This video is based off TH-cam views. They started in the upper 700 million views. Watermelon sugar has 220 million. It’s not even close to having enough views to make this list. It’s about half a billion views short from the bottom of the list. That’s why most of these songs are not super recent, it takes years to get a billion+ views

And some would say these awards arent always rightly handed out or based on the public's opinions. Orezi is allowed to dislike a song, no matter how long it took or how many awards its won. If you like, it good on you, however you need to accept that not everyone will like it. As I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking your paragraph came of some what aggressive and wasnt nessecary.

I think the music videos are a HUGE aspect in why these songs sound summer-y. Our brains link the images of partying/dancing, sunshine, and water to summer, so seeing it in the music video makes that connection stick.

Something to consider in determining a good summer song: the wedding reception playlist. Besides being playable at the club and easy listening while crusing in the car, an easy dancable song with passable lyrics will get added to the wedding reception playlist in the summer, when most people will get married.
I feel like maybe "Teenage Dream" by Katy Perry was supposed to be somewhere on this list (I think that it gives off summer vibes to some extent), but I could be wrong.

A lot of summer hits have some instruments and stuff that aren't too common in our culture. Like certain kinds of drums, marimba.. Stuff like that. I guess those sounds/vibes remind us of vacation so we like to listen to that in the summer to really get that summer feeling.

2. ranking songs named on diseases or injuries or accidents or disasters etc( I'm not sure if we have got it in a number sufficient for making a video upon it)(like heart attack, Stockholm syndrome etc kinda).
3. or, you can guess a song along side a competitor by playing it on reverse and then gradually make it harder by increasing the speed on reverse by a certain percentage and every time you guess it wrong, idk put some punishment there.(I am not quite sure if it's gonna be a bit complicated to play).
4.The name place Animal thing game.( U can add categories like emotions, Time/numbers etc)
You can divide your white board in these four categories and then rank and decided which category has the best songs:-).
Like in name category-: songs named after names.( Olivia, bloody Mary,etc)

I think we can put summer songs into 2 categories.
Dance ones, you feel the beat in your heart, and you wanna dance and it emotional or it's awaking passion. I don't know if someone will get me. But these songs are just pulsing in your body.
And the second
Chill songs, songs that you will just calmly vibe to with your friends, maybe bumping your head to them but no urge to really dance. These songs are just bringing the mood of, I don't care about the past not the future cause I'm living now in this moment and I'm feeling super calm. These songs are like perfect when camping or at the beach.
That's just how I feel it 🤔

summer songs to me are 87 to 128 bpm house-type songs you'd play at the local swimming pool club for all the 50+ y.o. people in the deep end to dance to at 3-4pm, which i wouldn't say describes songs like "i want it that way" and "single ladies."
some songs i personally would add are "summer forever" by megan nicole, "all my friends" by madeon, and "hit the lights" by selena gomez and the scene.

These songs are mostly wake up and get out or early morning background songs to wake up and get your summer started even if it’s half way into summer
Before anyone says anything about Bruno Mars' lyricism, Look up his ballads like Talking to the moon or when I was your man or Too Good to say goodbye. Also consider the fact he's written for/with other artist like Adele's all I ask (Roomie's fav Adele song) aswell as for Brandy, Alicia Keys and Adam Lambert. Of course his most upbeat, fun songs get more popular but why would he write sad songs anymore when he's living life and can't relate to any of them. He's said he writes what he can relate to and he's in a happy relationship now.
