I believe it isn’t about control but about who is more special or is given priority , actually they both have their own roles and place in husband/son’s life. Once they have maturity to realise that and do not cross each other’s space , cordial relationship can be maintained.

You came across as a bossy woman 😅 but after watching few other videos of yours i felt how bold and dynamic you are . On a serious note, this is the most candid topic that you both have discussed about and its really wonderful and most importantly very useful for all - young, old, middle, whatever the generation be. Communication is "the key". One has to speak their mind and express their personality. The listener should always have the open-mindedness. A simple, constructive conversation (with no judgment or jealousy or anger) will honestly solve all the misunderstandings, IMHO. These last three sentences go both ways (to the one who speaks and also to the one who listens). There's no "one size fits all" OR "ths is the right/wrong way". Bottom line is "Understanding". This is what we have heard in those (my days) days - "Vittu kuduthu poganum". This whole discussion - I could not agree more with you both. Excellent explanation about the relationship between mil and dil.I am a mother in law in my seventy plus age .As you said,I follow Ramana Maharishi,Summa iru.For the last three years most part of the year I am with my son.My husband is mostly silent.But I have been a teacher,so like to talk any topic.But keeping the harmony of the family I am casual,doing things what I can do in the kitchen and then quietly mind my work.My son and daughter-in-law are very nice in all matters.both of them are scientists.So I still enjoy the stay with them.But I like your arguments.

Hi such a candid open conversation that I’m inclined to give my feedback - I think drawing that line or expectation isn’t as easy esp when sons are very attached to moms …because that itself can cause issues e.g if I set an expectation that I cannot make coffee or breakfast early when In-laws come overseas as I get up late , that itself will cause my husband to feel bad it ends up impacting our relationship as well . Plus they way you said rarely in-laws takeover kitchen so it’s always partial responsibility so causes lines being blurred on who does what etc if the husband is not receptive to these lines/boundaries it’s not possible to set them - think you should address that as well. What if husband makes these requests to us - can you make breakfast or coffee for them as they are aged that’s when it conflicts with ours 😂sorry for making it complex

Idi thangi velai ippo kammi aiduchi in this generation..,girls r smart enough..,Right from day 1 setting d boundaries..,gone were d days were gents were putting d conditions as in manal kayiru movie..,now vice-versa..,whether she is a house wife r a working woman she needs kitchen closed during d weekend, vocation, blah blah..,living d life in their own terms..,many mamiyars r adjusting otherwise family ll b broken..,it's happening in India these days..,ippo ellam ponnu kedaikurade peraiya vishayam 😮..,in between beautiful conversation u n Vinoth 😀👌..,i always luv your podcasts..,expecting more n more❤
