I don't know if it's because I played the ps4 version (where the character doesn't get into auto pilot mode in the Murphy levels), but I found the challenge competent and fair, not even close to the easiness of a Kirby game. Also, outside the main game, the invaded levels are VERY challenging, and a lot of fun.
PlatformerKid Yeah, I thought the challenge was more on the moderate side, slowly getting harder. I didn’t die as much as in Origins, but I didn’t find Legends so easy as to bore me. I played Xbox 360, by the way.
@@CoolNobleKnight Believe me, when you try to get all 3 Teensies (yes, even the jester) on Quick Sand Invaded, come back to me when you need a therapist. 8-Bit Gloo Gloo made me cry of rage when I died very close to the end just because of one of the bomb's fireballs hitting me just because I jumped too high. The Dark Rayman levels were fucking painful, especially the first Olympus Maximus Invaded. 8-Bit Grannies World Tour is really trippy, and you really need to follow the beat to finish it after all the visual effects and distortions
Not sure how many you did personally, but I recommend everyone try and beat all the invaded levels. Some of them are incredibly difficult, and the feeling from beating them is immensely rewarding.
I wish I had the time to get through all of the invasion levels as well treasure challenges in Origins. Sadly I have a regular job that gets in the way...
It wasn't that hard but that one challenge level where you race to the finish while being chased by your evil clone really made me mad. I think it was the last one so of course it would be difficult.
Up there with Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze as one of the best platformers of the decade. Also I'm not certain that the game was as easy as the video makes it out to be. The time trials and dark rayman stages gave me a lot of difficulty, even if the game as a whole isn't very difficult.
I disagree with your commentary about the difficulty. Sure, if you are only aiming for completing the game in terms of going through the levels, then you will not have a very hard time. However, if you want to make a perfect run for each level, you will be putting in those hours to do so. I had to put in a couple of hours just to perfect a single level a couple of times because of how much precision was needed to grab everything. The game is a master class in level design on how to make accessible levels while giving people who want to master the game the opportunity to get rewarded for perfectly timed platforming to grab every collectible. That is also the game's greatest strength. It encourages you to become a better player through smart placement of items to encourage better platforming, while allowing less experienced players to learn the game at their own pace without having to hit a brick wall from massive difficulty spikes. The game can be easy or hard depending on what goals you set for yourself and that to me is a sign of a great platformer. Also, the issue with bringing up the difficulty from something like Rayman 1 is that that game is unreasonably difficult. It may be a fun game, but it has some pretty ridiculous difficulty spikes that would be considered bad game design by today's standards. Makes it hard to recommend to more than the most hardcore platformer fans unlike similar games from the 90's like the Donkey Kong Country series that have aged remarkably well.
YES! I got this game when I was six and I found it VERY difficult then. Now, I'm replaying it for the 20th time or something near that and am 100% it again, and 100% it is MUCH harder than just finishing it. So it was hard for me when i was six and it's hard for me now.
Do you play Donke Kong Tropical Freeze? Every level is masterfully design with a different mechanic each one, instead of Rayman Legends which repeats mechanics in a world (is not something bad but is inferior than Tropical Freeze design)
@@cherrytheoryroyale4090 do you play DK Tropical Freeze? Each level has one or more different mechanics instead of Rayman Legends which repeats its mechanics in each world
@@bloodborneguy4697bro shut UP i dont care i played it too its good but not as good RAYMAN its good k we get it!!ok ok sorry for being so toxic but im just mad
Easy difficulty isn't really a sign of bad level design. Play new super Mario Bros 2 if you want to see some poor level design. Rayman legends is definitely lacking in the difficulty department though.
Hmm, Jelly, I wouldn't think he called it bad level design. I think he implied that the level design wasn't the best it could be to present the challenge one would expect in a platformer, especially as a sequel to Origins. I could be wrong, though.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 didn't have poor level-design, though. It just lacked innovation and imagination. If you want to see some REAL poor level-design, look no further than the blandness of Sonic Blast's stages or the rage-inducing levels of Megaman X6.
Man i love Legends, but you are right the difficult is a joke. I found that "yeah" feeling in the invaded levels, and daily challenges; specially the online challenges getting the Diamond cup was the best.
Rayman fan The difficulty may be easier than Origins, but you can't deny that they didn't do it right. I in fact just got two of my cousins into playing the game and they really liked it!
Aleksi Taunimaa not really, the second and third world are as easy as the first one. The most difficult world had medium difficult. Origins had 6 worlds and a last level that tested your skills. Legends has 5 worlds and the "sixth" world only has musical levels that we already played with not a lot of changes. Legends really needed another world with bigger difficult and a last awesome level with extreme difficult. Legends ending was even more anticlimatic than origins, with the delaying i thought they will fix origins mistakes, but sadly no. Instead of remaking origins, they should had made a new world plus a better ending.
Honestly the interesting part of this game is the challenges, trying to improve your level with all secret techniques Sadly the community is really small
Rayman fan Eh, I prefer my games to be on the easier side, I found plenty of frustration and satisfaction in those invasion levels, but even if it is satisfying to beat a hard level, it doesn't compare to how much I wanted to destroy my Switch whenever I kept dying in a stage. Also, kind of suprised there was no single mention of any level from Living Dead Party, the 8-Bit levels were a very creative idea and the game should get merit for that.
Origins is still my favorite of the two. Even if it is more accessible, I found origins much more compelling. Origins never wanted you to stop moving, and the level design complemented that. The fact that you had to masterfully collect as many lums as you could to complete each world, and the king lum being there to reward skillful gameplay, was much more entertaining than the purple lums, and the fact that I would often 100% a world with little effort.
This game is one of the best games I ever played. Bar none. It and a few other games were the only fun i had on a PS Vita because that console was garbage and hardly had any exclusives and was mostly filled with boring Japanese novel games lmao.
MetalSonic1993 I had this on Vita too. My favourite game :D Vita did have some great exclusives although minimal (e.g. Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Uncharted: Golden Abyss)
That the truth sadly. The great games of the Vita have been ported or forgotten... Sony killed that beautiful machine. I'm waiting for Henkaku to release on 3.65 in the end of this year to hack my Vita and access the whole Vita, PSP and tons of emulators catalog c:
I didn't play Origins that much, but i have legends on my PS3 and it is a masterpiece. Art, gameplay, levels and music are so creative and fucking great. And idea of music levels amazes me to this day still. One of my favorite games.
Just started playing this on PS4 and I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. It’s available for free on PS Plus and I didn’t want to pass the opportunity to get it, good thing I didn’t. There are a few differences between the PS4 and Wii U versions; levels utilizing the touchscreen for Murphy in the Wii U version have his actions performed with the circle button on PS4, and you remain in control of your currently selected character rather than guiding a CPU-controlled Globox. Rotating platforms is done by holding the L1 and R1 buttons instead of tilting the controller. Additionally, both the PS4 and Xbox One version’s have non-existent loading times when entering levels due to their larger storage medium and superior hardware to the Wii U, and all art assets are uncompressed. On PS4, the touchpad is used to scratch off lucky tickets and the sounds goes through the controller’s speaker. Awesome review, as usual. I have a couple of ideas for future reviews; some are “How Bad is Without Warning?” “Is Full Auto underrated?” “Is Pac-Man World still good?” When I asked if you took donations I wanted to donate Without Warning to you; thankfully the game is really cheap on Ebay, to the point where you can find a brand new copy of the Xbox version for less than $10. Just a thought.
Hey boss. Just came across your twitter post on REDDIT. The complete OG xbox game collection. Needless to say I am most impressed. 800+ games in such a short period of time. Mind boggling. OG xbox is the only gen of vgames of all time that I miseed out on along with PS1 and ps2 cuz I was working out of province for years and doing way too much partying. I'd love to see a vid showing off every single game by just glancing over the game cases. That would be top of the line. Your previous videos look damn good and just watched your 3DO vid. Well fkn Done! New subscriber 4 life. Great job my friend
My favourite think in this game was how they mixed perfectly the Underwater motiff with the Steampunk Motiff, having us travel through an elegant submarine.
2:09 The cartwheel attack was in Origins So when you are in the air, hold down on the L Stick and your character would do a dive. You can cancel it by just attacking or you stop holding it down. So when you land on the ground while diving, you would just do a landing roll. Throughout the time you touched the ground and when you are in the roll/slide, you can just press the attack button and he does this funky attack and you can cancel it with a jump so what basically saying is that every move can be cancelled except the diving crush attack that creates a shockwave.
a game isnt insanely hard it instantly becomes a bad game > > i like both origins and legends but legends is the superior game no matter how you look at it it just controls way better and its more fun to play through
While I love Legends, Origins has much more legitimate story content. The majority of play time in that game was from more actual stages, which threaded together an actually existing story with a real finale. When I beat Legends, I was SHOCKED that the game just ended like that. WHAT? Maybe they could've had the song the aliens were playing on the Dark Teensies wake up a beast which the gang would have to stop. ANYTHING. Also, Origins has that Land of the Dead theme, which is insane, and better level themes and concepts. Not to diss Legends entirely- the presentation blows Origins out of the water, and 20,000 Lums is my favorite world in any platformer, with Mansion of the Deep being one of my favorite levels in any 2D game. Fight me.
In the days of big budget games like God of war, the witcher and horizon...... Rayman legends absolutely shits all over any game when it comes to the fun factor. This is a masterclass on how to make a game!
Origins and Legends are terrific and Ubisoft deserves mad props for releasing AAA 2D platformers well after the genre's expiration date. Creative and unique and both deserved far more sales than they received.
I remember when I first played a demo of Rayman Legends on a Wii U in an old GameStop that I knew right away I want to get this game. it was supposed to come out in March of 2013 on the Wii U but because of how poorly the Wii U sold Ubisoft delayed the release of the game by developing multiple ports of it and I had to wait until what was it like in September of 2013 to get the game I think it was. I didn't want to have to wait that long to play the game. LOL! I had so much fun with this game and from my experience I think it probably was the best side-scroller ever made
I didn't get mine until 2015. I got a PS4 last of us bundle and it came with a $10 gift card for PSN. Rayman Legends was on sale at the time, so I bought it. Even though I really wanted a disc of it since I had Rayman Origins on disc for PS3.
18:37 I’m convinced you had the music off, because WHAT!?!? I’ve been humming every tune in this game since I got it like a month ago!! Also, the Lum King song is really catchy, but I can see how it may get repetitive listening to it over and over There’s something that makes me like Origins more, and I don’t know what it is. I think it may be that the worlds are much brighter in Origins, and it had more of a story (not much more though) it’s a close call, I agree with both sides of the argument
There is the main game which is extremely easy as you said, but if you were to collect everything it gets harder and harder as you need more precise platforming and jumps. Then there are the invasion levels, which are hard but not painful. Then there is the dark rayman levels, very hard.
I've played this whole game with 3 friends co-op and it was an absolute blast from start to finish. Especially the football mini-game and the 8-bit music levels!
Not hating or anything, but just wanted to point out that you forgot to talk about the movement system. You dont just run and jump like a simple platformer, you can do rolls, roll jumps and boost breaks. These mechanics explain why the first few paintings are easier than the others, is designed to let you play around with the movement.
i finally beat this game.. this game is phenomenal to me.. i would say this is better than origins.. it improved a lot.. i would characterize it as having a rewarding level of difficulty.. in this review it was mentioned that rayman got hearts on the wii u game screen and also during loading.. neither of those things exist on ps4.. but anyway yeah this game is amazing.. i got it 2 or 3 yrs ago and never got into it, but recently my internet kept going out and each time it did- this was my go to.... i liked this more than origins... the game is very long.. has a ton of stuff in it.. a ton of variety, great graphics and sound.. i also appreciated not having to hear that chipmunk mariachi song 10,000 times like in origins.. also there is a ton of situational animation in this game and it made the game feel alive.. i actually lol'ed at some it.. the level design in this game is incredible and i feel that is the star of the show.. i think i would give it a 10.. i can't do a 9.5 because the inclusion of the origins levels (except this time w/o the loading) was very generous imo... the type of extra that merits a 10.. i hadn't played origins in years so it was nice going back
If Rayman was in smash, I want his d-tilt to be his sweep kick and his down smash attack to be his new crouching attack, where he punches the ground in place. I also want him to be able to run around the stage without falling off but still be able to run off the stage or ledge trump.
Why’s everyone saying that the game is too easy, Sure it’s not as hard as other rayman games, but it was still fairly hard for me, especially in the final boss which took me about an hour to finally beat. Either I’m trash, or everyone’s really good, cause it pissed me off
I have played countless 2D and 2.5D platform games over the past 33 years. You could even say I am an enthusiast of the genre. All of those games have had variable levels of fun factor, challenge, overall polish and many other factors. Rayman Legends IS one of the finest video games ever made, let alone one of the greatest 2D/2.5D Platformers ever made. It ticks every box in my view, for what a game should provide for the player. I love when you can feel the care and pure polish put into a game. This ensures a complete experience for the player. And honestly, the tipping point for any video game is how much bloody fun it is to play. The level of challenge, or lack there of, does not sour this game. Along with Origins, Shovel Knight and perhaps a select few others, Legends IS Legendary within this decade of games. Games like this magnify what made the 8 and 16 bit 2D Platformers of our youth so memorable.
Haha, it's the only Tetris footage I had recorded and available. I was going to fire up the NES but decided to just use that instead. It's an obscure easter egg for those hardcore enough to know what it is :D
think the graphics were better in origins.. i couldn't put my finger on it but over time i realized the reason is because legends oftentimes has a color palette.. like a green level is mostly green, an orange level is mostly orange, etc... while origins had more of a "pop" because there was more of a contrast in colors.. one way for me to put it is while origins looks like a painting, legends kinda looks like smudged painting
Rayman Legends is my favorite game of this generation. It is timeless and deserves a 10/10 score easily. 20 years from now this game will still be fun and amazing.
i prefer the Ori games but as a linear campaign 2d platformer rayman legends is the best. if we just look at movement and game feel i pick Ori, but it's a bit different genre within 2d platforming
You got to keep in mind that most of the game's challenge is left in the returning Origins stages, and considering most people didn't play Origins, it's only a good thing imo
I feel that missed on this one. Rayman Legends shines in the subtleties of speedrunning, once you start to control rayman in that way you realize how carefully crafted the levels really are, for example there is an entire range of movement mechanics I never saw you use once in your review. I think the developers made a game that was easy enough to appeal to casual players and younger audiences, the game you played, as well as a game for veterans who will really explore how a character moves and interacts with the environment. And while it may be fair criticism that the casual experience doesn't get hard enough before the credits I think the developers do a lot to open up this second half of the game to you by introducing timed modes and especially daily challenges where you quickly realize that you haven't been playing the same game. The whole game has been building an emphasis on speed and flow and its up to you to challenge yourself.
This is the best game ever made. Despite the Wii U version being the my least favorite version this game it is still a pure masterpiece. Down to the graphics soundtrack and game play there is no flaws to be seen what so ever.
Only played legends so maybe I'm just a dumb newbie but I found this game to be pretty ball biting when going for those gold trophies. On a casual playthrough I can see these levels being piss easy but trying for all the lums and teensies definitely put me to the test. Probably helps that I played on PS4 so the murfy stages had my focus split on the player and murfy at the expense of murfy himself being on autopilot outside of the circle button Gotta agree on the end boss being a wet fart though
I hate to be that guy but it's pronounced cav-e-auts not ca-veets. Regardless this game is amazing and is definitely one of my favorites. Good to see it getting some love.
This is why Rayman is a Legend and why he deserves to be popular than Mario, Sonic, etc.😃😃 Rayman and Barbara will always be my favorite characters in this 2.5D platformer. Even though I own a Nintendo Switch, I already own Rayman Legends on the Wii U and I know that the Definitive Edition is out there. I hope we get Rayman IV or a 3D sequel to Rayman Legends with the new characters from Rayman Legends like Barbara and her other princess friends and I want male versions of the Rayman Legends Princesses to be introduced too😉😉 I hope Michel Ancel's interest in making Rayman 4/3D sequel to Rayman Legends comes true and gets released on all consoles especially the Nintendo Switch because Nintendo and Ubisoft have a relationship with each other since Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was released
implantgames I think it has something to do with how she looks, how she acts as a firce warrior princess and not an ordinary damsel in distress like Peach from the Mario Series, how she is voiced by the same person who voices Rayman as well, and how Rayman and Barbara make a cute couple.
implantgames The only thing you left out is that in Rayman Legends, Barbara the Barbarian Princess debuted in the Rayman series joins Rayman's alliance and is possibly Rayman's newest love interest
Okay. I played this game a while ago and I know this video's pretty old as well, but after watching it, can we talk about how both this game and the prequel basically perfected a modern Sonic game? At least in my eyes it did. Just the flow and momentum structure of these games are what I feel modern Sonic games are kind of missing, whether 2D or 3D. There's wall-running and wall-jumping in this game that isn't just more or less an automated event or just press X/Square to win. Every obstacle flows into one another and allows for newcomers to plan out routes effectively in safe zones, while experienced players can blast through without ever letting go of the run button while pulling off precise and well-timed moves. I think this type of game-style is what a modern sonic game desperately NEEDS right now, and this game did in freakin' 2013. It's a game-style that doesn't rest on the laurels of Sonic's 2D glory days too much, constantly pandering to people who just refuse to let that type of Sonic go thus stifling any sort of innovation, but also doesn't sacrifice smooth, momentum based platforming for pure speed and level memorization like the modern 3D games. And the difficulty is just perfect. It's the endgame is where it's at. I did everything in this game because it was so rewarding and challenged me to perfect the momentum style through a level. Sonic Mania is cool, but if you ask me, this game is where modern 2D Sonic games should be at by this point.
I agree with others that the invasion levels make up a lot for the main campaigns lack of difficulty. Especially the dark rayman levels. That being said, I'd still say that it's easier overall than Origins. I even noticed that in the Origins stages remade for Legends, many of the harder ones had some obstacles removed to make them easier. I'd also vouch for the non Wii U Murphy levels as well. While you don't have quite the same puzzle element present in the auto controlled version, it's replaced with an enjoyable type of gameplay where you have to multitask by doing the normal platorming action, while at the same time focusing on controlling the new mechanic that each of these levels brings. It's a great way to do unique gameplay scenarios without totally changing the controls. The last chase level in Olympus in particular is an amazing example. You have to handle doing precision platforming and wall jumping all the while controlling Murphy to get obstacles and platforms into the right place. It's an amazing sense of flow.
I love this and the Origins games. i could have gotten them on the 360 or PS3 but something about the way the wiiu game pad makes it the best version to really play. It has its flaws but those can be overlooked due to the sheer beauty and grace this game has. Great video Kris... as always.
The only reason I played the Wii U version is because it was the first version I found in the Wild :) I really dig the gamepad stuff as noted, but it will be interesting to try a non-touch version at some point in the future. Glad you enjoyed the video!
i found this game pretty difficult, especially when i went for the collectibles! it wasn't *frustratingly* difficult, but it certainly wasn't easy! to me, anyway. maybe i'm just not very good at this game xD
For me it was really the open layout of what level to play that really made the difficulty just all over the place. Instead of Origins' tight progression of levels and then the expanded worlds after you get halfway through, Legends letting you pick whatever means the difficulty curve isn't a curve so much as it is a scribble.
Great review, one thing I will add as a gamer who likes a challenge but also enjoys playing with casuals... this game being a little bit easier makes (the basic levels at least) the game a lot of fun to play with my friends. Too hard of a challenge would irritate them so I personally like that this game is a little easier .... however those invaded levels are strictly for my own enjoyment 😁🎉 Great review my friend! Really enjoyed it!
I wouldn't really say Legends is easy. I get my challenge appetite sated by the invaded levels, some of which are harder than any of the tricky chests in Origins, and the online challenges.
Great video! I have this for the Wii U and found it super cheap for the PS4 and have both. I see now I wish I played the Wii U one first. The PS4 one doesn't use any touch screen on the Murphy levels. You press the "O" button to make him switch things on/off and in the cake part, me moves and you have to time hitting the button as he flies in a circle. This game is worth playing again though. Yeah, almost forgot about that chicken part as it seemed rather early in the game. The music parts really brought a smile to my face that was hard to turn off for a while. Especially "Gloo Gloo" when I it became evident what it was a spoof of. The levels were a lot easier and the hidden guys were always hidden in the same way. Trophies on the PS4 are a nice, but to Platinum it, you have to compete online to up Awesomeness rank. Unfortunately it rewards the top 2% or so of skilled players the ability to do this in a minimum of 20 days or so, others 30days - 2,000 of grinding. NOT so Awesome....
Wait, on the wii u version you don't have control over your character in murphy levels? That's weird. The part where you're chased by dragons in olympus maximus was one of the hardest moments in game. And yeah, you didn't bother to experience the hardest world once again, while it's pretty unique.
It's a button press and the action is more set. In the Switch port it's the same. So say in the Wii U you need to draw you can draw anywhere in the area that the drawing makes the green platforms. In the other versions once near the drawing area the button press fills in a set bit of the blank part with a platform to use. So the game does the work as you play making it a harder game because now in the middle of you platforming you need to time button presses when the area is possible to be used. Meaning a lot of tight platforming in those is now you jumping and rolling while hitting the button in the few moments before you die.
I feel a persons experience with the "Murphy" levels in this game can differ with what console you play on, while the Wii u version has you using the Wii u game pad in creative ways and trying to get collectables to the AI, the ps4,Xbox, etc you just click b or circle to have Murphy do something and the challenge i guess is to find out how to get to the collectable your self
I've noticed younger audiences at work seem to struggle with this game more than Rayman Origins. On the PS4/XB1 version of Rayman Legends, players have full control over their character at all times, including the Murphy sections. While Murphy is simplified to a context button press (PS4: Circle / XB1: B vs. Wii U Gamepad touchscreen), inexperienced players struggle to juggle both Murphy and platforming at the same time. I don't think these sections were developed with easy platforming in mind either due to the computer originally controlling the player's character in these sections of the Wii U version. One last side note: While players can jump in at any time for a co-op experience for all versions, there doesn't appear to be a way for players to actually drop out on the PS4 version. While the select button works fine on the XB1 version, the trackpad on the PS4 acts as a rather useless camera "zoom in/out". I think this is an oversight due to the lack of a "Select" button on the PS4 controller.
Yes this game is pure awesomeness. 1 of the best 2d platformers out there. Will u do someday a review of the Jumpingflash series on the ps1? Those are 3 real rare gems (part3 Japan only).
I first played the whole game on a Switch and I found the Murfy levels pretty annoying since I got confused by having to control him with only one button to press (while also having to wait for him to move towards the obstacle I wanted him to interact with) and silmutaneuously controlling my character. It was of course totally doable but I didn't really like it all that much, especially in levels where I had to rush.
I'm surprised, I thought you were gonna end up liking Legends more than Origins. Glad you still enjoyed it though! I played it on the Xbox One, not the Wii U, so seeing the difference in Murphy's gameplay was pretty interesting. On other consoles, Murphy will show up sometime during the level. You'll play as the same character you were using before (Sir Globrax - the character that shows up in the Murphy sections on Wii U - shows up in other versions as one of the unlockable characters), but Murphy will fly to the nearest object you can interact with, and you have to press a certain button (B on Xbox One) to get him to interact with the object. I can't say for sure whether or not that makes Murphy gameplay better than on the Wii U version, but thought it was worth mentioning. I think Legends would still be my favorite Rayman game, though Origins is fantastic, too, and I can understand why you like it better. I even have a soft spot for the first game (though I never owned the PS1 version; I owned the GBA version, which was made to be easier, and the mobile version, which has a mode with unlimited lives). I can't wait to play the 3D games.
They are both pretty great games and the developers should be proud for the exceptional quality of the series from 1995-2013. It's rare for a games to span 18 years without fumbling, like Sonic ;)
If the lukewarm level design of this game has put you in the mood for a harder platformer, I'd recommend you try out Distorted Travesty 3. It's filled with love for 90s games so it'll suit your style, and it's got the best level design I've ever encountered in a platformer. Definitely a game that will quickly put you to the test and never stop pushing you to your limits.
While Legends is overall easier than Origins, I feel like you're harping on the difficulty a bit too much. It's not super easy, and while it's pretty easy to just beat the game at minimum requirements all the bonus levels especially if you're going for all the trophies and Teensies can get pretty difficult. Maybe not as difficult as, say Land of the Livid Dead from Origins, but certainly not easy. Rayman 2's definitely easier...
Definitely, but getting to the Land of the Livid Dead after getting all 10 Skull teeth and beating the level+boss is one of my most memorable moments in video games. The difficulty made it so gratifying, that even though it's been 7 years since I got the game in 2012, the gratification and sheer joy of beating the difficult levels (that also have amazing graphics and music) makes it unforgettable. The teenies are basically electoons, which I support because it gives a skill curve for completionists and those who just want to run through the game. The bosses in Rayman Legends are definitely worse than the bosses of Rayman Origins. They're bosses because they're difficult, and the ease in which I beat them makes them lackluster than say, beating the bosses of Rayman Origins.
Have you ever thought of reviewing the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger trilogy? The first two games are pretty good, but the third entry was a bit of a mixed bag.
Nice review, though it's like my favorite game. The scratch-offs were brilliant, and I can't think of a better reward than remastered levels from the last game.
Wow you are a noob Who says legends is hard
@@CoolNobleKnight Believe me, when you try to get all 3 Teensies (yes, even the jester) on Quick Sand Invaded, come back to me when you need a therapist. 8-Bit Gloo Gloo made me cry of rage when I died very close to the end just because of one of the bomb's fireballs hitting me just because I jumped too high. The Dark Rayman levels were fucking painful, especially the first Olympus Maximus Invaded. 8-Bit Grannies World Tour is really trippy, and you really need to follow the beat to finish it after all the visual effects and distortions
Raidz -_- I have 100% the game all gold and all collected all the teensies. But I can see what you mean because that level is kinda hard
Doing every level 100% first try is HELL but hey it's fun
Not sure how many you did personally, but I recommend everyone try and beat all the invaded levels. Some of them are incredibly difficult, and the feeling from beating them is immensely rewarding.
I wish I had the time to get through all of the invasion levels as well treasure challenges in Origins. Sadly I have a regular job that gets in the way...
implantgames That's a shame. I feel that a lot of the missing challenge was allocated to the optional stuff, which I did as I played through.
TheChimchan i don’t even try them-
Took my 35 hours to complete everything and that's allowing myself to miss 10 max teensies per world lol
I needed 1 hour to make one under 40 seconds. Than I watch (on the Vita) the top 10 and everyone did it under 1 second. Fuck cheaters
I nearly went insane while getting all teensies
Welcome to the club
They aren’t that hard
@@raid-ical my most hard one was on the remade water level from "back to origins"
It wasn't that hard but that one challenge level where you race to the finish while being chased by your evil clone really made me mad. I think it was the last one so of course it would be difficult.
I had to beat the previous times to get the teensie and I had to be frame perfect
Up there with Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze as one of the best platformers of the decade. Also I'm not certain that the game was as easy as the video makes it out to be. The time trials and dark rayman stages gave me a lot of difficulty, even if the game as a whole isn't very difficult.
Right on.
I personally think tropical freeze is way more fun. I prefer the old rayman games
That transition at 19:02 was freakin' beautiful
It almost works doesn't it. I'll have to remember to try a long wipe on matching scrolling in the future.
My man did a starwars wipe scroll
Masterpiece bro. 😘
Frozen Death Knight nice
Frozen Death Knight you so right
So what? Origins also had these moments and yet the levels are still harder and more fun
YES!
I got this game when I was six and I found it VERY difficult then. Now, I'm replaying it for the 20th time or something near that and am 100% it again, and 100% it is MUCH harder than just finishing it. So it was hard for me when i was six and it's hard for me now.
Still the best 2D platformer of the decade with Origins
Have you played tropical freeze?
Tropical freeze is good but note that Rayman legends feel completely original and its mechanics are better with the character design.
JellyJiggler New Smb2 actually didn’t have horribe level design. I mean yeah, it sorta does but I’ve seen wose.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 didn't have poor level-design, though. It just lacked innovation and imagination.
If you want to see some REAL poor level-design, look no further than the blandness of Sonic Blast's stages or the rage-inducing levels of Megaman X6.
That is one of the few mario games I have yet to beat.
Try beating all the invaded getting all of the extras
Honestly the interesting part of this game is the challenges, trying to improve your level with all secret techniques
Sadly the community is really small
Rayman fan Eh, I prefer my games to be on the easier side, I found plenty of frustration and satisfaction in those invasion levels, but even if it is satisfying to beat a hard level, it doesn't compare to how much I wanted to destroy my Switch whenever I kept dying in a stage. Also, kind of suprised there was no single mention of any level from Living Dead Party, the 8-Bit levels were a very creative idea and the game should get merit for that.
You have to remember it is partly a kids game
caveets
Cayeet
cavuuts
Between "caveets" and going back and forth between teensies and elections, this is an interesting one.
Yeah agreed , I absolutely hate the pacing in legends, that why I only played the main game once and then quit.
2:08 lol he already had a cartwheel attack in rayman origins. I accidentally discovered it while goofing around in the credits
rayman legends and rayman origins is my favorite 2-D platfrmer with sonic mania
Right on!
I LOVE this game! I always thought it was underrated, but I didn't know it got such good reviews!
This game is one of the best games I ever played. Bar none. It and a few other games were the only fun i had on a PS Vita because that console was garbage and hardly had any exclusives and was mostly filled with boring Japanese novel games lmao.
Watchesyousleep oh burn
Watchesyousleep lmao what does that have to do with my comment?
MetalSonic1993 I had this on Vita too. My favourite game :D
Vita did have some great exclusives although minimal (e.g. Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Uncharted: Golden Abyss)
Yaw - Tube but most of them have been ported at this point.
1:13 'kahveets'
Just a thought.
one of my favorite content creators! the way you go in depth about every game is amazing!
Thanks man, glad you enjoy them!
Hey man thanks for making the journey all the way to the channel haha :) The next video will show the collection in a round-about way. Stay tuned!
My favourite think in this game was how they mixed perfectly the Underwater motiff with the Steampunk Motiff, having us travel through an elegant submarine.
2:09
The cartwheel attack was in Origins
So when you are in the air, hold down on the L Stick and your character would do a dive. You can cancel it by just attacking or you stop holding it down. So when you land on the ground while diving, you would just do a landing roll. Throughout the time you touched the ground and when you are in the roll/slide, you can just press the attack button and he does this funky attack and you can cancel it with a jump so what basically saying is that every move can be cancelled except the diving crush attack that creates a shockwave.
a game isnt insanely hard
it instantly becomes a bad game
> >
i like both origins and legends but
legends is the superior game no matter how you look at it
it just controls way better and its more fun to play through
I declared this a great game.
This game is ridiculously easy tho
thegalen2 still is a good game but it is just too easy
thegalen2 i got bored of this game after a while i didnt get the rush in this game like i did in origins. I prefer origins over legends by a long shot
Fight me.
This game is honestly a better platformer than most Mario and Kirby games which says a lot
I love your content. Also a bit of a heads up, the word where you read reviews is pronounced "cav-e-ot".
Pinned.
As soon as I heard it I was like "Crap, this is going to dominate the comments"
Andrew Oliver Lol yeah same
Cav-ee-at in British English
I'm always so pumped when your videos come out!
Also, perfect that this is free with psn plus atm.
Glad to hear it, thank you!
18:37 I’m convinced you had the music off, because WHAT!?!? I’ve been humming every tune in this game since I got it like a month ago!! Also, the Lum King song is really catchy, but I can see how it may get repetitive listening to it over and over
There’s something that makes me like Origins more, and I don’t know what it is. I think it may be that the worlds are much brighter in Origins, and it had more of a story (not much more though) it’s a close call, I agree with both sides of the argument
19:04 really smooth transition. I like it.
Have you even attempted the invaded levels? There's plenty of difficulty to be had. *Infiltration Station intensifies*
Yes, the infiltration station was last invaded level, that I did with my sister on 3 Teensies. IT was REALLY hard. Now, we have all Teensies
The game is easy to finish, hard to complete. The quality of a game isn't based on difficulty you know.
There is the main game which is extremely easy as you said, but if you were to collect everything it gets harder and harder as you need more precise platforming and jumps. Then there are the invasion levels, which are hard but not painful. Then there is the dark rayman levels, very hard.
23:04 So difficulty=quality?! Nah...
I've played this whole game with 3 friends co-op and it was an absolute blast from start to finish. Especially the football mini-game and the 8-bit music levels!
I wish I could have tried some multiplayer!
14:32
I like how you used the term "Winnie-The-Poohed"!
This game is similar in certain ways to Ori and the Blind Forest. Highly recommend a review of Ori.
1:13 K A V E E T S
Stopped there lmao.
19:01 not sure if this was intentional, but that transition was SEAMLESS.
Rayman Legends literally is the best platformers ever made. Love it to death. I want another Rayman like yesteryear.
14:32 currently adding “Winnie-the-Poohed” to my vocabulary.
Same Here!
Rayman Legends IS legendary, and I'm not ashamed to say it, bruh.
4:34
Oooh! That's a version of Tetris you don't see often!
Cloud Air I liked Origins’ graphics better. Had a clean cartoon style to it.
Same.
Fun fact in the music level for the water world at the end of it you are transported to the water area from origins
Rayman Legends is my favorite game of this generation. It is timeless and deserves a 10/10 score easily. 20 years from now this game will still be fun and amazing.
Best platformers ever bro.
20:27 I realized that there are fewer killable enemies as the game progresses, which I find strange.
i prefer the Ori games but as a linear campaign 2d platformer rayman legends is the best. if we just look at movement and game feel i pick Ori, but it's a bit different genre within 2d platforming
Probably helps that I played on PS4 so the murfy stages had my focus split on the player and murfy at the expense of murfy himself being on autopilot outside of the circle button
Gotta agree on the end boss being a wet fart though
honestly one of the best games ive ever played
I hate to be that guy but it's pronounced cav-e-auts not ca-veets. Regardless this game is amazing and is definitely one of my favorites. Good to see it getting some love.
Nutz4Gunz45 what guy?
"That guy" is an expression haha :)
Love to see someone still play this game :D
Based on the daily challenges, I'd say a lot of people still play this game!
implantgames okie thx for replying
implantgames also can you make a half life review
I think I have this burned for the Dreamcast somewhere... no promises though.
implantgames kk
Why didnt you mention the Land of the Livid Dead in Rayman Origins?
This is why Rayman is a Legend and why he deserves to be popular than Mario, Sonic, etc.😃😃
Rayman and Barbara will always be my favorite characters in this 2.5D platformer. Even though I own a Nintendo Switch, I already own Rayman Legends on the Wii U and I know that the Definitive Edition is out there. I hope we get Rayman IV or a 3D sequel to Rayman Legends with the new characters from Rayman Legends like Barbara and her other princess friends and I want male versions of the Rayman Legends Princesses to be introduced too😉😉
I hope Michel Ancel's interest in making Rayman 4/3D sequel to Rayman Legends comes true and gets released on all consoles especially the Nintendo Switch because Nintendo and Ubisoft have a relationship with each other since Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was released
Did I miss something in this one, I see a lot of love for Barbara and I'm not really certain why?
implantgames I think it has something to do with how she looks, how she acts as a firce warrior princess and not an ordinary damsel in distress like Peach from the Mario Series, how she is voiced by the same person who voices Rayman as well, and how Rayman and Barbara make a cute couple.
implantgames The only thing you left out is that in Rayman Legends, Barbara the Barbarian Princess debuted in the Rayman series joins Rayman's alliance and is possibly Rayman's newest love interest
Playstation 5247 Hello... there... I Guess...
Is legends the last rayman game?
Everytime I see a small bit of Rayman 1 I am amazed on how amazing it still looks even compared with the more recent Rayman releases.
I had alot of trouble with the levels i can't believe you thought that it was easy
Too hard of a challenge would irritate them so I personally like that this game is a little easier .... however those invaded levels are strictly for my own enjoyment 😁🎉
Great review my friend! Really enjoyed it!
I wouldn't really say Legends is easy. I get my challenge appetite sated by the invaded levels, some of which are harder than any of the tricky chests in Origins, and the online challenges.
Oh wow it's been five years already
It feels like only yesterday I got Rayman Legends for my WiiU for my birthday
I was kind of shocked to realize I've been a Wii U owner for five years already :) Sounds like you had a pretty rad birthday!
I like how he randomly switches between saying Teensies and Electoons
I was not aware of the music levels before diving in so hearing Black Betty for the first time was amazing :D Glad you enjoyed to the video!
Pro-tip. After watching this video, get this game. It is one of my favorite 2D platformers, and I've been playing them since the original NES!
I played it on the PS4, where you have to control both Murphy and your character. Is that harder or easier than just controlling Murphy?
I still like rayman even after all those years and will gladly play origins and legends again
Wait, on the wii u version you don't have control over your character in murphy levels? That's weird. The part where you're chased by dragons in olympus maximus was one of the hardest moments in game. And yeah, you didn't bother to experience the hardest world once again, while it's pretty unique.
When H**l breaks loose is what the level is called therefore Muffy is an angel for a pupose.
I wouldn’t want it to be any harder. It’s been months and I’ve only finished like three of four paintings. And I’m on two player with my friends!
How do you do the touchpad levels on another console like Xbox? Do you just use the stick?
I'm surprised Jumping Flash is as requested as it is. I do have a pile of PS1 games I've been wanting to play starting with Croc.
implantgames nice, i will (and i think many others) looking forward to it. I've got croc too but the controls/camera... Not really my cup of tea.
There's a fourth game-a spinoff-on the PocketStation, as well!
I love this game so much
Yes that's cool and all but HOW DO I PLAY THIS GAME ONLINE WITH FRIENDS
I first played the whole game on a Switch and I found the Murfy levels pretty annoying since I got confused by having to control him with only one button to press (while also having to wait for him to move towards the obstacle I wanted him to interact with) and silmutaneuously controlling my character. It was of course totally doable but I didn't really like it all that much, especially in levels where I had to rush.
Wow, just watched the origins video and then this releases in a matter of minutes. Love your stuff!
Thanks, glad to hear it!
Just a heads up its only $17AUDish on the Australian switch store atm..
One of these days I need to finally finish N+...
(i know that your talking about the aladdin game, so i just let ya know) what aladdin? the disney film? the Game? Or the Book?
The one shown on screen as I'm saying Aladdin :)
i knew that lol. Wait
*IMPLANT GAMES REPLIED TO ME!!!*
Yes haha ;)
Poor magician teensies makes me sad that they are tortured by the aliens
Rayman is my favorite game. I still play it.... even in 2018
How would fans improve upon this design & be given back the true magic of Rayman?
Have you ever thought of reviewing the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger trilogy? The first two games are pretty good, but the third entry was a bit of a mixed bag.
Yeah there are a few Xbox games I'd like to revisit. Ty, Oddworld, SpongeBob, etc
*cough cough* damn you brother....for making me play this game every two hours.
Nice review, though it's like my favorite game. The scratch-offs were brilliant, and I can't think of a better reward than remastered levels from the last game.
