Something I think would be funny: what if when Rayman loses his last stock in a match with more than two players, one of his hands/feet is left behind as a throwable item?
He has a lot of unique animations, perfect aesthetic for smash, a great legacy and a very functional combat system in his games It's honestly a wonder he wasn't added Perhaps there where too many pushes by the higher ups for yet another Fire Emblem character The next good Smash game will probably be made by the community (and there's already a couple of respectable ones) Sakurai doesn't want to make any more and Nintendo is clearly sticking their finger into the game for profit
yeah rayman would be fun. sadly rayman would probably be out prioritized by ezio auditore de firenze from assassin's creed because assassin's creed is HUGE especially compared to rayman
Really creative moveset and great job once again. My only thought is that the helicopter doesn’t necessarily need a meter. It could work similar to Peach and Daisy’s float which is finite but regenerates pretty instantaneously. Still like the unique descending properties though.
Peach and Daisy are good references to optional floatiness you can choose snap out of. That would be super accurate to Rayman's floaty platforming with those bounce pads/plants
What if Rayman has a crawl too? The animation itself would reference his crawl from his very first game. While I’m on the topic of Rayman 1, have his ledge hang reference that game too, where he looks towards the camera and points upwards as if he’s asking you if there’s anyone above him.
Gonna give my two cents in the form of a list: * That's a very unique concept for a down aerial, I never thought about taking moves from the GBA games. Plus it'd nice to see him utilize his torso for more attacks. * Thank you thank you THANK YOU for making Helicopter Hair part of his natural mobility instead of a special. That's something I've see a lot of fan movesets do that always bugs me. * Interesting choices for grabs, a lot of these seem pretty fun and I appreciate the diversity in terms of representation. And I'm surprised you included a Brawlhalla move in there too. * I feel like the scared gesture would be weird to use as a taunt, but I do love that you kept the grimace as one too. * I've never seen a lot of Yellow Shell used for his Side Special in most movesets. Nice implementation of it. * I like you using the Mosquito for his Final Smash, he's a very underappreciated concept for a Final Smash Overall this is a very well composed moveset. I've been a big fan of your concept videos and I was excited to see how you'd interpret my most wanted third party character.
Ngl, I wouldn't say the Mosquito is "underappreciated", as most Rayman mods for Smash that I've seen use exactly that. Unless you mean people aren't too fond of the idea, which I guess I should say I'm one of them, as imo it just kinda feels a bit rushed and lazy; but hey, to each their own, I guess.

I love this moveset. Also maybe while on the plum using the down tilt or down smash could also make it bounce higher while standing on it to mix up angles even more.
This is definitely one of your strongest Challenger Incoming Videos because of your strong justification on the body/limb mechanics. Ive noticed Sometimes Smash TH-camrs focus on referencing the source materials more than creating mechanics that would ACTUALLY show up in smash. For example PacMan's mechanics thats more focused on giving the chaotic fun feeling of playing pacman translated thru his movement, same with Wario and Warioware/Warioland. Mainly saying you struck the balance of mechanics and game pulling moves with Rayman. It also makes a more balanced and overall more fun play style.
Fantastic moveset, Rayman is such a great fit for Smash and it’s a shame he’s never made it to playable status, even though I am immensely happy with Ultimate’s roster as is. It’s a shame such a great and imaginative series struggles to find a footing, whether it be having its own series hijacked by the antagonists of a mini-game spin-off that was meant to be the 4th mainline entry or being in the hands of a company that genuinely does not know what to do with him.
Well now it's a reality! Ultimate S is a modpack that is creating new characters for Smash and today they announced Ray Man with a moveset and everything, as always, fans doing what Nintendo doesn't.
Rayman & Laracroft were my most wanted for Ultimate by far. But happy at least Hero my 3rd choice got in! Plus certain awesome surprised like Sephiroth
Another stellar moveset! I like how you made the plum work, letting Rayman perform ground attacks while on it. What are your thoughts on his design in Super Smash Flash 2?
Nice to see people still doing Smash concepts, even after ultamite was finished. This moveset is unique and represents him pretty well. Wonder who else the series will cover?
Nice! It's a pleasure to see material from Rayman 3 included. Rayman was one of my most-wanted third-party characters, so I was really hoping he'd finally be playable in Ultimate, but since Simon, Banjo, and Sora all made it in, I can't really complain.
Only really care about Rabbids and I'm a bit critical of fanmade Smash movesets, so I feel like it should be pretty telling that I love this. It's so clearly made out of a love for the franchise and is really unique without being alienating. I can imagine all the combos and recovery and techs and tier listings and all that. So much effort was put into this from start to finish and I applaud it.
With the neutral B,it acts like in the first game but you can fire both fists the same way. However, you move slower and can't attack until the fists return.tapping has bad range while holding and releasing has awesome range.
Rayman definitely deserves a spot on the roster, though the hypothetical moveset leaves a bit to be desired. Rather than a generic flip kick I'd like to see his up-air be a multi-hit attack where he uses his helicopter hair to attack, and it could even stall him in the air a bit. I'd also like if using his telescopic fists didn't disable attacking entirely, but rather only disabled certain attacks or hitboxes involving his hands so that catching opponents with the return hit can allow follow-ups.
YES!!! Thank you so much for doing the Limbless (and Neckless) Wonder justice, Delzethin!! :D Another solid Challenger Approaching video! It really does seem like the devs used Great Fray Smash Brothers as a point of reference when designing Rayman's attacks in his recent games, which is very neat. XD And while I do appreciate Michel Ancel for creating one of my favorite video game heroes, and as a creator in general, the man himself can go to hell (even though I'm an atheist). I do hope that someday Rayman can have a chance of joining Smash especially considering that he's had his own figure in both versions of For, and his own spirit in Special, meaning Sakurai, and his crew have had their eyes on him for a while now (even if I'm still unaware of there ever being a new Smash installment, especially since how much the latest game has accomplished, and how much of a toll it truly took on the entire Smash team)! Besides the mobile games, Rayman hasn't had a newer game since the early 2010's, it's basically been almost 1 decade since the latest installment, and judging just how terrible Ubisoft has been lately with their games, treating their employees like garbage, and anti-consumer for the past several years, I really hope it's a different company who works on newer installments for Ubisoft's former mascot, because they sure as well don't care about him anymore. Honestly, I don't have real attachment to any of the next 3 choices, so I'll be satisfied with whoever gets picked next.
Another great moveset, Del. You always have a way of making characters I don't know or care for seem interesting. That said, I'd love to see you tackle a Star Fox character like Krystal or Slippy. Your unique takes I feel could really make something different, yet fun for them.
i remember feeling like he was such a sure fire add to the roster back in smash 4 with Rayman Legends starting out as a Wii U exclusive before Ubisoft ported that game to every console for the next decade
Great work as usual. Here are a couple of characters I would want to see. Spyro-Reignites Ratchet and Clank- Crank things up! Kratos- Gets his vegenance! Sly Cooper- And the Gang in Smash! Riku- Walks the Path of Twilight Shadow- Brings the Chaos Kiryu Kazama- fights like a Dragon! Yu Narukami- Reaches for the Truth Aigis- Mass destruction! Travis Touchdown- No More Waiting! Monokuma- brings the despair! Sophita, Groh or Killik- show thier Calibur! Lloyd, Yuri, Jude, Millia, Velvet, Shinone- A Tale Told!
Cool moveset, and all, I just wish the Final Smash was something else. Something with a bit more pizazz, IDK, what would actually work. Maybe Rayman's friends ganging up on the fighters?
I feel as his final Smash should be Rayman and his friends just jumping anyone whom is caught by it with the mosquito coming in at the end and at high speed rams into the characters knocking them off screen if dmg% is high enough with Rayman landing on stage again
I’d rather have the Moskito as the Side-B and the Final Smash as something else (maybe reference the rock song stage from Legends), just to use/see the Moskito more often. But otherwise he’s got some neat options.
I still think his Final Smash should be Castle Rock from Rayman Legends, once you're there you and your opponent are running through the level only for you to fly off leaving your enemy to get scorched by the Dragon behind them, once you're back on the battlefield your enemy is seen flying with a fire effect still lasting for only a bit. (unless there percentage is high enough then they'll already have left the screen)
Rayman's final smash from the video should be more of a cinematic style and the hookjaw should be more of a grab/tether recovery. He was one of the characters I want for smash, oh well.
This was a really cool moveset idea. Rayman was my within my top 3 most wanted during ultimate, so it's unfortunate he ultimately didn't make the jump, as I thought he was as likely as Rex (technically?) was in regards to how their games got no new content throughout FP1 and 2 (not counting Rabbids). Really interesting video, and I guess we'll see which things aligned the day Rayman gets into Smash. I know a previous K Rool video got some things right, so there's that.
Rayman would be perfect on Melee/PM's movement since on origins and legends its very momentum based as you get more speed the more momentum you get from slopes or dashes
rayman is one of those characters i just thought would be in by now. although ive also thought the same about bomberman, waluigi, paperboy, marx, balloon fighter, and digdug... delzethin, would you ever do one of these challenger approachings for digdug or marx from kirby ?
Just curious, but did you play the recent updates of Super Smash Flash 2 for this video? I main Rayman in the game, and he does a similar thing with the plum there for his down special as you describe here. In fact, it becomes his go-to movement, and is one of the most fun tools in any platform fighter. They nailed it if you ask me. Regardless, I do prefer some of your concepts, like the changed down smash. Although, I would’ve switched the references for the down throw and down air personally.
I think it would be cool if he could throw out his hands, but the downside is that the opponent could hit the hands back and they would hit rayman in the face dealing extra damage to himself. A risk/reward move that can be parried would be really cool as a unique feature for rayman, the animation would also reflect raymans cartoony, carefree attitude
I think RM's NAir should be his spin attack from Legends; where his hands and feet move erratically in 360 degrees. As for his I think they should pay homage to: Betilla Glowbox The Teensies Raymesis Razorbeard Mr Dark
once when i thought of how i would make Rayman on smash, i had the same idea of using plumps as his down b, and i thought it would be funny and a good reference to the first games that if you manage to hit an enemy with a plump from above, the plump would stay on their heads for a bit, and give some kind of debuff, but i dont know what it should be and how i could be balanced. Like making characters heavier and making them more combeable, unable to jump or recovery well or something like that, but i dont know if that would be busted if used as an edge guard.
Rayman From Ubisoft’s Rayman Series I believe that could become a DLC Fighter 💜🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎮😉😎 for the Next “Smash Bros. Installment Game Entry” & there’s a lot of *Potentially* choices where can go with Rayman Moveset for the next Smash Bros.™️ game I like how you said his Specials Could Be: Neutral Special: Telescopic Fist/ Side Special: Yellow Shell/ Up Special: Throttle Copter/Down Special: Plum & Final Smash: Hi-Ho Moskito! Including Aerials & His Taunts are totally cool & consummate I love it but I believe that it’s a Good Pathway where can use his awesome Moveset for Smash 6 so can use his Grabs attacks & throw for his franchise & Represent from his past games from Rayman so I’m excited to see who’s the Next Challenger Approaching Content to make it for the next one I hope it’s Zoroark Or Black Mage but I’ll focus on Zoroark From: Pokémon.
Well now it's a reality! Ultimate S is a modpack that is creating new characters for Smash and today they announced Ray Man with a moveset and everything, as always, fans doing what Nintendo doesn't.
Kinda wished the Lockjaw chains from Rayman 3 were used somewhere over some of the more boring A moves as well as summoning Globox, Barbara and Grand Minimus for the Final Smash.
Speaking of Brawlhalla, why not have a tep from that game? Would probably be bodvar but I would personally love to see a gauntlet brawler in smash like Petra, Caspian or Mordex
Too bad the Smash Ultimate DLC train ended with Sora. I would've given at least 1 spot to this guy. A few more fans to be happy wouldn't really hurt, right? But of course Nintendo...
I always dreamt of Rayman being in smash, but sakurai ruined it each and every time with decent dlc characters in ultimate. I hope Rayman would make his comeback someday.
How would down-air work offstage, or high up above stage? does it bounce on nothing anyway or does it go down until it reaches the far-away stage/the blastzone?
I'm gonna be honest: I thought Ray man was a flash game character when I was little. I still don't know shit about him or how he's linked to the rabbids besides ubisoft making both. I thought they were his OC's
Something I think would be funny: what if when Rayman loses his last stock in a match with more than two players, one of his hands/feet is left behind as a throwable item?
thatd be great
Lol
That'd be awful AND hilarious.
E
But how would you get the item when it's in the blast zone.
He's by far my most wanted third party character. Rayman has such an aura of freedom and playfulness that I have to believe he'll join one day
He has a lot of unique animations, perfect aesthetic for smash, a great legacy and a very functional combat system in his games
It's honestly a wonder he wasn't added
Perhaps there where too many pushes by the higher ups for yet another Fire Emblem character
The next good Smash game will probably be made by the community (and there's already a couple of respectable ones)
Sakurai doesn't want to make any more and Nintendo is clearly sticking their finger into the game for profit
I Also really want Rayman, but i'm pretty sure thats The pov want more crash.
I've always wanted Rayman to be in smash.
At least SSF2 included him.
@@ashketchum6585 Smash Bros Crusade also added him, and that game doesn't run like 2 turds in a blender
(Flash be like that)
Both Rayman and Shantae deserves to be in Smash, they are the 2D Prince and Princess.
So Rayman, break the ice already and join Smash.
Sooo..
He was my most wanted Ultimate newcomer, I'm still amazed that a character who has been IN THE GAME since Smash 4 wasn't a given for playable
Yeah me too
yeah rayman would be fun. sadly rayman would probably be out prioritized by ezio auditore de firenze from assassin's creed because assassin's creed is HUGE especially compared to rayman
Backstabbed by a pretty boy and his furry friends.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Rayman should’ve been a DLC character in Sm4sh
What a great moveset--the down air was unique and unexpected.

I've always felt origins and legends gave a good basis for a smash moveset, glad to see I'm not the only one that thought that!
Even the brawlhalla reference? I'm in love with this moveset, though there's a rivals of aether Rayman mod I like a bit more, this is still great
Gonna give my two cents in the form of a list:

totally agree

@@isolated_illust An opinion you feel so strong about that you posted it thrice lol
Pretty solid video. Rayman would be such a fun addition to Smash
Gotta love how ray man is still just in those crystals on final destination.
Hearing that the creator of Rayman is linked to bad controversy hurtd my heart :c
Same.
I love this moveset. Also maybe while on the plum using the down tilt or down smash could also make it bounce higher while standing on it to mix up angles even more.
i imagine how you could spike people with the plum by down smashing the plum

I would replace Byleth with Rayman
Rayman's slide from legends could be a gimmick like wall jump and crouch, which could be done by trying to crouch while running or crouch on a ramp.
Can't believe we got Piranha Plant and Min Min instead of Rayman
Well now it's a reality!
Ultimate S is a modpack that is creating new characters for Smash and today they announced Ray Man with a moveset and everything, as always, fans doing what Nintendo doesn't.

It’s not like Smash is ending at Ultimate, so there’s not much of a reason to stop.
@@Neoxon619 Some people only tend to do these when the current smash is still getting support.

I just can't fight on Battlefield without looking at this iceberg in the background

i remember feeling like he was such a sure fire add to the roster back in smash 4 with Rayman Legends starting out as a Wii U exclusive before Ubisoft ported that game to every console for the next decade
Did you know, Rayman was given a blue hoodie in the Japanese version of Rayman 2 because the color purple is often associated with death or villains.
It's kinda funny since I actually got Rayman legends for my switch last week
Great work as usual. Here are a couple of characters I would want to see.
Spyro-Reignites
Ratchet and Clank- Crank things up!
Kratos- Gets his vegenance!
Sly Cooper- And the Gang in Smash!
Nathan Drake- goes Uncharted!
Sackboy- Gets Crafty!
Spike- Top Banana
Monster Hunter- Joins the Hunt!
Monster Rider- Rides on!
X- Goes Xtreme!
Zero- Goes Maverick!
Chris and Jill- Survives!
Phoenix Wright- The Defense is Ready!
Agnes Oblige- Braves the Battle!
Neku & Rin- Remix the Fight!
Yuna- Summon to Battle!

Shadow- Brings the Chaos
Kiryu Kazama- fights like a Dragon!
Yu Narukami- Reaches for the Truth
Aigis- Mass destruction!
Travis Touchdown- No More Waiting!
Monokuma- brings the despair!
Sophita, Groh or Killik- show thier Calibur!
Lloyd, Yuri, Jude, Millia, Velvet, Shinone- A Tale Told!
I do like these videos. I think it'd be cool if you added a stage some music and their victory poses
rayman legend and origins really does make it easy to imagine his basic attacks in smash bros
Cool moveset, and all, I just wish the Final Smash was something else. Something with a bit more pizazz, IDK, what would actually work. Maybe Rayman's friends ganging up on the fighters?
I feel like your suggestion lacks more pizazz than the final smash he used
How about the mosquito
I am actually surprised Ubisoft has not done more Rayman stuff in general.
I feel as his final Smash should be Rayman and his friends just jumping anyone whom is caught by it with the mosquito coming in at the end and at high speed rams into the characters knocking them off screen if dmg% is high enough with Rayman landing on stage again
I like the playstyle try Club Penguin or Space Invaders or Tetromino that would be interesting to see how would you build up their moveset
Plum's mechanics kinda remind me of how it works in SSF2, minus that one's use as a borked recovery
No tether grab with the shockjaw from Rayman 3?
It even has a build in pummel!
This is my favorite fan-made moveset BY FAR
HIS PLAN A IS SUPPOSED TO SPACE ATTACKS AT LONG RANGE AND HIS IDLE B SHOULD WORK LIKE THIS👇
Tap:Short range punch
Hold & let go:Long range punch
Rayman's final smash from the video should be more of a cinematic style and the hookjaw should be more of a grab/tether recovery. He was one of the characters I want for smash, oh well.
This was a really cool moveset idea. Rayman was my within my top 3 most wanted during ultimate, so it's unfortunate he ultimately didn't make the jump, as I thought he was as likely as Rex (technically?) was in regards to how their games got no new content throughout FP1 and 2 (not counting Rabbids).

I would actually give Rayman his aerial combo from Legends and make him an air fighter like Sora.
They actually would be quite similar.

Speaking of non existent leg up “ezio”(from assassin’s creed )(I probably spelt his name wrong)) is in Brawlhalla like Rayman
Do Cuphead because he is a very popular character and would suit Smash well.
References: Cuphead 1 & 2, Comic Books, TV series, and Rival of Aether.
i can see him being my 2nd Main. i think he'd pretty much compliment my Megaman as a strong mid-ranger
Just curious, but did you play the recent updates of Super Smash Flash 2 for this video? A risk/reward move that can be parried would be really cool as a unique feature for rayman, the animation would also reflect raymans cartoony, carefree attitude
Rayman and Shantae were my #1.
Followed by Doomguy and 2B.
Since Sora came out, I lost hope for Rayman in smash. But now, I think there may be a game after ultimate that has Rayman in it.
I think RM's NAir should be his spin attack from Legends; where his hands and feet move erratically in 360 degrees. As for his I think they should pay homage to:
Betilla
Glowbox
The Teensies
Raymesis
Razorbeard
Mr Dark
Odd. Never got an alert for this. Welp, bookmark to watch tomorrow.
once when i thought of how i would make Rayman on smash, i had the same idea of using plumps as his down b, and i thought it would be funny and a good reference to the first games that if you manage to hit an enemy with a plump from above, the plump would stay on their heads for a bit, and give some kind of debuff, but i dont know what it should be and how i could be balanced.
Like making characters heavier and making them more combeable, unable to jump or recovery well or something like that, but i dont know if that would be busted if used as an edge guard.
he deserves to be in smash, one day perhaps?
I think it'd be cool if rabbids would be implimented in his final smash
Would love to see a video on if Jibanyan got into smash🙂
I should note that the specific mosquito that Rayman is friends with is named Bzzit. The other, darker-colored one is Moskito. Confusing, I know.
Kinda wished the Lockjaw chains from Rayman 3 were used somewhere over some of the more boring A moves as well as summoning Globox, Barbara and Grand Minimus for the Final Smash.
Given how it's utilized in Rayman 3, I think Lockjaw is better utilized as a tether/grab than an A move
This is really cool, i want him in smash so bad
Solid stuff!
Hey, we’re you on the team that made rayman in super smash flash? because this is really similar!
Not affiliated at all! We just had some similar ideas.
@@Delzethin ok! Thanks for letting me/us all know!
Would love to see how you would adapt Shantae
Speaking of Brawlhalla, why not have a tep from that game? Would probably be bodvar but I would personally love to see a gauntlet brawler in smash like Petra, Caspian or Mordex
Rayman would make a good magic Brawler Skylander
It was worth the wait!
In a perfect world, we would’ve gotten Rayman instead of Byleth.
Too bad the Smash Ultimate DLC train ended with Sora. I would've given at least 1 spot to this guy. A few more fans to be happy wouldn't really hurt, right?
But of course Nintendo...
Hell yeah.
Wasn't he stuck in that large piece of ice/crystal on the Battlefield stage ?
Sadly yes 😔
Great concept! Now do Phoenix Wright next
Ubisoft won’t revive him so Sakurai must.
Same with Microsoft and Banjo
Same with Square-enix and Geno
they're waiting for Rayman to get a new game developed
Platformer characters fit very well im smash due to the nature of the game
Maybe Nintendo's keeping Rayman from joining Smash just out of spite towards that one hoax?
Nintendo was like let's rub it in by making another Mario + rabbids game
Not gonna lie, I only want Rayman in Smash so I can get my hands on the inevitable Amiibo.
Get your "hands" on it.
Hahahaha.
I will Rayman Crash Bandicoot 2B and Dante
So far still haven't seen smash add Disney or pixar characters.
sora is literally right there
Do you think you could do Master Chief or Zero next?
I always dreamt of Rayman being in smash, but sakurai ruined it each and every time with decent dlc characters in ultimate. I hope Rayman would make his comeback someday.
I wonder how he compares to Min Min
I really want rayman in smash
Me too
Good video!
How would down-air work offstage, or high up above stage? does it bounce on nothing anyway or does it go down until it reaches the far-away stage/the blastzone?
This is giveing me ssf2 vibes
Please do raiden from metal gear rising next.
To me Rayman would make a better assist trophy than an actual character. Great vid though
I'm gonna be honest: I thought Ray man was a flash game character when I was little. I still don't know shit about him or how he's linked to the rabbids besides ubisoft making both. I thought they were his OC's
but what about his final smash
