How To Change The Front Brake Pads And Rotors On A Maserati Granturismo, Ghibli and Levante

  • In this video I show you how to service the front brakes on a 2012 Maserati Granturismo S. If you own a Ghibli S/SQ4, Quattroporte S/SQ4, or Levante S/SQ4, then this video will also be helpful, because all of these models share a very similar 6 piston front brake caliper as my Granturismo.
Make sure to check the thickness of the front rotors if you plan on reusing them. The front rotors will need to be replaced if thickness is less than 30mm. Brand new rotors have a thickness of 32mm.

I haven't checked to see what the process is like on a GT (brake fluid flush), yet. The only thing that worries me is a lot of these newer cars require you to cycle the ABS pump with a scan tool in order to flush the brake fluid completely. However, I don't see the harm in using the "old" method either.

You can service your own car and keep the warranty. According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act, which is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, it's illegal for manufacturers or dealers to void your warranty or deny you coverage because you performed the work yourself.
