early for cherry blossoms? Was hoping to see both the blossoms and maybe a little snow, is it feasible or am I asking for too much? 😂
you might be lucky because it changes every season and this season looks like cherry blossom will be little earlier than last year so hope you have a great trip and see both 😊
@@suemohd2229 there still might be some snow by the end of April and the cherry blossom season peaks around the time of Golden Week - late April to early May. Hope you have a great trip 😊
We flew from Tokyo to Sapporo where we rented a car because some of the destinations are probably not accessible by public transportation, so we suggest to check local public transit. Hope you have a great trip!
Thank you for the nice video. I'll be going to Hokkaido in mid May this year. Hope i can catch sights of cherry blossom. In your video, you mentioned about the cherry blossom at Sobetsu. Did you just stop your car by the side of the road to see the flowers? Or are there car parks nearby for you to stop your car?
Thank you! We just stopped on the road since we didn't expect to see any more cherry blossom trees. It was a total surprise as we drove by them 😊especially around Sobetsu, Lake Toya area.
@@VincentF-m3n the are many places you can't reach without a car and if you like to explore Hokkaido, we would suggest to rent a car. It is also very refreshing to drive on the open road around the country. You can see the country side, amazing sunsets and beautiful landscape of Hokkaido and make a stop to enjoy it! Hope you have a great trip!
Bonjour from Quebec, going hiking and Exploring the island for a month. Searching for that kind of car...for 28 days..how much do you estimate fuel for 300 000 km around the island. Insurance? AND rent... where did you book that car...at the airport or prior? Need a translated or international driving permit ? seems easy to drive on the left side... yes? Your video are perfect for me, thanks ...
Hello 😊 We are glad our video is helpful for you and we will try to answer your questions. Firstly, we rented our car couple of months in advance via Booking.com and with local rental company Budget by Japan. We picked up our car at the airport and you need an international drivers license/permit to drive in Japan. It was pretty easy to drive and we mostly drove country roads. We stayed off the highways because we wanted to see the countryside but it's also pretty expensive to go on an expressway. However, to give you an advice from our own experience, make sure you fuel night before if you are planning to drive early morning because most of the gas stations around the island open later (8 - 9 am) For estimating the costs it is very hard to say since the value of Yen keeps changing but everything in Japan is relatively cheaper so if you know the price of a full tank of gas you can change it into Yen and see how much it would cost but for us we did not worry about it too much. Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the beautiful island of Hokkaido!!
Ahhhh merci!!!! That was nice to answer so quickly...I am booking a Toyota corolla, 28 days from Chisose, $40 canadien per day. Thanks, and I won't take highways...!!! May be sleeping in my car...18 septembre to 24 octobre.. Yahooooo

Is rental car pretty much a must when visiting Hokkaido?

Good one...which month you actually visited...I am going next year in April
Thank you :) We visited Hokkaido in late spring from May 22nd to May 26th. Hope you have a great trip 😊

We visited Hokkaido from May 22-26, 2023
Hey, do you know the minimum age to rent and drive a car in Hokkaido? And was your rent an automatic or a stick shift?
It is 18 years old the legal minimum age for driving in Hokkaido and we rented an automatic car. Hope that helps!

How did you pay for the toll fees in Hokkaido? Did the rental car come with an ETC reader?
yes, that's correct and it was charged by the rental car company, however, we didn't drive on toll roads much since we wanted to explore the country
