I am a big fan of Hirsch straps. I have a 6.7" wrist so I have the same problem and, at the moment, I'm wearing a 20mm watch with a Hirsch Duke 110mm x 70mm.
The one (other) annoying thing about wearing a standard length strap on a slimmer wrist that you didn't mention was that, even if you slide the keeper up the strap to try to keep the tail end of the strap from sticking out, it usually just slides back down again.
Although Hirsch has a really good range of shorter straps in 20mm (and other "standard" lug widths), if you have a "non standard" lug width (like 19mm), there are hardly any straps available (although the Duke is an exception to this rule).

I just want something that fits on my wrist and doesn't have the tail end of the strap extending ridiculously away from my wrist. Can't find a single one in my budget I don't care about quality at this point. I'm not about to pay more than I did for the watch for a strap that actually fits.
Right now I'm using the crappy replacement strap that came with a watch I recently got off ebay. Punched a new hole but can't even trim off the excess because I'd just reveal the plastic nothingness on the inside.

Wow, Hirsch really made a name of themselves at the international market. As an Austrian, I have been using Hirsch straps for years. Specially, their more expensive straps that are still produced in Austria. I actually visited the factory ones. I didn't expect a smaller Austrian company that started as a family business to grow into one of the biggest players in watch straps.

Great info. Even though in on the other end of the spectrum at 8.25”, it’s good to know they offer the longer lengths too.
The hybrid straps would be great for our humid areas we live in. 👍🏼

I can really recommend straps from Mays Berlin. They do straps after your requirements - lenght, no of holes, width, design of the buckle ect. Very good quality. The only "bad" thing is the delivery time. But these straps are worth the wait.

Accidently got a 16mm strap for my spre39 😂🤦🏽‍♂️Still learning. Because of my small wrist I thought the sizes were length until I looked at the fine print in the description. Live and learn right?

Thanks for making this. Now that I think of it, I use the last hole on every one of my straps (6.5 inch wrist). I've bought shorter straps for my wife's watches but haven't thought of doing it for myself too. I also like the idea of the hybrid performance straps for the summer time, as I usually put away leather in the spring and wait for the cold to come back.

Having spent a lot of money on so-so straps that I was never happy with, I can't say enough for the Nomos shell cordovan straps (which come in several lengths). For $100, you get a strap that out classes everything else I've tried (including T&H and Hodinkee), and it's comfortable from the first wear.
Edit: The Hirsch James is excellent for sweat/water though. I've never owned anything else quite like it.

Excellent demonstration Guy, I've been looking into purchasing a high quality strap for some time but was worried about which size to purchase. Having a 6.5 inch wrist, you've just resolved my problem. I love your channel as you seem to have the same hangups as myself, I keep saying to myself, wow, that's exactly what I think. What can I say, but perfectionism is an illness, so your not alone my friend, thanks for the video.

I'm in a similar situation. I have a couple of 19mm lug width watches and, I'm picking up a Black Bay 36 in a few weeks. Although I see jubilee style bracelets being worn more frequently with casual clothes these days, I think that the new style BB36 might be more versatile on a strap (I do have another watch that came on a jubilee bracelet. It stayed on the bracelet for about a week and I never once considered going back to it, but the new Tudor bracelets are exceptionally good so I am in a bit of a quandary)
The shorter length Hirsch Duke is available in 19mm. I think it's a great strap for the money but I don't think it would suit the older style BB36 dials and it's not as shiny as other mock croc / alligator embossed straps so I don't think it would suit the shiny dials on the newer BB36s either (Hirsch also does a cheap shiny bonded leather embossed croc but it looks cheap). I have seen a shorter length alligator strap from Hirsch but some of their exotic leathers seem not to be as easily available as they once were outside of Europe, presumably due to CITES export regulations.
I live in the UK (which, is, unfortunately, "outside Europe" these days) and I've been thinking about staps from a UK supplier called the strap tailor. They offer several off the shelf 19mm options in 110mm x 65mm (their "standard" size is 120 x 70mm).

Having a 8.5" wrist I generally swap out the 120/80 sizes for 130/90 straps. I have a Air Blue Bravo Chrono, that's 44mm and the stock strap is 120/80 and I use the first or 2nd hole, depending on the weather. Would like to use the 3rd or 4th hole.

Hi Guy, thanks for this very informative video. I have a 6" wrist so learning about these shorter straps was great. Just FYI, I found and ordered the Hirsch Buffalo short leather strap (for my Hamilton Khaki 38mm) on Amazon for $39, so I saved a few bucks. I wouldn't have even known they existed if not for your info so thanks again bro!

I have smaller wrists (but 178cm tall) and I always have to punch in my own holes. The last hole is way too loose to be comfortable and it's got a long flappy excess of strap hanging out at the back. The struggles.
