That was crappy remaster for Gamecube & modern platformsDX only, not the original. Not the only time Sega based Generations stage decisions for SA1+2 on the wrong versions.
... I think I like the basegame's deep cuts better than your choices honestly. Tails being at the end of Green Hill, which appears in both of the first two handheld Sonic games including his first ever appearance Sonic 2 (8-bit) where he was literally kidnapped, as well as the narrative point of getting him first to help make sense of the narrative, makes a ton of sense to me. For Amy, not only does CD not have a stage, it does however have a rival that's available right after Chemical Plant afaik, which makes it interesting that she's once again this close to the Metal Sonic race in Speed Highway again (only this time she's gotten BEFORE it). And yea, both CD and 2 were developped to be sequels, but also she's in the most industrial "Classic" zone, which makes sense with zones like Stardust Speedway, Wacky Workbench, and pretty much all the "Bad Future" versions of every zone from CD. Them placing Cream in Speed Highway as a reference to the Adventure DX cameos is really satisfying imo, far more than trying to connect her to Chip just to justify placing her in Rooftop Run instead. And since all the others then make basic sense, I have no issue with having Vector in Rooftop Run because, well, where else would you put a detective agency if not in good old Europe? They're some of the closests to being just average civilians in the main cast, and it's not like Unleashed featured much of the animal cast. (I also think time being screwed up... wouldn't be enough to bring Chip back. He's a godly character, you'd have to force him out of his millenia-long slumber by waking up Dark Gaia as well, who seems to be a nonissue even in Rooftop Run as a stage, so the Time Eater... *somehow* brought back Iblis but *not* Dark Gaia)
Yeah they're not perfect, but they're all really good for what they are since their main goal was just trying to represent as much of the main cast as they could. The 1/2/CD split was handled really well and of course the Chaotix only have so many modern games to work with.
@@SouIess glad someone noticed it~. I didn't make the original fusion design, but I did make the render itself, as my little take on said fusion design. ^^

By the way, Big the Cat was actually originally gonna be in Sonic Generations as his voice actor, Kyle Hebert, has confirmed that he did record lines for him in this game but got removed from the final game for unknown reasons.
Perhaps they just wanted 3 Zones per era. But they could’ve just put Big in speed highway. And add a level from Sonic Advance 2 and put Cream there. Also where’s Omega?
Couldn't you put Amy in Rooftop Run since she's in Spagonia with Professor Pickle for most of Unleashed, and then keep the cameo connection for Cream in Speed Highway? Especially since Chao debuted in Sonic Adventure 1 so Cheese fits there too
@@slimgrim3607 Yea I honestly feel like everyone's original positions were fine, I'm just saying if we're gonna change em up anyways I feel like this works better than the alternative
I also am fine with how the characters are positioned… even if Vector & Charmey are rescued in the Modern Era while Espio’s in the Dreamcast Era. But for the characters being rescued. I like how it represents the supporting cast of each era. Mostly. Like, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles have been around since the Classic games. Cream, Rouge, and Espio became fan favorites by the time of the Dreamcast Era. And Blaze, Vector, and Charmey were becoming recurring cast members in the Modern Games.
If i had to reshuffle them, i would do it like that: Green Hill -> Vector (Band Concept Art) Chemical Plant -> Tails (Game of Origin) Sky Sanctuary -> Knux (Game of Origin) Speed Highway -> Cream and Cheese (Chaos are a huge Part of SA1's Story + its the Origin of the so beloved Chao Garden) City Escape -> Rouge (Game of Origin) Seaside Hill -> Espio Crisis City -> Blaze (first Mainline appearence) Rooftop Run -> Amy (you encounter her in Spagonia) Planet Wisp -> Charmy (You encounter him there in Colours DS) What will be interesting, is how Shadow Generations could add Characters, that didnt got the Cut or even bring back DEAD Characters We know, that in the Trailer, Omega stands around the Space Colony Ark entrance at some point, but just for fun: Space Colony Ark -> Emerl (Was also on the Ark with Shadow, Maria and Gerald) Radical Highway -> Maria (Game of Origin and bigger Role here than in Shadow 05) Rail Canyon -> Omega (Game of Origin) (Potential Shadow 05 Stage) -> Gerald Robotnik (bigger Role here than in SA2) Kingdom Valley -> Elise (Game of Origin + i expect Mephiles to be a Boss/Rival Battle) Sunset Hights -> Infinite (Game of Origin, but i would prefer him to be a Boss/Rival Battle tbh) Chaos Island -> Big (Frontiers Fishing Minigame)
If you could save maria in shadow generations, then I'd expect it to be close to the end of the game tbh, it just seems like shadow getting to atleast talk to maria would be near the ending since shes been dead for a while
@@beatziegraham6928 None of the mainline games are on handheld systems. I would have picked professor pickles for rooftop run, since I could realistically see him showing up to Sonic's birthday. It's quite clear that they picked the characters first, and then assigned them to stages.
well unfortuately this game out during when sega was really deadset on trying erase humans from the series, so there was no chance of professor pickle appearing here

Cream made an appearance in Station Square (as a cameo, flying around the city) and Speed Highway is the level representation of the Station Square city. So yes, Cream in Station Square actually makes sense. I don’t think she appears in the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure, but I think it’s safe to say that Sega wants us to take SADX and SA2B as the definitive, canon versions of these games.
Eh while that might of been the case when designing them for Heroes, Chaotix is solidly canon again according to Tailstube and IDW. (Thank God for the death of the Meta Era)
Switch Cream and Amy and it's perfect. Cream appeared in SA1 DX and Amy plays a big role in the story of Unleashed. You were so close to it being perfect lol, good job.
I feel like as far as Amy's spot, they could have had her be rescued when you beat the Metal Sonic boss, considering it takes place in Stardust Speedway and all. As for Sonic 1 reps, I could have seen the little animal characters being rescued as a batch. They are what Sonic used to rescue all the time back in the day. That would have left room for Tails to be in Chemical Plant instead of Amy.
Ok here's my idea Green Hill: Sonic rescues some small animals like he did back than talking about how its been a long time since hes done that. Chemical Plant: Sonic rescues Tails And possibly he could have also rescued Amy during the Metal Sonic race as a callback to Sonic CD
Personally I think the bigger issue was not providing cool stages to match the characters better. Imagine an actual Knuckle's Chaotix stage where Sonic and Tails have to use that stupid ring to beat both the 3D and 2D stages and by doing that, they unlock the entire Chaotix team instead of just Espio? Or Amy got a Sonic CD themed stage, where you could actually flip the signs and travel into the past or into the future in the 2D stage, and in the 3D stage you were forced to go into the future and into the past to beat it? Would've been awesome. How about Cream representing Sonic Heroes, and in there you join forces with Tails and Knuckles to form Team Sonic and rescue Cream? Just thoughts, but I don't know I think this would've been neat. It probably would've been difficult to learn these new gameplay styles on the fly though, so maybe it's a bad idea.
I think Vector being the first character you rescue in Green Hill Zone makes sense since he was the first one to theorize that the Time Eater isn't acting alone, foreshadowing that Eggman and Robotnik were controlling the beast.
Why was Vector was in Rooftop Run? What to the Werehog and Vector have in common? Big strong dudes with gravely voices but are nice guys. Why was Charmy was in Planet Wisp? What do Wisps and Charmy have in common? Small flying creatures that zoom around. Seems fitting
Vector was also going to be in Sonic 1 itself as the DJ for the Sound Test screen, much like Amy is in Sonic Advance where she plays maracas along to the songs you pick. However, he was cut from the game as far as I know so the sound test is a generic one.
Here's my input of a sonic fan you upset. Tails is Sonic's 1st friend, why not put him in Green Hill. Sonic 2 & Sonic CD were both sequels & thier representations are placed together so Amy is obvious choice/obvious awnser. Sonic Adventure introduced the species of Chao as a whole & Chaos who is technically a Chao, so with Cream & CHEESE THE CHAO, again obvious choice. Then we got the stranglers with Vector & Charmy alongside the 2 games that did not use Sonic's extra friends, only Tails & Amy so thier placements don't matter to me, those 2 could've been whichever way they wanted to go since on the DS all of Team Chaotix appear on Planet Wisp's extra missions so both made sense but they stuck Vector with the Werehog game & Charmy with the Wisp game, so it's fine. I don't get the beef that you seem to make alot worse with your choices, the original choices are fine. Next time, find something that's actually worse than this pointless topic to be mad at cause this feels like a waste of a video.
Tails is the main partner character, so it makes sense he’s saved first. Amy and Vector’s placements just kinda there because they had nowhere else to put them. Cream & Cheese appeared in SA1 DX as a cameo, flying around the hub. Charmy was in Planet Wisp in Sonic Colors DS. They don’t make sense at first glance, but if you are a Sonic nerd and also know that not all characters could fit their slots, it makes sense.
Amy being rescued in Chemical Plant could be a reference to the development of _Sonic CD,_ as that game was intended to be the _Sonic 2,_ but development shenanigans occurred, and the Genesis Game developed by the U.S. branch ended up being the _Sonic 2_ we got, and _Sonic CD_ was kind of a side game for a console accessory.
@@lance2580 Maybe, but it probably is also just, “We gotta get one of our main characters from the Classic era saved first. So we gotta have Amy in Chemical Plant since it’s the only other place we got for her.”
you have to think about how metal sonic was the rival in chemical plant, rather than thinking about the level. putting Amy with metal sonic makes perfect sense. But I really have nothing for vector, but I'm guessing because they already had espio and charmy, and one open zone, they shoved vector in.
Most of it makes sense when you consider why. Tails HAS to be the first one rescued. Without Tails for Sonic 2, or a Sonic CD level, Amy is the best fit for Sonic 2. Knuckles is in the perfect spot. Cream officially comes from Advance 2, but did cameo in SADX. Rouge is in the perfect spot. Chaotix isn't represented, and Sonic Heroes was Espio's (as well as Charmy and Vector's) reintroduction. Rush isn't represented on Console, and 06 was Blaze's Console debut. Vector and Charmy just kind of got last pickings.
Rooftop Run looks like a party's going on. Those headphones and that chain necklace make Vector look like he'd enjoys a good party. That might be why they picked him for that stage.
6:29 In paper it sounds great, but there's a problem for all of them: they're either just one-off characters for their respective games that bringing them for a Multiverse of Madness-like appearance would feel off or... *they're the most polarizing characters from the most polarizing games ever made in the series* (Big can be an exception since he's turned into a random guy nowadays, and some general criticism of said games has changed)
Depends how she’s written, don’t make her constantly kidnapped throughout most of the story and exclude any romantic implications between Sonic and her. In fact why not make Elise already married with a kid?
@@lerdog She’d still have the same design and personality, just the story around her done better to hopefully redeem her. A lot of characters in the series had a bit of regression until recently improved. Same could be done for Elise.
Nobody likes Chip man... For Cream, its like Cheese is invisible to you. Cream is always accompanied by Cheese, they are a pair. Chaos are introduced in Sonic Adventure 1
I guess they had Tails saved from Green Hills because he's basically sonic's best bud, so I imagine Sonic would prioritize saving him first, also since you'd have played through classic Green Hills when you start the game, Tails is basically saved after the very first level... Also regarding the chemical plant zone thing, they do kind of acknowledge it, because Tails doesn't imediately recognize Green Hills, but he does recognize Chemical Plant Zone... As for why Amy is in there? I...have no Idea...Maybe because the Metal Sonic boss is in the Chemical Plant Zone section? and they just don't have a CD stage aside from that? As for Cream in SA1, I'd go with a) a lot of people mentioned that it was the origin of the chao... I'd also probably through in that even if she debuted in advance, she just... kinda feels like she fits in better with the Adventure era levels, (That just gets me thinking that they should have had levels based on the handheld games for the handheld port of Generations) Also if we're using the 'Beta character design' thing as a reason for vector as green hills, then couldn't you also do Cream, since sonic was originally supposed to be a rabbit
Another thing that would make Sonic x Shadow Generations even better is a couple extra zones in the Sonic Generations side of the game from Sonic CD and Sonic Frontiers for example
I'm glad you ended up covering all of the things I was gonna mention lol, from the SADX cameo of Cream, Amy fitting well if rearranged into Speed Highway, or Vector predating every single character of this cast lol
Tails - who else? Amy - c doesn’t have a stage and 2 doesn’t have a character since tails is already used Knuckles - yay Cream - could be big but cream is more important and the side mission in speed highway that she is in looks kinda like route 99 but she needed to be put somewhere and sa1 cream cameos Rouge - sa2 Espio - detective agency Blaze - Sonic 06 jumpscare Vector he needed to be put somewhere and again who else, they aren’t bringing pack chip or professor pickle😔 Charmy - was the character you meet first in planet wisp on the ds version
For some reason listening people talking about and nitpicking aspects of Sonic lore and reimagining them tickles my brain, I could listen to this for like 24 hours straight
They should’ve brought back E-102 Gamma for Speed Highway. He debuted in Sonic Adventure and so did the stage it represents, it it makes a lot of sense. Edit: Cream and Cheese would be moved into a new stage ironically representing Shadow the Hedgehog (2005).
Yeah they should’ve. Gamma has been dead for a long time and I think he should be brought back for the main games. He had a good story in SA1 and had a very decent gameplay.
Here's why I think the games character placement make sense Tails in Green Hill will make sense when we take a look at the next character Amy in Chemical Plant doesn't really make sense at first, even if you swap her with Tails it wouldn't make sense for her but if you look at 2 & CDs release dates you'll see that Amy debuted in a game after Tails so really 4:02 it's not that deep Knuckles' placement checks out and with that you have all the classic characters in the Classic Era Cream in Speed Highway you could say makes sense because she did debut around that time, you could also say this 4:46 but I choose not to because there's one character you straight up neglected AND I'M CALLING YOU OUT ON IT (jk not serious) and that was Cheese, since Cheese is a chao it makes sense for then to be in Speed Highway because chao appeared in Adventure Rouges placement checks out Espio in Seaside Hill makes sense. Now really any other member if Team Chaotix would've made sense but Espio was the best decision and I'll talk about why later. This concludes the Dreamcast Era (or the Gamecube Era since all those games did release on that system) Blazes placement checks out And now for the final 2 characters As I said before, you could've chose any member of Team Chaotix for Seaside Hill but now here's why Espio was the best pick for that level Vector in Rooftop Run makes sense when you think about it because it's a city level and Vector has some bling bling and a pair of headphones. He just looks like a character that would appear in that type of environment because of his design Charmy in Planet Wisp makes sense when you look at kind of the same philosophy as Vector's placement. Charmy's a bee and his species typically live in environments with foliage. And while you could say this 5:33 , I'm dismissing it cause i'm petty about you forgetting about Cheese. Also I don't think they had the handheld version of Colors in mind
Cream makes sense because she always has Cheese with her. A chao. The Chao and Chaos are integral to rhe plot of Sonic Adventure. Choosing Vector kind of makes sense because he is physically bigger than most of the main cast and very roughly shaped like a werehog. But of course, thats a big stretch.
Are you actually serious right now? I think its completely irrelevant to how they are placed in the game. Not as much as a big deal compared to what SEGA has done in SonicXShadow Generations to the original cutscenes. Also changing the dialogue between characters when its not needed at all.
Honestly, outside Cream, who's a MASSIVE stretch, everyone else makes a lot of sense. Vector being a Sonic 1 Concept, Tails having his first playable debut in Sonic 2, Knuckles in his family's ancestral flying temple, Amy in her first Playable game in the stage directly next to Amy's first stage, Rouge in the game she debuted in, Espio in his first game since Chaotix, Blaze in her second game ever, one she's a main driving force of, and Charmy in the level of Colors (DS) he actually appears in. Cream's the only outlier, but the only game she's important to that has a rep in this game was taken by Espio already, so really no where makes sense for her, but at the same time having her NOT be at Sonic's birthday is incredibly out of character for her.
Your suggestion of adding new characters is actually pretty nice also their introduction in this game would work fine too, shadow generations is gonna have gerald and maria return as seen in the trailer so, we can just say that reality itself has fallen apart due to the time eater, characters that shouldn't know sonic, characters that shouldnt be ABLE to talk to sonic, are able to come back once more
You don't always need a rescued character to represent a stage. A few years back, and long before SEGA announced Sonic x Shadow Generations (and its gross over-focus on Shadow), I starting working on a remake on paper called Sonic Generations Plus, which combines both the console game with stages from the 3DS game. This is what I came up with: -Green Hill - Tails -Chemical Plant/Stardust Speedway - Metal Sonic (Rival Battle) -Casino Night - Amy -Mushroom Hill/Hidden Palace - Knuckles (Rescue/Rival Battle) -Sky Sanctuary - [None] -Emerald Coast - Cream -Speed Highway - Chaos (Rival Battle) -City Escape - Rouge -Pyramid Cave (since Shadow Generations took Radical Highway) - Shadow (Rescue/Rival Battle) -Seaside Hill - Espio -Water Palace - Blaze -Chaotic Inferno (in place of Crisis City) - Silver (Rescue/Rival Battle) -Rooftop Run - Vector -Tropical Resort - Big -Planet Wisp - Charmy It's not perfect, but SEGA was focusing on familiar characters and Sonic's most iconic stages, rather than who fits what stage. Also, Heroes introduced Omega and brought back three obscure characters in one single game.
Amy was put in Chemical Plant Zone because it's immediately under the Metal Sonic fight in Stardust Speedway, which represents CD. As you said Cream isn't represented by any of the games that appear in Generations, but she was created at the very beginning of the adventure era, so she fits best with SA1. Vector is the only one that has no basis. They selected the cast first so they ran out of placments
Here’s a stretch: Vector has a mild resemblance to Sonic the Werehog. He doesn’t fit the mold of the other characters, he’s a big brute with sharp teeth, and he looks like he could throw mean punches. Also if you include the banger soundtrack and variety of music: He’s like a kindred spirit for the game.
4:02 Sonic 2 8 bit came out in Japan on November 21 1992 and Europe on an unknown day November 1992 and Sonic 2 16-Bit also came out in Japan on November 21, 1992 So neither came first unless the Europe release of the 8-bit version came out earlier that month. Also Green Hills Zone is in fact a different level. There those pink diamonds and hearts card suit flowers and blue crabmeats are clear differences. The BGM is completely different too, it's actually the precursor to Masafumi Ogata - You Can Do Anything (while this would be remixed for the Mecha Green Hill Zone in Sonic Chaos, it just goes to show the 8-bit games were meant to be their own thing (Sonic Drift also had a bit of You Can Do Anything as its invincibility theme and oddly, so did Sonic Adventure).
Blaze never died in New Sonic: she used chaos control to teleport back to her home dimension: she told silver to do it but he refused as he didn’t want to lose his only friend so she did it herself. It was rendered pointless in the end as Mephiles changed the past by freeing Iblis in a place he wanted to remerge with him: by him killing Sonic just to make Elise cry & thus break the seal. This caused Iblis to be forcefully removed from Blaze & sync with his past self. We never hear him say it but he was less than happy at his more violent (in some ways) twin from ruining the peace he finally found, until Super Sonic, Shadow & Silver did to Solaris Himself what the former had previously done to Chaos.
@@iceman92211 She didn’t become a ghost, she was warping away slower than normal for the purpose of saying a dramatic goodbye to Silver. Tikal & Chaos did the same thing at the end of SA1 & both are alive: they just warped to the pocket dimension inside the Master Emerald where they’d been since Tikal stopped him the first time around. The power of the emerald granted her either a sort of energy being form or some kind of Psionic projection and/or teleportation, hence her ball of light form. This is evidenced by both being alive & well in Sonic Adventure 2 as multiplayer characters. We just don’t see them in single player as they’re unimportant in that story, minus Perfect Chaos inspiring Robotnik’s designs for the Biolizard.
@@lionocyborg6030 OK first of all I’m surprised that you even care about the other characters and continuity because this game makes it seem like you don’t even care about stories or characters in the franchise other than Sonic being fast. Second nope I’m pretty sure she died because she’s very clearly transparent in that scene which itself means that she is a ghost, which itself also means that she is dead while the other character stuff are more magical things than dying.
@@iceman92211 First, why wouldn’t I care about other characters? I always cared about other characters besides Sonic as Sonic X, Pinball Party & Advance 3, while not my first Sonic (that was Sonic R) were the first I owned & got me hooked thanks to their stories. Second, NO. You are wrong and I am right. Transparent does not mean she’s a ghost. Look at Sonic’s friends in Sonic Frontiers: they’re transparent in the exact same way & still alive: they’re just peering through barriers into our world to communicate as the rest of them was in cyberspace. Blaze was a similar case minus the digital world: it’s more she was peering out of Xen or slip space on her way to the Sol dimension. Ever heard of holograms?
@@lionocyborg6030 first well it’s simply because it’s really rare to find someone actually discuss continuity and facts about characters on this specific game because most of the time this game is just talked about for the gameplay, reused levels, classic Sonic and graphics, btw it’s cool that you actually love Sonic X just like me. Second once again, you’re wrong, because what I said about Blaze is that she was using magic with the emeralds to make herself die while the characters in frontiers are not technically dead they are just being turned into holograms that are glitchy and not being ghosts, so yeah, Blaze’s case is extremely different here.
This reminds me, Big doesn't show up anywhere in the game, only as a statue in the secret room and nowhere else, did he get lost going to the party? Are they implying that he ended up on Shadow's side of white space(that would kinda be funny and believable actually)
Yeah, the game has fun, and I played both. I personally prefer the original one, not the DS one, and I see that you have your preference as well, but they both have pros and cons. I wouldn't call it the superior one, is what I'm getting at.
Here's my picks: Emerald Hill for Tails, Stardust Speedway for Amy, Hidden Palace for Knuckles, Ice Paradise for Cream and Cheese, White Jungle for Rouge, Seaside Hill for Espio, Dead Line for Blaze, Mystic Haunt for Vector, and Planet Wisp for Charmy. When I say Stardust Speedway, I'm purely talking about the Good Future or Present Version as the Bad Future version is used as the Metal Sonic rival fight. (Hey, if Silver and Blaze can have Crisis City, then Amy and Metal can have Stardust Speedway.) Ice Paradise is in Sonic Advance 2, the game Cream debuts in. White Jungle because that's the stage where Shadow goes to rescue Rouge after noticing parallels between her and Maria, Dead Line is in Sonic Rush, the game Blaze debuts in, and Mystic Haunt is a stage in Sonic Rivals 2, which is a game between the events of Heroes and Colors that Vector makes a notable appearance in.
Wait, wouldn't Tails for emerald hill, and amy for metallic madness make more sense? Seemingly remember those being the zones where they've meet sonic! Correct case being wrong everyone.
Now talk about the actual character statues, the ones you unlock by inputting codes. Also, the title made me think you had some problem with the actual poses the characters are in when they're frozen.
I feel like when choosing locations, in-character choices mattered more to Sega than just "who appeared in what game" Knuckles has a massive stronghold of Echidna ruins dedicated to safeguarding the master emerald, Rouge has a scenic cityscape for someone known to... enjoy the finer things in life, not to mention City Escape has constant run-ins with Rouge's employers, G.U.N., Blaze is placed in the Fire area... but also has in lore ties to Crisis City as the video went over, Planet Wisp is a giant mine on the home planet of Wisps, flying aliens made of Hyper-Go-On Energy, and Danger lies where the Hyper-Bee flies. (Charmy even where's a helmet at all times for being around dangerous mining activities) plus, Charmy's a bee and the whole idea of the stage is showcase Eggman's technological developments versus nature, Bees as endangered pollinators sort of make a good representation of that. But also for the ones that supposedly don't make complete sense- Tails was in Green Hill Zone because much like how Green Hill is Sonic's most iconic stage, Tails is Sonic's most iconic ally. You can't just not start with Tails. Amy, a pink hedgehog who constantly catches up to Sonic despite often being portrayed as Slower than him (Albeit her stats are wildly inconsistent) and who debuted in one of the sequels to the first game, was in an area known for slowing Sonic down with a pink fluid from the other Sonic 1 sequel. Cream may not have been around for Sonic Adventure but was in Sonic X, a series that retold the events of Adventure 1, 2 and Sonic Battle with a heavy Cream emphasis, and Sonic X at the time was probably the most influeinfluential piece of Sonic Extended Media Vector is found in Rooftop Run, the Sonic World equivalent to London, as is a detective. I think I smell a fun Sherlock Holmes reference. Although going along my line of thinking... I have no idea why the ninja's on the beach I will admit
Since we're talking about Sonic Generations I want to mention something cool I noticed with the 3DS version. Each zone from the 3DS version fits one of the Emerald's color Green Hill for the Green Emerald Casino Night for the Purple Emerald Mushroom Hill for the Orange Emerald Emerald Coast for the Blue Emerald Radical Highway for the Red Emerald Water Palace for the Cyan Emerald And Tropical Resort for the White/Grey Emerald If they would reused the 8th Emerald or add a 9th one my pick would be Toy Kingdom for the Pink Emerald and whatever 9th could fit a 9th Chaos Emerald
Ironically cream was in sonic adventure. She makes a small cameo when she flies above the city, but she disappears in an alleyway. I know because I’ve tried to chase every single time. only for her to disappear.
How I would fix the characters goes as follows: Have it that modern Sonic is saved by completing Green Hill Act 1. Gives Classic some story significance by helping him out. Tails for Chemical Plant because that's his debut game. Knuckles and Sky Sanctuary stay the same. Keep Cream at Speed Highway because of her cameos in Sonic Adventure DX as well as the importance of the chao in that game. Even though Rogue is a weird pick for City Escape, City Escape was the most popular Adventure 2 stage on that poll Sega made so we'll leave it as is. Have the entirety of Team Chaotix saved from Seaside Hill. This references the teams in Heroes and highlights when they had the most significance aside from Knuckles Chaotix. Blaze from Crisis City is a tricky one. Sonic 06 essentially erased itself from canon at the end of the game, so it's weird to have that one here. Perhaps have a Sonic Rush stage and just keep Crisis City around for Silver's fight? Amy for Rooftop Run I feel makes sense because we see her wandering around Spagonia and in some cutscenes there. I would've preferred having a Sonic CD stage for her but this is what we have. Planet Wisp is another oddball given how none of Sonic's friends are important to the plot of Colors. They show up for side missions in the DS version but that's it. I'd either have Orbot and Cubot be saved and they know where Eggman is, or have Yacker be the one saved from there.
I agree with the game’s order more since it does make more sense for me since Tails is the OG buddy so unblocking him first makes sense (since there is no way they are readjusting the stages that badly). But it would be really funny having Vector being the first one saved, like: Vector: “Thanks for saving me Sonic…” (something Vector would say very detective like) Sonic: “Uh….no problem. What are you doing in Green Hill, if I rescued anyone else first I would have expected Tails or Amy, or even Knuckles. Like don’t get me wrong, I’m glad your safe but why are you here, in Green Hill” Vector: “Uh thanks…but yeah I get your point. Weird that I am here. Wait does that mean everyone else is stuck in limbo. IS ESPIO AND CHARMY OKAY?… You know what, you’ll save them. Maybe this is a sign from the universe though, a Sonic and Vector mission. Figuring out how to free everyone of our friends. Just us two” Sonic: “Un maybe, Oh wait is that Chemical Plant in the distance. Maybe I can find Tails there. I’M COMING BUDDY” Vector: “Whelp looks like the Vector and Sonic Detective Duo is going to have to wait for another time. Hope he finds the other Chaotix soon”
This is something people could complain about, but you realize (as you do in the video) they really didn’t have much choice. Their position make enough sense if you ask me, main characters first, then side characters… Only one who does stand out is Blaze, as she was a full main character for two games and had a bigger role in another. Still it’s fine. As for your order, I would swipe Amy and Cream, as Amy was in Unleashed as her latest game (not including black knight and colors DS) and Cream had her DX cameos. Overall fine vid. Glad you didn’t just go and say “LETS MAKE WHOLE NEW STAGES TO FOX THIS MINOR ISSUE!” As that the type of thing peeps suggest doing when it sounds like they have no idea how this works. Nice work.
Blaze makes absolute sense for crisis city, in game it’s where she lives and first appears. She’s also “from” the future timeline in that game that is represented by crisis city.
the reasoning for amy being in chemical plant could be because the metal sonic rival boss is there. amy’s entire role in sonic cd was that she got the damsel in distress treatment, being captured by metal. also, at the time, it wasn’t established which came first, cd or 2, so they included the two characters, metal and amy from cd, and then chemical plant, the level from 2.
When I did my Sonic Generations rewrite, this is what I did. Green Hill - N/A *Egg wreaking ball boss* Chimerical Plant - Tails *Motobug boss* Collision Chaos (Classic S. only) - Amy *Metal Sonic boss* Sky Sanctuary - Knuckles *Knuckles boss* Launch Base (Classic S. only) - Big *Death Egg Robot boss* (Kind of a reference to Big randomly showing up in Sonic Adventure 2) Speed Highway - Omega (a reference to Sonic fighting Gamma in SA1) *Omega boss* Blue Ridge (Modern S. only) - Cream *Chaos boss* (Chao debut in SA1, you acquire Chao in Sonic Chronicles, and Blue Ridge is near Station Square where you fight Perfect Chaos) City Escape - Rouge *Egg Hammer Tank II boss* Space Gadget (Modern S. only) - Shadow *Shadow boss* Seaside Hill - Espio (Chaotix modern appearance) *Hydro Egg Robo boss* Altitude Limit (Modern S. only) - Blaze *Blaze boss fight* Crisis City - Silver *Iblis boss fight* Rooftop Run - Marine *Ghost Kraken Boss* (Kind of a stretch, but like Chip, Marine is an idealistic childlike character) Music Plant (Modern S. only) - Vector *Egg Dragoon Boss* (Vector likes music, so this level fit well) Planet Whisp - Charmy *Egg Falcon Boss*
I think Amy's placement makes sense to me for two reasons, she was the second friend that Sonic met (before we got the Sonic Origins timeline) so they put her in the second world and in that second world there is a rival battle which is the Metal Sonic battle from Sonic CD.
You can say the same thing you said in Green Hill Zone for Rooftop Run, the only character you could’ve added in that level is Chip, but the thing is that it would ruin Unleashed’s ending and how he wasn’t gonna see Sonic again but was always gonna be with him.
Sure they’re doing that with Maria and Gerald in Shadow Generations, but I feel like it’s not really the same as what happened with Chip and Sonic where even the final scene paralleled their first thing together, but maybe that’s just me
After grouping together the Chaotix and adding Big and Omega, I would have put Team Chaotix in Green Hill Zone (Sonic band), Tails in Chemical Plant Zone (debut game), Knuckles in Sky Sanctuary (debut game), Big in Speed Highway (debut game), Rouge in City Escape (debut game), Omega in Seaside Hill (debut game), Blaze in Crisis City (playable character role), Amy in Rooftop Run (assistant to Professor Pickle), and Cream in Planet Wisp (first side character met in Colors DS).
actually amy would be perfect for rooftop run. Like absolutely. Amy is in spagonia for half the game, one of the few sonic friends in the game as well, she interacts with sonic at night in his wearhog form so she interacts with both versions of sonic in spagonia where rooftop run is, not to mention sonic saves her in that scene. might be better to leave cream in speed highway and amy in rooftop run.
I don't see why this is such a problem. Sonic Generations is one of my most favourite video games ever made and is by far the best 2011 game with little contest.
@@iceman92211 I have other great games which released in 2011 like Rayman Origins and Just Dance 3. If you want a bad game from 2011, Portal 2 is the worst 2011 game with no contest whatsoever.

Plus Cream herself had an Easter Egg Cameo in SA DX.
i would have put amy in rooftop run tbh
Well, not in the Dreamcast original, but yeah.
Only in DX, tho. Which is NOT the original version of SA1.
That was crappy remaster for Gamecube & modern platformsDX only, not the original. Not the only time Sega based Generations stage decisions for SA1+2 on the wrong versions.
I feel like Cream makes sense for Adventure because of Cheese, and the Chao’s origins.
& Chaos himself was a Mutated Chao.
Plus the Cream cameo when you come out of the casino

underrated comment
Amy does have a loose tie to ChemPlant in Sonic the Comic, with her pink quills deriving from being in its waters, I believe.
Yeah they're not perfect, but they're all really good for what they are since their main goal was just trying to represent as much of the main cast as they could. The 1/2/CD split was handled really well and of course the Chaotix only have so many modern games to work with.
A Victini and jirachi custom fusion pfp is interesting
Amy in chemical plant makes sense.... she is a toxic little bitch when modern sonic saves her.... before remakes when they made the game good

Especially since Chao debuted in Sonic Adventure 1 so Cheese fits there too
ah good ponit
the metal sonic boss fight is placed directly above the chemcial plant zone stage so thats why amy is there.
@@slimgrim3607 Yea I honestly feel like everyone's original positions were fine, I'm just saying if we're gonna change em up anyways I feel like this works better than the alternative
@@slimgrim3607Plus Tails Amy & Knuckles were basically the three main characters. Or that’s at least what SEGA believes them to. Be.

Chemical Plant -> Tails (Game of Origin)
Sky Sanctuary -> Knux (Game of Origin)
Speed Highway -> Cream and Cheese (Chaos are a huge Part of SA1's Story + its the Origin of the so beloved Chao Garden)
City Escape -> Rouge (Game of Origin)
Seaside Hill -> Espio
Crisis City -> Blaze (first Mainline appearence)
Rooftop Run -> Amy (you encounter her in Spagonia)
Planet Wisp -> Charmy (You encounter him there in Colours DS)
What will be interesting, is how Shadow Generations could add Characters, that didnt got the Cut or even bring back DEAD Characters
We know, that in the Trailer, Omega stands around the Space Colony Ark entrance at some point, but just for fun:
Space Colony Ark -> Emerl (Was also on the Ark with Shadow, Maria and Gerald)
Radical Highway -> Maria (Game of Origin and bigger Role here than in Shadow 05)
Rail Canyon -> Omega (Game of Origin)
(Potential Shadow 05 Stage) -> Gerald Robotnik (bigger Role here than in SA2)
Kingdom Valley -> Elise (Game of Origin + i expect Mephiles to be a Boss/Rival Battle)
Sunset Hights -> Infinite (Game of Origin, but i would prefer him to be a Boss/Rival Battle tbh)
Chaos Island -> Big (Frontiers Fishing Minigame)
But Sonic Rush was Blaze’s first mainline appearance. Rush is cannon. (Unless I don’t know what mainline means)
If you could save maria in shadow generations, then I'd expect it to be close to the end of the game tbh, it just seems like shadow getting to atleast talk to maria would be near the ending since shes been dead for a while

Heroes' Chaotix are basically new characters barely based on their 32X's counterparts, so we can say Espio debuted in Heroes.
Eh while that might of been the case when designing them for Heroes, Chaotix is solidly canon again according to Tailstube and IDW. (Thank God for the death of the Meta Era)
That's like saying Amy debuted in Sonic Adventure
Cream in speed high way makes sense because sometimes you might see cream flying around station square

@@Foxyfzfann yup, exactly 10 pm in my contry
Ok here's my idea
Green Hill: Sonic rescues some small animals like he did back than talking about how its been a long time since hes done that.
Chemical Plant: Sonic rescues Tails
And possibly he could have also rescued Amy during the Metal Sonic race as a callback to Sonic CD
1:39 Sonic CD was represented by a rival battle, Sonic does not save his friends from these. Though this really should have been the one exception.
This is a genuinely bizarre hill to die on.
Vector and Charmy just kind of got last pickings.
the truth is... I don't think the time eater cared who he putted where
I like how he's freaking out about the character placements even though the entire game is about shifting time to confusing extents
i think they picked vector cus his body shape is kinda simular to the werehog
I think it's more because he was the last character of the main cast, they chose that had to be shoehorned somewhere
To be honest I think Sega’s choices are fine, I don’t think they need to be changed
Rooftop Run looks like a party's going on. Those headphones and that chain necklace make Vector look like he'd enjoys a good party. That might be why they picked him for that stage.
Wait until this guy sees omega in front of space colony ark in shadow gens
6:29 In paper it sounds great, but there's a problem for all of them: they're either just one-off characters for their respective games that bringing them for a Multiverse of Madness-like appearance would feel off or... *they're the most polarizing characters from the most polarizing games ever made in the series* (Big can be an exception since he's turned into a random guy nowadays, and some general criticism of said games has changed)

For Cream, its like Cheese is invisible to you. Cream is always accompanied by Cheese, they are a pair. Chaos are introduced in Sonic Adventure 1
FINALLY! HOLY CRAP IT TOOK TO LONG TO FIND YOU! Someone finally mentioned chesse.
I guess they had Tails saved from Green Hills because he's basically sonic's best bud, so I imagine Sonic would prioritize saving him first, also since you'd have played through classic Green Hills when you start the game, Tails is basically saved after the very first level...
Also regarding the chemical plant zone thing,
they do kind of acknowledge it, because Tails doesn't imediately recognize Green Hills, but he does recognize Chemical Plant Zone...
I'd also probably through in that even if she debuted in advance, she just... kinda feels like she fits in better with the Adventure era levels,
(That just gets me thinking that they should have had levels based on the handheld games for the handheld port of Generations)
Also if we're using the 'Beta character design' thing as a reason for vector as green hills, then couldn't you also do Cream, since sonic was originally supposed to be a rabbit
Another thing that would make Sonic x Shadow Generations even better is a couple extra zones in the Sonic Generations side of the game from Sonic CD and Sonic Frontiers for example
I'm glad you ended up covering all of the things I was gonna mention lol, from the SADX cameo of Cream, Amy fitting well if rearranged into Speed Highway, or Vector predating every single character of this cast lol
i love how kiro just talks about random crap like this its Great and somehow entertaining.
Tails - who else?
Amy - c doesn’t have a stage and 2 doesn’t have a character since tails is already used
Knuckles - yay
Cream - could be big but cream is more important and the side mission in speed highway that she is in looks kinda like route 99 but she needed to be put somewhere and sa1 cream cameos
Rouge - sa2
Espio - detective agency
Blaze - Sonic 06 jumpscare
Vector he needed to be put somewhere and again who else, they aren’t bringing pack chip or professor pickle😔
Charmy - was the character you meet first in planet wisp on the ds version
sonic fans will argue about anything huh
to add my two cents (as I am a sonic fan and as such I must argue), I think sonic generations kinda sucks actually
For some reason listening people talking about and nitpicking aspects of Sonic lore and reimagining them tickles my brain, I could listen to this for like 24 hours straight
I think Vector is supposed to represent The Werehog due to both being 2 of some of the largest animals that helps Sonic (One literally is him lol)
Imagine making a 10 minute long video to nitpick such a minor thing
They should’ve brought back E-102 Gamma for Speed Highway. He debuted in Sonic Adventure and so did the stage it represents, it it makes a lot of sense.
Edit: Cream and Cheese would be moved into a new stage ironically representing Shadow the Hedgehog (2005).
Yeah they should’ve. Gamma has been dead for a long time and I think he should be brought back for the main games. He had a good story in SA1 and had a very decent gameplay.
Here's why I think the games character placement make sense
Tails in Green Hill will make sense when we take a look at the next character
Amy in Chemical Plant doesn't really make sense at first, even if you swap her with Tails it wouldn't make sense for her but if you look at 2 & CDs release dates you'll see that Amy debuted in a game after Tails so really 4:02 it's not that deep
Knuckles' placement checks out and with that you have all the classic characters in the Classic Era
Cream in Speed Highway you could say makes sense because she did debut around that time, you could also say this 4:46 but I choose not to because there's one character you straight up neglected AND I'M CALLING YOU OUT ON IT (jk not serious) and that was Cheese, since Cheese is a chao it makes sense for then to be in Speed Highway because chao appeared in Adventure
Rouges placement checks out
Espio in Seaside Hill makes sense. Now really any other member if Team Chaotix would've made sense but Espio was the best decision and I'll talk about why later. This concludes the Dreamcast Era (or the Gamecube Era since all those games did release on that system)
Blazes placement checks out
And now for the final 2 characters
As I said before, you could've chose any member of Team Chaotix for Seaside Hill but now here's why Espio was the best pick for that level
Vector in Rooftop Run makes sense when you think about it because it's a city level and Vector has some bling bling and a pair of headphones. He just looks like a character that would appear in that type of environment because of his design
Charmy in Planet Wisp makes sense when you look at kind of the same philosophy as Vector's placement. Charmy's a bee and his species typically live in environments with foliage. And while you could say this 5:33 , I'm dismissing it cause i'm petty about you forgetting about Cheese. Also I don't think they had the handheld version of Colors in mind
Cream in speed highway is better than even puting elise in tha game
Cream makes sense because she always has Cheese with her. A chao. The Chao and Chaos are integral to rhe plot of Sonic Adventure.
Choosing Vector kind of makes sense because he is physically bigger than most of the main cast and very roughly shaped like a werehog. But of course, thats a big stretch.
3:49 TAILS BEST FRIEND🗣️📢
THEY ARE IMPOSTERS SONIC 🗣️🗣️
Sonic has 9 friends. SEGA needed 9 stages for rescuing each friend. It's not that complicated to think about. 🤷♂️😅
Yeah he has 9 friends and yet none of them are playable and he doesn’t care if they die or not.
I legit thought you put Vector in GHZ just because he's green
This is such an obscure topic for a video but it's a video I never knew I needed
Are you actually serious right now? I think its completely irrelevant to how they are placed in the game. Not as much as a big deal compared to what SEGA has done in SonicXShadow Generations to the original cutscenes. Also changing the dialogue between characters when its not needed at all.
Really solid video. You really had me in the first half. I was worried you were going to stick to your opinions in the first part of the video.
This is a complete non issue
Amy in Speed Highway,........one of the levels she couldnt access......suuuuure
Your suggestion of adding new characters is actually pretty nice
also their introduction in this game would work fine too, shadow generations is gonna have gerald and maria return as seen in the trailer
so, we can just say that reality itself has fallen apart due to the time eater, characters that shouldn't know sonic, characters that shouldnt be ABLE to talk to sonic, are able to come back once more
I don't know. Cream being at Speed Highway could make sense considering she has Cheese with her and Adventure introduced the Choas
This is what I came up with:
-Green Hill - Tails
-Chemical Plant/Stardust Speedway - Metal Sonic (Rival Battle)
-Casino Night - Amy
-Mushroom Hill/Hidden Palace - Knuckles (Rescue/Rival Battle)
-Sky Sanctuary - [None]
-Emerald Coast - Cream
-Speed Highway - Chaos (Rival Battle)
-City Escape - Rouge
-Pyramid Cave (since Shadow Generations took Radical Highway) - Shadow (Rescue/Rival Battle)
-Seaside Hill - Espio
-Water Palace - Blaze
-Chaotic Inferno (in place of Crisis City) - Silver (Rescue/Rival Battle)
-Rooftop Run - Vector
-Tropical Resort - Big
-Planet Wisp - Charmy
It's not perfect, but SEGA was focusing on familiar characters and Sonic's most iconic stages, rather than who fits what stage. Also, Heroes introduced Omega and brought back three obscure characters in one single game.
I feel like the reason creams in speed highway because she is a Easter egg in sonic adventure dx
They selected the cast first so they ran out of placments
its still a 10/10 dont get sore over that
Here’s a stretch: Vector has a mild resemblance to Sonic the Werehog.
He doesn’t fit the mold of the other characters, he’s a big brute with sharp teeth, and he looks like he could throw mean punches.
Also if you include the banger soundtrack and variety of music: He’s like a kindred spirit for the game.

If She didn’t die then why did you turn into a ghost before flying ?
5:39 "DS sonic colours"? Don't you mean the superior sonic colours? I mean, that's what it is, really...
Where are you from? cause over here in the west we call the game sonic colors
@@DmitriZamarripathey also called it Sonic colours
Pros and cons
Yeah, the game has fun, and I played both. I personally prefer the original one, not the DS one, and I see that you have your preference as well, but they both have pros and cons. I wouldn't call it the superior one, is what I'm getting at.
Yeah Colours DS is better than the original
8:36 lemme guess, the unused sonic band?
That’s insane 🤣
I feel like when choosing locations, in-character choices mattered more to Sega than just "who appeared in what game"
Knuckles has a massive stronghold of Echidna ruins dedicated to safeguarding the master emerald,
Rouge has a scenic cityscape for someone known to... enjoy the finer things in life, not to mention City Escape has constant run-ins with Rouge's employers, G.U.N.,
Blaze is placed in the Fire area... but also has in lore ties to Crisis City as the video went over,
Planet Wisp is a giant mine on the home planet of Wisps, flying aliens made of Hyper-Go-On Energy, and Danger lies where the Hyper-Bee flies. (Charmy even where's a helmet at all times for being around dangerous mining activities) plus, Charmy's a bee and the whole idea of the stage is showcase Eggman's technological developments versus nature, Bees as endangered pollinators sort of make a good representation of that.
But also for the ones that supposedly don't make complete sense-
Tails was in Green Hill Zone because much like how Green Hill is Sonic's most iconic stage, Tails is Sonic's most iconic ally.
Cream may not have been around for Sonic Adventure but was in Sonic X, a series that retold the events of Adventure 1, 2 and Sonic Battle with a heavy Cream emphasis, and Sonic X at the time was probably the most influeinfluential piece of Sonic Extended Media
Vector is found in Rooftop Run, the Sonic World equivalent to London, as is a detective. I think I smell a fun Sherlock Holmes reference.
Although going along my line of thinking... I have no idea why the ninja's on the beach I will admit
I think Cream representing Speed Highway is because of how the Chao are important to Sonic Adventure and Cream has a Chao with her
Since we're talking about Sonic Generations I want to mention something cool I noticed with the 3DS version. Each zone from the 3DS version fits one of the Emerald's color
Green Hill for the Green Emerald
Casino Night for the Purple Emerald
Mushroom Hill for the Orange Emerald
Emerald Coast for the Blue Emerald
Radical Highway for the Red Emerald
Water Palace for the Cyan Emerald
And Tropical Resort for the White/Grey Emerald
If they would reused the 8th Emerald or add a 9th one my pick would be Toy Kingdom for the Pink Emerald and whatever 9th could fit a 9th Chaos Emerald
Ironically cream was in sonic adventure. She makes a small cameo when she flies above the city, but she disappears in an alleyway. I know because I’ve tried to chase every single time. only for her to disappear.
How I would fix the characters goes as follows:
Have it that modern Sonic is saved by completing Green Hill Act 1.
But it would be really funny having Vector being the first one saved, like:
Vector: “Thanks for saving me Sonic…” (something Vector would say very detective like)
Sonic: “Uh….no problem. What are you doing in Green Hill, if I rescued anyone else first I would have expected Tails or Amy, or even Knuckles. Like don’t get me wrong, I’m glad your safe but why are you here, in Green Hill”
Vector: “Uh thanks…but yeah I get your point. Just us two”
Sonic: “Un maybe, Oh wait is that Chemical Plant in the distance. Maybe I can find Tails there. I’M COMING BUDDY”
Vector: “Whelp looks like the Vector and Sonic Detective Duo is going to have to wait for another time.
And now we have Shadow Generations, where they picked the right characters, but put them all in the wrong order!
When I did my Sonic Generations rewrite, this is what I did.
Green Hill - N/A *Egg wreaking ball boss*
Chimerical Plant - Tails *Motobug boss*
Collision Chaos (Classic S. only) - Amy *Metal Sonic boss*
Sky Sanctuary - Knuckles *Knuckles boss*
Launch Base (Classic S. only) - Big *Death Egg Robot boss* (Kind of a reference to Big randomly showing up in Sonic Adventure 2)
Speed Highway - Omega (a reference to Sonic fighting Gamma in SA1) *Omega boss*
Blue Ridge (Modern S. only) - Cream *Chaos boss* (Chao debut in SA1, you acquire Chao in Sonic Chronicles, and Blue Ridge is near Station Square where you fight Perfect Chaos)
City Escape - Rouge *Egg Hammer Tank II boss*
Space Gadget (Modern S. only) - Shadow *Shadow boss*
Seaside Hill - Espio (Chaotix modern appearance) *Hydro Egg Robo boss*
Altitude Limit (Modern S. only) - Blaze *Blaze boss fight*
Crisis City - Silver *Iblis boss fight*
Rooftop Run - Marine *Ghost Kraken Boss* (Kind of a stretch, but like Chip, Marine is an idealistic childlike character)
Music Plant (Modern S. only) - Vector *Egg Dragoon Boss* (Vector likes music, so this level fit well)
Planet Whisp - Charmy *Egg Falcon Boss*
5:02 this render of sonic really shows his aura back then
Cream cameos in Sonic Adventure DX, so it does make sense
Why would you complain about 1 small detail?
6:29 Crisis City still existing makes less sense than Chip coming back. As does Silver still being part of the franchise as it so happens.
Big the Cat should be in Sonic Generations as one of the characters in Sonic's birthday party.
Bro.... This is what keeps it from being a 10 and not the final boss?
Amy makes sense for the area that she's in since Stardust Speedway happens to be upstairs
actually amy would be perfect for rooftop run.
Ah yes, because Knuckles in Sky Sanctuary and Espio in Seaside Hill are weird placements
All jokes aside this is a neat video
I don't see why this is such a problem. Sonic Generations is one of my most favourite video games ever made and is by far the best 2011 game with little contest.
