I used to own the 27' version and my son and I spend quite a few summers cruising around B.C. We have many good memories. The build quality of the Ranger Tug was mixed. They did an admirable job of maximizing space use. The seats are uncomfortable for long term use. There is no vent for the stove/oven and it could get a bit smokey in the cabin. We had the optional diesel heater and it did a great job of keeping us warm on some cool and damp nights. What we did discover, by experience, was that the heater used the same fuel tank as the engine. As the engine used electronic fuel flow to calculate fuel consumption and remaining fuel it would reduce available fuel reserve without telling us. We actually ran out of fuel on our way into Comox. Luckily we has a spare can of diesel. The inverter had to be replaced three times. The fuse for the front thruster was the same as for the windlass and would blow. Took them some time to figure that out. The radar dome assembly had to be replaced. The thrusters are good enough in relatively calm conditions. The Volvo engine control harness was not the correct one resulting in errors. They could not find a correct harness and ended up splicing cables to make it work. When you are on holidays you really don't want to spend time in the shop fixing things like this on a new boat. Seaworthiness? I caution anyone going into heavy seas. The bow is not friendly to oncoming waves resulting in very uncomfortable slamming into the waves. We had to slow down to sub 5 Kt speeds. The boat also rolls a lot. To the extent that the kitchen cupboard doors would fly open and spill the contents. Finally, after a service the technician forgot to tighten the oil cap resulting in quite a mess. Engine instrument warned us of low oil!

First I would like to say that I love your videos. I just thought I should clarify the statement that this boat is trailerable. The maximum legal width of a trailer on a road is 8.5 feet in USA and Canada. This is for hooking up and driving anywhere and anytime you want. This boat is trailerable but is considered a wide load and you have to buy a special permit every time you move it.
In Europe this could only be moved on a semi. Also @ 3 mtrs would be considered to be a wide load. Would need to be craned on & off @ each end. Still a nice boat though. Fair winds & regards from the UK

It really is impressive how much they packed into such a small boat. It would be perfect for where I live in the northeast of the US. There are plenty of islands within the cruising range of this yacht. I could even store it in the offseason in my yard! No yard fees!
No washing machine so on the Great Loop you'd have to use laundromats in towns. Didn't see a water maker (just have to drink beer and wine, I guess) Looks like a very easy boat to maneuver in tight spaces like canal locks.
Talk about an amazing little live aboard and with it's range there's no reason I can see you couldn't head out from Florida to spend some time in the Bahamas. What a truly spectacular little vessel that's well appointed and a proven hull design that if you were dumb enough to get caught in bad weather would get you safely through it. The reason I say dumb enough is not meant as an insult it's because with today's weather predictions and the ability to know what's coming there's no reason to get caught in it barring some sort of failure or other circumstance. The thing is she's also more than fast enough to outrun anything you failed to see coming, well almost anything. This would be a dream vessel for me and the fact you can trailer it means no haul out fees or storage fees if you have a property to take her to. Also on the comment about using an RV Garage seeing as how when folded down she's only 10'3" tall there'd be no issues with that and you can easily take her down most major highways/interstates as when folded her clearance is below that of a Tractor Trailer/Big Rig. Now to win the lottery or have some stocks actually pay off and away I'd go...
I have always wanted to do, " The Great Loop" . We live on Lake Michigan so we would start from here in late summer. Fyi, every time I watch you video, ( with I love to watch ) and Rico says, " hard top " it sounds like he is saying, " hot tub" . And I am like, where? No way ! Lol
First time viewer....blown away by the narrative combo. The lady is, as the Jackie Wilson song went, "Reet Petite!" An adorable ball of energy, and you both are like Kids in the candy shop. Now me...I'm 6' 2", weigh about 250....what kind of chance would I have on such a stunning yet Smaller tug like this one? 31' sounds like it'd cramp me! 😕
The oversize road permit to trailer this craft can be quite an adventure in some states. Escort vehicles, designated routes, avoiding low bridges, daylight hours, and dry road conditions only travel is the challenge. The fees are usually nominal and a CDL may or may not be required depending on tow vehicles weight with everything loaded up for an excursion. Be safe.
Love love love it!! So cute 😍. As an "old man" that travels alone something like this would be perfect! So ... yes please more reviews on "pocket yachts" would be great! Love the channel, keep up the great work! 👍
I looked at their website and I have to say the 31 is totally the way to go. I thought the 43 would be better but the interior is like so many other yachts today. I love the coziness the use of wood in their other models brings to the interior. The 43 has too much white and feels to clinical and clean. Although I love the way the sleeping quarters look on the 43 i'd rather have the 31 you showed here. Of course I could never afford the 43 and would have to sell my house and move into the 31.................shit I could that.
What a super little tug! She's a beaut! As always you two give a great survey! I hope this post finds you both well! I wish you two also the very best of what nautical life has to offer. What a couple! Great work. My best regards to the vessels manufacturer.Neat, shipshape, and well designed.Hats of to you all.
If you happen to see a other tug around this size with out a fly bridge I would be appreciative, and the wind didn't cause any sound problems was able to hear the both of you very clearly great video and a nice tug boat 👍🤙🙂
If I knew you guys were there, I would have stopped in. I went by on my friends boat in the intracoastal. I'm in North Palm Beach for the winter. Love the Ranger Tugs and your video.
What a nice little boat. You are so right, it would be awesome to do the Great Loop. Good size, small draft fuel efficient and just enough room for two. I think you could have a lot of fun on this boat. Thanks as always for a lovely tour! Cheers
That's a swiss army tug. Incredibly equipped, has everyone a person would need for a liveaboard in a tiny home at sea format! A little tight for a couple and probably too small for a family except for a weekend or short trip. I love this one :)
Happy to see you made it to the Palm Beach international Boat Show. Over 1000 boats in an amazing setting...we love it here. Always waiting for your reviews every Saturday or more often. The two of you provide a unique chemistry, informative video and information with a flare not provided by anyone else. Thank you.
Overall, really seems like a cozy 'pocket' weekender that I would buy, because I really might value the ability to put it on a trailer and enjoy West Coast excursions- Baja-to-Alaska marina journey. I did like that galley (I usually dislike the galley on boats this size). I especially liked it's position in the salon main salon (not placed down somewhere). But I would delete the wine cooler, instead replace with a upgraded custom cabinet containing a separate freezer. I also do not care for hanging my dingy upright on the back - acts to much like a wind-sail, could easily cost me 2-3 knots and blocks the view. I appreciate they're showing how one could stow, but I'd likely option to just leave it at the berth. Good show NautiStyles !
New frock! What a lovely 31ft boat packed to the rafters with good ideas. Hydraulic lift for the engine access, how cool is that on a 31? Those mast stays and deck shackles need more thought, they're little toe removers. I'm really looking forward to the vlog on the larger Tug and what about a Maritimo walk through?
Excellent tour (as usual) I’m not even a boat guy (other than my kayak) but this looks like an amazing, well laid out boat. It amazes me how they lay out these boats and utilize every nook and cranny with unique cool features!
I am not sure about that model but on mine, you could slide the oven door in under the oven when the oven door is open so that the door is not in the way when cooking with people coming and going through the walkway.
Thanks guys, I always wanted to see tour of this highly-capable pocket cruiser tug. I think you are right this might be ideal for a Great Loop adventure with easy boat handling in tight spots or under bridges while offering generous cruising speed for great lake crossings. Cheers!
I prefer the tug designs to all boat designs. I follow Nordic Tugs and Ranger closely. There are significant differences. I like this model from Ranger particularly. Thank you for the show. Great job!👍❤️🇺🇸
A very cute little yacht. I looked at their full range and if I was going to do the Loop, I think I'd go with the 43, just for the extra room and conveniences.
For the size of boat it’s amazing what was fitted in, the access to the bow might be a challenge at first but should be easy enough. The second cabin is a great idea and the discreet lavatory is a clever idea. Very flexible and a good starter boat, not too big.
Great review as usual. It's nice seeing a boat reviewed that is not in powerball type money. I haven't seen a review before of one of these but have interested. This would be a perfect couples boat for the great loop or river cruising. Definitely prefer the inboard version as it allows you to carry a dinghy, no need to dock at a marina every night but still explore on shore. Anyone with experience traveling in a rv would find this easy to manage. Ranger tugs,Volvo and Garmin need to sponsor you guys for at least a trip along the east coast of the loop.
Awesome boats. The Honda Civic of the Puget Sound. Seriously, they are everywhere in the Seattle area. Love the more down to earth boats. The big stuff is cool but they represent a small portion vs what us "normal" folks can aspire to.
Your style and info about the ships is the best around. Both of you add your own style to the tour. Great info all around and some fun while doing it, that is what sets your channel apart. Great work and keep it up.
The Loop is on my bucket list too! I actually found your channel a year ago while searching for Great Loop boats. Love your channel and am so happy to see you review a Loop-capable boat. Now, I just need to convince my wife!
I did not remember seeing this yacht, but wow, for 31 foot. The great loop is a very interesting idea. Seem like a wonderful couple boat with size, romantic spots and extremely practical.
You might take a peek at the Cutwater line, I THINK they're the same parent company as Ranger. They're more of a fishing boat than a tug but have very similar features for a given size.
The Cutwater is a nice boat. I got the chance to climb around one when I was at the NY boat show...oh, it was probably 4 or 5 years ago now. I think I prefer the tug as you get a bit more boat, and I think the hull shape is a bit more capable. That said, the Cutwater is still a lot of boat for its size too. ...weird... I never thought I would be discussing a boat I had set foot on in real life on a channel like this... Follow your dreams, kids! lol Another funny observation - there is definitely a "law of diminishing returns" with these things. A 50' foot boat isn't always better than a 31'. Personally. I was rather unimpressed with a...I think it was a Princess? 1.3 mil at the time. Fit and finish wasn't quite as good as the humble Ranger Tug, and you really didn't get all that much more boat for paying that hefty premium.
Little yacht with a lot of heart and big boat features, front and rear thrusters really would make it a very capable. As for being a 'trailable trawler', this really opens the market up for the pocket rocket as an economical entry into a fantastic way of life. Small family or close friends a lot of fun to be enjoyed. You are the 'masters' of bringing out the best of any vessel making a very desirable purchase, congratulations yet again to the both of you.
Very nice. We have the Ranger Tug R-43 CB which is so freaking incredible for its size. We live in it which works perfectly for us as we are only 2 adults and 1 child at the moment. We are living in it until our house is built.
Another brand in the sub 35 foot range I'd like to see is the Nordic 34 (or any of their models). Another cruiser I'd also like to see is the Aspen C108. Any boat that can run the loop and cruise the Caribbean and NA Coastlines is pretty ideal imo.
Never heard the term pocket yacht but now I understand it. Lots of great and well thought out features. Pretty fast for a relatively low amount of horsepower for how big the boat seems. Impressive you can trailer it.
This one has a trailer height of 13'4" on the factory trailer with the mast and everything on the fly bridge folded. Even with the radar mast up, you should be able to complete the loop (unless you want to do the downtown Chiraq portion or the western Erie Canal).
One other feature that trailerable tugs offer is the ability to use them as a RV on your way to and from inland cruising destinations such as the Great Lakes, Tahoe, river ways etc.
Never considered that feature but pretty useful now that I think about it. However I wonder how comfortable it is to actually stay in vs a hotel lol but still would be useful
As a single guy with a small dog this is such a delightful tug and the trailerability only makes it more attractive!
A perfect boat for cruising around Chesapeake Bay. Do a little fishing and crabbing. This boat is it.

Your mention of this as a tow-behind to an RV now has me thinking... a strong consideration...
I see these quite often and never realized how complete they are.
NW for sure.
Astonishing use of space on Ranger Tugs. Only 31 feet with all the bells and whistles. Adorable boat that can be trailored. Crazy!
I have always wanted to do, " The Great Loop" . We live on Lake Michigan so we would start from here in late summer.
Fyi, every time I watch you video, ( with I love to watch ) and Rico says, " hard top " it sounds like he is saying, " hot tub" . And I am like, where? No way ! Lol
hahahaha, sowwy! lol
I love the light colors and small and charming 1950s feel. Rico and the R-31 boat are pretty nice too I guess.
A mazing bundle of options for speed, comfort and usefulness in a compact vessel.
Be safe.
You folks seem very nice, and sincere about what you do. Natural.
Thanks Gary
GREAT little Pocket Yacht! Tiny detail you missed, but the Helm seat also folds forward, for even more prep space while in the galley!
GREAT job with the wind. It was really not as bad as I expected.
Cool little boat. Looks cozy. Would be great for an adventurous couples honeymoon.
Très bien ce petit croiseur, parfait pour une croisière à deux, en amoureux. Les finitions ont l'air superbes...
Amazing vessel for its size, there’s a lot packed in there.
Cool to see these smaller, sub million dollar boats. Hope you have more lined up!
More to come!
If you happen to see a other tug around this size with out a fly bridge I would be appreciative, and the wind didn't cause any sound problems was able to hear the both of you very clearly great video and a nice tug boat 👍🤙🙂
I've noticed NautiStyles always has very good audio
Will do, thanks guys!
look at the ranger tug 31 s (sedan) no fly bridge
You can get this one without the fly bridge
That'd be awesome right!?! I totally agree! Challenge, Re-Comment if you'd have a sundowner on this!?!?
I love it. I could full time live aboard on this one
If I knew you guys were there, I would have stopped in. I went by on my friends boat in the intracoastal. I'm in North Palm Beach for the winter. Love the Ranger Tugs and your video.
*Glad to see a smaller cruiser covered, and what an eye opener this model is!*
What a nice little boat. You are so right, it would be awesome to do the Great Loop. Good size, small draft fuel efficient and just enough room for two. I think you could have a lot of fun on this boat. Thanks as always for a lovely tour!
Cheers
this would be a great middle class weekender
How cute is she! First time here. I think I will stay!
I really love all of the Ranger Tugs boats. They pack so much stuff into a small package.
I love this boat. I could pull it around with my 2500 HD and enjoy it all over. As you mentioned, it is perfect for two people. Thanks for the video!
Right on!
What a great little tug would love to take it up and around the Pacific Northwest. "Cheers"
That's a swiss army tug. Incredibly equipped, has everyone a person would need for a liveaboard in a tiny home at sea format! A little tight for a couple and probably too small for a family except for a weekend or short trip. I love this one :)
She’s nice lovely shape.
The boat is also nice
My youngest daughter summed it up the best: “it’s tiny & cute”.
You should also look at the Cutwater Command Bridge. I fell in love...lol I believe this boat, when fully collapsed, is a little less than 15 ft.
Nice little tug. It misses two things of importance; dishwasher and clothes washer dryer. But for a limited size it is very well equipped. Nice tour.
If you don’t need that extra cabin, you could modify it for a laundry room and extra storage
Good point!
@@ovmn good point. It's about the right size. And has plumbing. Leave the toilet and still have a day head.
I love NautiStyles
I love Ranger Tugs..
this is the best!!
Thank god for the camera man who is very knowledgeable and does great at explaining. She knows very little !!!
She is extremely knowledgeable and is also a certified Captain. Obviously you are new here.
I Love it ! perfect for crusing the west coast of British Columbia
Steel Hull 60ft tug. Thank you...you always have great outfits
Cut water 32 has the collapsing fly bridge also. Their cut water 32 with twin outboards. Great boat.
Its hard to go from that bering 77 back to the Ranger tugs... but the tugs are what i can afford... glad you did this walk through
🙈 I totally get it! 😁
This is the perfect boat for anywhere. I could live on this.
Amazing, I need one in my life. But I’m also curious about the boat on the starboard side too
You and me both!
Beautiful Boat with a Beautiful couple ! Another wonderful tour !
If I were to return to the US and buy a boat, that would be the boat.
I have an interest in power cat's, so I am very excited when I see powered multi-hull boats.
This is a nice boat.
You might take a peek at the Cutwater line, I THINK they're the same parent company as Ranger. They're more of a fishing boat than a tug but have very similar features for a given size.
yes, you are correct!
Any boat that can run the loop and cruise the Caribbean and NA Coastlines is pretty ideal imo.
noted
The Nordic 34 will handle just about any sea state. I did a sea trial in 35 knots and 4 footers and it handled very well.
He was so happy when he saw the cupholders!!!
Wow! 🤯 Wow!🤩 Wow!😮. This boat is beautiful and practically perfect for a couple starting out on a boating journey!
This boat really has a lot in it. Very impressive.
Thanks to y’all I now know what vessel me and my wife are gonna loop on. Thanks for a great video
Красивая и функциональная лодка. Ведущая просто очаровательна. Супер!
Never heard the term pocket yacht but now I understand it. Lots of great and well thought out features. Pretty fast for a relatively low amount of horsepower for how big the boat seems. Impressive you can trailer it.
Thank you so much for showing us a Ranger! Love the look of them and I see many going back and forth here in the PNW. And trailerable! Wow!!
You bet!
You two make a great presentation team, informative and friendly as you give a very detailed description of the boat.
You have an amazing microphone setup. The sound was great even with all the wind.
Thanks Mark, also did some work in post
This one has a trailer height of 13'4" on the factory trailer with the mast and everything on the fly bridge folded. Even with the radar mast up, you should be able to complete the loop (unless you want to do the downtown Chiraq portion or the western Erie Canal).
Thanks, I was just going to research that
One other feature that trailerable tugs offer is the ability to use them as a RV on your way to and from inland cruising destinations such as the Great Lakes, Tahoe, river ways etc.
Never considered that feature but pretty useful now that I think about it. However I wonder how comfortable it is to actually stay in vs a hotel lol but still would be useful
I’m impressed. A lot of features in a small package.
