I pre-ordered this product and received it recently. I got the wifi version. Works quite well. I was concerned about the view because my doorbell was mounted very low, like 3 feet off the ground. It turned out, the view was quite good and is wired angle to cover all the front entrance.

So finally got the door bell actually quite disappointed that the door bell doesn't actually call your mobile to say someone is at the door. A notification by default will only send you a notification which is a short notification. I've had to assign a 30 second notification ring tone to a notification tone?? unless me and lot of other who are moaning about this feature has missed it some where?? Thanks for this vid though i will eventually implement the what you have done. How has the door bell been for the last 9 months??thanks paul

I pre-ordered and just got my POE one in the mail. I'm SO happy with it. I ran cat 6 to my door when I redid the entry and built a nice enclosure with plans to get the unifi poe doorbell but ultimately decided to wait. Good thing too! I love relinks other cameras and use blue iris for everything. All my cameras are poe and my switch is connected to a battery back so my doorbell will keep recording even if the power goes out

But in all other respects, it definitely ticks all the boxes. It is very easy to set up. The app works great. On the first day , I was able to talk to my postie to arrange a parcel redelivery, as I was away from home. Good price 👍

This is the second home in which th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).

I'm not sure you really understand the point of Home Assistant which is to make everything local. Ring depends on the cloud and is basically what I call subscription "bait'. Buy it, you want some feature and you have to subscribe to get it. It fits a large section of the market, it's just not for me.

We bought the Reolink Wi-Fi doorbell camera to add to our other seven Reolink cameras. Oddly, it would record to the micro SD (128GB) but it would not present the Storage option on either Windows client. If we clicked Playback, it would warn us it had no playback...but once we confirmed the message, it would playback. We presumed it was defective and bought another one...with the same effects. All of our other cameras had the Storage option. After multiple days, we emailed support. The day that they replied, it suddenly had a Storage option and it now had the Talk, Audio Alarm, etc., buttons on the live video. I suspect something auto-updated, but I have no idea what resolved the issue.

    My wishlist for this doorbell:
1: Allow activating the “quick replies” from Home Assistant 1: If you want that as well please ask Reolink to enable it in their API. This has many uses. e.g. when you can configure home asistant to send you a notification with a picture when someone presses the doorbell (or even when it detects a person) and the notification can have several options that you can click on for what the speaker should say (e.g. leave the package at the door).
face recognition: When the camera sees a person I have Home Assistant send me a notification with a screenshot. I’d like to be able to not send me those screenshots when it’s my wife etc. Not sure how to do that.
2: Allow activating the alarm sound from Home Assistant:
3: 2-way audio: would be great to have this working in Home Assistant and Synology Surveillance Station
4: Full integration with Synology Surveillance Station: (play custom sounds trough the doorbell, detect person, detect doorbell press, 2-way audio) (There's a form your can fill in to request Synology).
    Weird things about the doorbell:
1: Important information to make the Reolink work remotely with a VPN if you’ve blocked it from accessing the internet: by default the Reolink app adds the doorbell based on the ‘UID’ rather than it’s IP address and then it only works using the cloud once you have excited the app and open it again. To make sure you add the doorbell based on it’s IP address you need to delete the device if you already added it. Then disable wifi on your smartphone so that you are on mobile data. Then activate the VPN. Then add the doorbell using the option ‘input UID/IP’ then choose the IP option and enter the camera’s IP address.
2: This night the doorbell gave lots of person detection events (false as there was no-one) and no motion detection events. I don’t understand that as I thought a person detection event would always be preceded by a motion detected event.
3: When the doorbell switched to Infrared mode and vice-versa it seems to be falsely reported as a motion detected event. That’s a bit amateuristic.

You can control the volume of the Chime by pressing its button. Initially the volume goes up when you press the button. After the volume reaches the highest, it goes down if you keep pressing the button.
Please note that the settings of the Chime can only be done locally; you can NOT control the Chime via App or Client. [from the website]

I’m considering to buy this Doorbell but I have a specific need that maybe you can tell me if it’s possible.
One of my most important needs is two way audio in AppleWatch.
So I can see that reolink integration already have two way audio. (At least with Scrypted). Do you have any idea if it’s possible to achieve two way audio in AppleWatch using home assistant, scrypted and home bridge?

Your best statement: "Goodbye Ring, Hello Reolink". I am waiting for the POE version to become in the US, was promised for Dec. Will be using with Blue Iris with integration with HA. I have two Rings to replace, so I'm not sure if each Reolink can only work with it's dedicated chime, or if there is a way that both chimes will sound regardless of which Reolink is signaling it. That is possible with the Ring system. Thanks for going over the useful HA automations and this long awaited review.

      1. The Reolink Video Doorbell camera requires the user to bypass the existing chime first to get sufficient power. Without this step, there may be problems including but not limited to:
The doorbell camera can't be powered on or it will be rebooted abnormally.
The doorbell camera can be powered on but can't work stably.
The existing mechanical chime will vibrate or sound abnormally.
      2. The existing mechanical chime will not work anymore after the bypass.
      3. Be careful when handling the circuit wiring. If you have any questions or need assistance, contact a qualified electrician.
after reading this are you able to run the original chime with the doorbell and have sufficient power?

Had to do some extra setup to get the notofications pop up at my android devices.
there is one thing still not working. I see the popup and the snapshot is a small thumbnail instead of the real image. I have to swipe down in the notification to see the larger image.
Is there a way to just get the image as a notificatien? Such that it is large image?

Hi Ed, thank you for these instructions. I have setup the reolink integration but although the camera stream works fine the options like visitor and motion detection are visible but don't react. Hi I like your video's.
I also got a reolink and am testing before I replace my old doorbell. In HA there is quite some delay. I see about 1 -3sec to a HA card. I have the bell wired to the network. IS that a normal delay that I should expect, or could it be faster? Is there something i could change in the settings to make that faster
Also I see 2 protocols RTSP, RTMP and FLV could that make any difference in delay?

I was wondering, if there is audio when you integrate it with home assistant? ANd an option to have the audio 2 way? (found some old threads that say HA does not have those abilities, cause ther app is unable to process mic input, but now with Year of the Voice almost over, that seems to have changed).
