Beautifully done video and with excellent narration. Thank you for the effort and for sharing. Who look forward to part 2 when completed. Toto is a fine vessel.
Thanks for the nice kind comments. We’re looking forward to heading back up there next year to finish the Trent Severn canal. In the meanwhile, we have a couple more videos getting ready to be launched this winter for your enjoyment of the Connecticut river and some other day trips that we did. We love the ranger tug and it’s such a great little boat.!
Thanks for the kind words. We had such a great visit to the Trent Severn. It’s definitely a hidden gem. We were sad that we couldn’t make it all the way through because the lift lock was closed. We plan on doing the second half of our adventure next year. It’s a perfect trip for a ranger tug.
Thanks so much. I try and make some videos that are a little informational instead of just some random videos. I have a video. I am working on of the lower Connecticut river right now. I appreciate your support.
You can camp at almost all of the locks which is really neat. Did you have to buy a separate camping permit even if you’re in a boat. It’s well worth the money and we only spent one night in a marina on our vacation and did the rest of the time camping at locks. The people in Canada and the whole region up there were so generous and kind. We can’t wait to go back.
Great Job Show casing an amazing waterway that is in my back yard ! We keep our 1984 Carver 2807 Riviera in Belleville and in August of 2022 took it from Belleville up the Trent Severn to Bobcageon. Please Come back as there is so much more for you to see ! Not to be "That Guy" but the start of the southern part of the Trent Severn is the Bay of Quinte and it is pronounced Quinn-Tee lol. Your Tug looks like an amazing craft, hope to see you finish the Trent in 2023
Hey. Thanks so much for the kind words. We had such a great visit and were amazed around every corner to meet someone nice or see something interesting. It is a very unique waterway and we can’t wait to go back and explore the rest of it. Thanks for the correction on the pronunciation. We had gone back-and-forth several times about the correct pronunciation hopefully our paths will cross on the Trent again soon.
Enjoyed your journey of the Trent. I did the Trent Severn in 2022 as well but in Aug so may have missed you. I did mine from Napanee to Georgian Bay and back over 23 days using only solar electric power.
That’s pretty cool. It’s amazing to see how many electric boats are starting to go out there. A lot of boats are size and bigger. Are relying on solar energy for most of their power now. It’s nice to see some solar powered propulsion boats working out there too. We underestimated how long it would take us just to do the portion that we did because we stopped along the way in so many places there’s so many different towns to explore. It certainly is a trip they could take you a month even going on way.
Enjoyed the video! Hopefully you do get to do the Severn River end. Years ago my parents had a cottage near Big Chute marine railway, so I am very familiar with the Severn end, as I did a lot of day trips in my fishing boat. 😁
I do believe I watched you sail by !! I have a spot between lock 7 and lock 8. Glen Ross to Percy's Boom. I have done the trip myself up to Pigeon lake and back. An absolute amazing times ,people and sights. Hope you had the experience of a lifetime !! Cheers
Hey. Thanks for the feedback. We had an absolutely awesome time and couldn’t have Matt nicer people along the way. The lock masters were great as well as all the people that we metal on tHey. Thanks for the feedback. We had an absolutely awesome time and couldn’t have met nicer people along the way. The lock masters were great as well as all the people that we met along the way who are very welcoming. It is truly a hidden gem that not a lot of people know about. We can’t wait to go back and experience the second part of the canal, hopefully we sail by you again !
You should look into it. We’ve seen boats as small as 12 feet out on the canal. We also saw people in canoes and kayaks going through the locks. If you’re close to the Erie canal, you should look into that.
@ we went through kirkfield lift lock 2 weeks ago on a quick day trip. Kids loved it. I’ll need to figure something out for extended trips, the boat is too small for us to sleep in, I know some locks allow camping. Will see.
It's a shame that you didn't have the time to go further. The best part of the Trent starts just past Peterborough. Hi hopefully you get to explore that section another time.
Hey. Thanks for the comment. We actually returned last year and did the second half all the way out to Lake Simcoe and plan on returning this fall to finish it up and head out to Georgian Bay. Look for a video soon. Thanks again.
Nice job on the video. I hope produce mine and do a nice job when I do the Great loop on my 24' express cruiser. the Trent Severn is on my to do list. Do they have pump outs for the boats available on the trip?
Hey - there are plenty of pump outs along t he way - the harder part is gas and then even worse is diesel. We brought extra can of fuel just because alomost no marina had it. pleanty of great marinas along the way - use waterway guide!
Is there a “ranger tug” community that I can start looking around for a used 21-ec? I love this boat and have been watching you for years. Thanks for any input you may have
CORRECTION MAYBE! I really like this video and your style of presentation but I'm pretty sure the lock you label as 7 - Glen Ross is actually 8 - Percy Reach - might want to check that. Thanks anyway :)
Thansk so much! I figured that out after hearing from a few folks! Sorry about the wording - such a nice area and great people - much embarrased about the mispronunciation!
@@jonathanhall7290 no problem. The bay is beautiful. Monster walleyes too. In the spring when they spawn up the Moira river holy crap dude. You could literally walk across the river on their backs. It’s an amazing sight to behold.
Hi. Sadly, this boat is not for sale and we are still enjoying it. There are several Ranger Tug 21 Available in the marketplace. They come and go periodically. I would check two places. One is a forum called tugnuts.com where people post their boats for sale. The other one is yacht world.com. We’re currently I see there are several Rangers for sale.
Hi there, nice job. Not to be party pooper but I couldn't help but notice your boat in motion and you have a open beer in a buddy. This will get you in a lot of trouble if the Poe-lease see you. It can lead to a breath analysis and license suspension if caught and of course big $$ fines. Anyways, enjoy and Y'all come back now !
Hey. Thanks for the great comments. As always, I am a responsible boater. One of us is always without a beer when we are boating. We are a big safety advocates, and understand the risks that boaters who are impaired pose on waterways and hope never to be that person.
We actually bought fishing licenses through the Ontario website portal. The only downside was that we had to buy season fishing licenses because we were there for longer than the one week ones. I never mind paying for fishing licenses and other associated recreational fees since they always go to good causes.
New subscriber here. Thanks for the video. I love the ranger tugs and hope to do a trip like this someday. Do you have a video on a trip cost with fuel and moreing?
Wow - an excellent video tour of the lower Trent waterway with a lot of interesting history as well - thank you all involved!
Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks so much. It’s a lot of fun putting the videos together. It takes a little bit of work but glad you enjoyed it.

Also, the Otonabee is pronounced oh-tawn-ă-bee.
