In a roomful of robots, Spooner (Will Smith) attempts to find the murderer.

Director Alex Proyas (Dark City, The Crow) helmed this sci-fi thriller inspired by the stories in Isaac Asimov's nine-story anthology of the same name. In the future presented in the film, humans have become exceedingly dependent on robots in their everyday lives. Robots have become more and more advanced, but each one is preprogrammed to always obey humans and to, under no circumstances, ever harm a human. So, when a scientist turns up dead and a humanoid robot is the main suspect, the world is left to wonder if they are as safe around their electronic servants as previously thought. Will Smith stars as Del Spooner, the robot-hating Chicago cop assigned to the murder investigation. Bridget Moynahan, Bruce Greenwood, James Cromwell, and Chi McBride also star.

Junji Nation Good luck with that mate. They're already making Cyborgs in 2017. They even have some in the military, and working as employees.
They were designed to. They fit into what's called the "Uncanny Valley". They're so close to looking human, but still not quite close enough to be human, and so our brains see the slight difference as bad and we become afraid, kind of like our reaction to aliens, zombies, or talking puppets/dolls.

i remember seeing this while in a hospital when I was 5 or 6 and I loved it. I never forgot about the robot running scene but never remembered the name of the movie. I’m glad I found it, I feel like a child again 🙂

When I was little this movie used to scare me, but when I see it now, I actually really like the movie.Its a pretty solid action movie with it's own concept. Also, Will Smith is literally my favorite actor....so yes, I love almost all of his movies anyways.

The danger in this movie is very real, AI is advancing faster and faster. Everything you do on the internet uses some sort of AI. There are robots that have a higher iq than humans. Soon we will have robots working in factories instead of humans, and soon we will have robots everywhere.

I think they should make a sequel to this film!!! And a prequel.
A prequel of a story based on Dr Laney (robot scientist specialist), and how VIKI became in power of controlling his life. Could end the film with Dr Laney building Sonny, and giving the orders to throw him out the window. Then the film cuts to credits.
And a sequel of how the world begins living without robotic systems to help them in everyday life. Could have a story where new/old Governments collapse or set up trying to plan out new systems. Could have bad guys hack the robots sitting in storage, or even the return of VIKI. Could have a sequel where VIKI's system had a back up system or facility.
I think there would/could be some fresh opportunity to make some sequels/prequels, and go a little further into the amazing cool world of iRobot!!!!
I like your ideas. I'm also a big fan of iRobot and for a prequel, it should definitely feature VIKI in a more sinister light in how she slowly evolved and then tormented Dr. Laney. It'd be kind of like of a HAL villain.
And I don't know how it is in written works that this movie was based on but I have a theory that maybe Dr. Laney lost a child once and that is how he discovered the secret to making robots so lifelike and maybe he built Sonny as a way to cope with that.

Spooner really didn't have to shoot them. All he had to do was look for blue eyes. That's how you can tell sonny from the rest of them
True, but he may not have realized that. At this point in the movie, he had only seen Sonny up close once, and it was just for a few seconds before he ran off. What he DID know, however, was that Sonny showed self-preservation and did not obey commands like the others.

I used to think this movie was the future and it was.
This scene has some error. How could sonny hide in a perfectly arrayed robots in the first place? To do that Sonny must replace the robot and make it magically disappear. Same goes to the scene where Sonny hides again among the robots.

Regardless of it not be proportional, you would still have some serious trouble finding him in a crowd of so many robotics that look the same. It’s not flawed at all. Your brain sees patterns and he’s not exactly sticking out like a sore thumb. He’s perfectly camouflaged in the hundreds of identical.

Originally there has to be 1000 robots in the room, which would make a rectangular formation (for example, 25*40). If sonny were to hide in this formation, he will disrupt the organized pattern completely. You suggested that it would be very difficult to find him among the crowd of robots. However, prior to this, will smith and the chick observed the crowd on a much higher ground, which will make it easy to point out where the pattern is disorganized. The explanation I can think of is that sonny carried the robot to the corner and took its former place. It isn't fool proof, but still they won't know sonny's whereabouts.

This is flawed becus sonny has to magically remove the robot and take its place in order to follow the synchronized pattern, Maybe sonny once again hid in a place where he was first found. It feels far fetched, but that is the only logical explanation that I can think of.
