Thank You so much bro!!!!! I did what you said and IT WORKED!!!!! I bought my 08' with around 80k miles like 4-5 years ago. I never had any problems with it except having to replace the alternator. Then one day it just went into limp mode and gave the misfire code. I replaced the spark plugs, and replaced all 4 coil packs, no luck. Then I started looking for answers on the internet and found your video. I ordered an OEM starter and swapped it out. I then took it to a shop I found with good reviews on Yelp, and asked them to please perform the CPU to crank position sensor RELEARN. They said I should start with a compression test. They said they have seen this problem many times. Said they have replaced cylinder and piston and it didn't fix it. Said they even have had to REPLACE THE WHOLE ENGINE!!! I asked them very politely if they could please do the RELEARN first, and if it didn't work we could discuss further options. They charged me $80 to run diagnostics, and $160 to do the RELEARN. Sure enough they called me later and said the misfire was gone and the car is now running fine. You saved me so much money and SO MUCH STRESS AND HEADACHE!! THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you! I owned 2008 Accord and I was getting code P0339, P0300, P302, and P0303, The first code I got was the P0339. I replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) with a aftermarket brand and was still getting the code and sometimes I would get a check engine light. So I ignored and kept driving the car. I later end up getting a flashing red check engine light and the engine misfire codes P0339, P0300, P302, and P0303. So Installed a different brand Crankshaft Position Sensor, replaced the engine Coils, replaced Spark plugs. Still did not fix the problem. Watched this video and installed a remanufactured Honda OEM starter and had a mechanic did a CKP relearn with his scanner software and that seemed to fix the issue and cleared the code and checked engine light.
Thank you so much for this information! I had changed the starter in June with a local mechanic. Now in November, my car began to misfire. On Wednesday, I attempted to drive to get coffee but then when I got to the corner of my street, my car began to struggle and get “lobby” and the check engine light began to flash. Since I was in the corner of my house, I drove it back home slowly since the car refused to rev over 10 and it began to smell. On Saturday, I had to get my car towed to a local Honda dealership because my car could not physically move. My BIL sent me your video the day before and he was certain that it was the starter and that I had to do cpk relearn. Additionally, I checked the night before and the P0339, P0300, P302, and P0303 codes came up. I left this information out from the dealership but 2 hours later they informed me of all those codes and that the misfiring was caused by the aftermarket starter, just as stated in this video. 1K later and they replaced with a genuine Honda starter and reprogrammed PCM and now my car is fine. An expensive mistake that I had to learn. If I would’ve known, I would have have gone with a genuine Honda starter to begin with
Sorry you had to experience this, it’s a very expensive mistake, but glad it’s all back to normal now. This is deff an oddball one that through me for a loop the first time o came across it.
I'm dealing with this issue now. Replaced the starter after it went out on my then gf and this was roughly four to five months ago and she started having the same issues that are being stated here and I've gotten the exact same codes stated here also. I'm currently sitting in the car trying to figure out why I'm still getting misfire after replacing the sparks just now and now I know the potential reason
@@qkp01 I’m sorry this happened to you. Yes, I believe you definitely need a genuine starter. This is something so odd that happens specifically with 2008-2012 Honda accords
Thanks guys it worked i just did a crank sensor relearn the car is back to normal .. A mechanic told me a needed a new engine youtube saved me from a wrong diagnosis 😅😅😅
I own two Hondas a 99 Accord EXL 3.0 with 60k miles and an 07 Odyssey with 70k miles and l know OEM parts cost more but here is an excellent example of why I use OEM Honda parts. I take care of both vehicles myself and they take of me. Thanks for sharing your videos and Honda knowledge. Great channel 😊🇺🇸
I had same issue after using an aftermarket starter. Replaced the aftermarket starter with a honda starter from the dealership was 335 plus tax came out to 360 and change. Had my friend put that in and do a crankshaft camshaft relearn and its fixed.
@@BCautosolutions thanks man you saved me alot of time money and frustration because no mechanics around here in Syracuse, NY knew what i was dealing with and just thought i had to replace the sensor but glad i found this video before i ended up going through thier trial and errors. 💪
Great video. I have put an aftermarket starter in my accord a few years ago and today for P0300, P0302, P0303 codes. Before even checking the codes (wish I would have) I replaced one of the spark plugs that was visually bad. Started her up and have those three codes. Could it be the starter after being in there for a few years? I planned to take it to a mechanic in a few days for a diagnostic but I'd hate for them to spend hours on it for it to be an aftermarket starter.
I had the same issue I took it to the Honda dealer they replaced my starter since it was aftermarket it cost me 1k but now my car starts properly and drives smooth. Thanks for the video
Thank for the video have the same codes put when the check engine light flash it won't pass 3000 rpm .. changing the starter would it fixed the problem ?
Yeah I know, I still have to explain this to people and shops who bring the car to me to get it repaired after they spent 100s or 1000s of dollars. Luckily I have this video for evidence and then the are kind of more accepting of it (sometimes lol)
@@BCautosolutions the first time I came across that problem, I inherited it from another tech who moved out of the country. I called up Honda tech line and they explained to me that the pcm thinks the key is being held in the starting position. The the timing retards and intermittently sticks which is the reason you can’t feel the misfire. 18 years as a master tech for Honda and that by far is the craziest problem I’ve ever encountered. It’s a problem that’s created and would’ve been better if the started just went out and wouldn’t start the vehicle. But yeah, a lot of money and parts thrown at it for a simple fix and I get it. It’s hard to diag.
@@vastaire81 100% first time I came across it I was stumped. Techline was actually helpful (one of the few times lol) and pointed me in the right direction. I couldn’t believe it.
@@BCautosolutions The $570 Mitsuba is a bit stronger than the aftermarket starters. The cheaper starters don't crank the engine fast enough which is what trips the code for the crank position sensor. I dealt with this issue immediately after purchasing my Accord. Tried to drive it with the CEL.flashing and got it stuck in limp mode. I didn't have any money to have it fixed, so I searched all over the net for a fix and ended up finding the TSB for the PGM FI software update. Ended up borrowing the money to pay the dealership to update the software and it didn't fix the issue. I learned a few days later that the Crank Pattern Relearn procedure gets the car out of limp mode. I didn't own a scan tool at the time, but I discovered a way to do it manually without needing a scan tool. I noticed that when it has a long crank, don't hold the key for any longer than a second or two. Release it then try again. It will start after a few tries. The CEL only gets activated when you hold the key too long. The long cranks have wore out 3 starters in 3 years, but the Ultima brand I picked up at O'Reilly's was only $100 brand new and came with a lifetime warranty. So I replace it myself about once a year but O'Reilly's takes my old one back and hands me a new one for free.
If it has an aftermarket starter, replace that then perform a ckp sensor relearn. Obviously do this at your own risk I can only offer my opinion on what it needs and you should always local professional diagnosis.
I bought a 2012 Accord with 192k has had front end damage prior and has PO304 cylinder 4 misfire, won't rev above 3k barely moves itself. Plugs and coil packs look to have been replaced. I tried replacing #4 plug & cp with new, no change.. Do you think this is the issue? Thank you.
What is the name of the OBD 2 Reader you have ? Do you have to pay every year to used it .? If you don't pay will it work still ? How about Updates if you don't updates will it still work ? Does it check Compression for the SparkPlugs ? Does it check Fuel Pressure like Injectors Fuel Pump ,Fuel Pressure Regulators ? I need one like that .I also have a Misfire issue in my 2001 Toyota Canry 4Cylinder i have 3 Cylinder Misfire 1 2 3 i bought new Injectors News coils Plus and new wires New fuel pressure regulators Still misfires .
I saw a service bulletin about this issue “Honda TSB 09-050”. Honda recommends updating the ECU program. Do you know what the latest program P/N is for a 4 cyl 2.4 L 2012 Accord A/T? Is it 37805-40-A830? It would really help me out! Thank you!
I just had mine pop up with these codes as well as with the crankshaft position sensor code. We have already replaced the crankshaft position sensor, and the starter not too long ago. I’m guessing it’s the ignition coils? Maybe a faulty CPS?
My starter was replaced about 2 years ago or so and I’m pretty sure they used an aftermarket one. Now a couple weeks ago this started happening so I changed the spark plugs and it went away. Now it started again so you think it would be because of the starter?
Nuevo suscritor amigo muy buena información una pregunta tengo un honda acord 2011 con esos códigos le cambie ckp genérico anduvo bien un mes será k tengo k comprarle el del deller de honda el original ckp y aserle el reaprendisaje
I've been looking for this exact infor thanks man! Had similar codes only under acceleration swapped coils, sparks, injectors from a good engine on a tsx couldn't figure it out for the life of me.
so i have the same problem. But I'm in a bit of a different pickle which I would appreciate your input on. Sorry for the really long post, but I want to make sure I describe my situation for clear picture. The problem described here is what happened to me 6 months (Dec 2020) after I had to replace my OEM starter ( OEM starter died july 2020). Went to an auto shop instead of dealer (to save money as I am a full-time medical student with $0 / income). Shop put in aftermarket starter. (still cost me $500 out the door) Dec 2020- cold start is fine, but short drives (lets say from cold start to the nearest gas station --> turn off car --> fill up gas --> turn it back on = long crank at the end of which this problem arises. took it to another auto-shop (once again to save money) and replaced crankshaft position sensor (Cause that was one of the codes popping up so swapped that but mechanic didn't do any relearn or anything, probably wasn't knowledgeable imo). He used a Denso made crankshaft sensor ( idk if that's the OEM or aftermarket , most likely latter). Didn't solve the problem, took it to Honda dealership they did the following: "DTC's P0302, P0303. Monitored misfire data with HONDA HDS, no engine misfires detected (suspect false misfires, also found aftermarket starter installed recently). OBS data shows misfires recorded on warm engine start up duration 15-16 seconds. Performed ECM/PCM reset, IDLE learn and CKP memory clear and CKP learning procedure. Fuel sample inspected for water and contaminants - clear. Passed Leak down test. May need to replace starter with factory OEM unit" - fixed the problem June 2021 - 6 months later same problem, cold start -> left cousin's place, and headed for gas station to fill up gas -> and once again long crank, and then same problem, lost 75% of power, eventually going into limp mode (same thing first time as well) - > took it to honda this time, they did the same / following: "Found cam sensor and misfire codes present again, vehicle has aftermarket starter. Recommend replacing with factory starter. Aftermarket turns flywheel too slow triggering fault codes present. Performed ECM/PCM reset, IDLE learn and CKP memory clear and CKP learning procedure" So I am convinced its the starter. So while the car is working fine right now, i have PTSD and avoid making any short trips if I can anticipate having to turn off my car 5-10 mins into the first cold start of the day. So i have decided to swap the aftermarket with OEM using my savings. Ordered honda OEM starter from Majestic Honda (to save money on markup at dealership). and am looking now into having a mechanic replace it. (Honda quotes me 1000/ before taxes) to replace starter! But after seeing this, I want your opinion, do I need to do CKP relearn and all the things Honda did both times if I replace my starter while the car is working fine and not firing any of these codes? If you read this far , thank you for taking the time to read my cry for help and I appreciate any input you can offer. My school is very demanding and I am heavily reliant on a fully functioning car without any issues. But things have been far from that this past year. Edit: Initially in Dec, based on tips and suggestions from some "car" friends, tried to chase misfire - checking for bad coils, but it didn't change. But I still went ahead and replaced all 4 spark plugs. I have also ordered along with the starter this week, 2 ignition OEM coils to replace for cylinders 2 and 3. Just in case coils are what causing this.
Hello there well I’m sorry your unfortunately going through this but seems like you have a good head on your shoulder and I think your making a good choice by using the dealer but shipping around for best oem price. At this point I would make sure everything is oem, plugs, coils, starter, and ckp sensor. After having those all oem yes a ckp clear and relearn is essential. As smart as engine control units are, they are dumb at the same time and pick up bad habits (misfires) and assume them as almost a normal sequence. So yes replace anything you have installed aftermarket, then go to bonda and ask for ckp clear and relearn. Keep me posted and wish you luck 👍🏻
@@BCautosolutions thank you for your swift response and kind compliment. I get a headache everytime i try to reread my own lengthy posts. I can only imagine how boring it must me for others to sift through. I was also looking into replacing the starter myself, I feel the more times I watch starter replacement videos and deconstructing the youtube video into a step by step list to follow, the less daunting its becoming. I'm thinking of trying to figure out all the parts I need and try to see how much it'll be on harborfreight (3rd time I've heard a recommendation for it). Someone mentioned on the accord forum that I probably will also need a new gasket for a intake manifold. Would you agree? All the youtube videos I've seen on starter replacement haven't mentioned this. I haven't looked at price for a new gasket but I'm assuming and hoping it's relatively cost economic. Thank you for providing your input and expertise for nothing but altruism. God bless your soul!
@@customerreview9853 hey, doing it yourself is deff achievable just be extra careful around rhe knock sensor. So I don’t change the gasket because it’s metal but wouldn’t hurt especially given that the manifold has been out a few times.
Hello I am having the same exact experience! Changed my starter it was 800$ job, and now a few months down the road i am having crankshaft problems. I have no idea what to do I changed the crankshaft and still have the problem. Come to find out the starter can be the cause of it all. Can you give any updates on if the problem stopped and what you did to get to that point. I’m stressing beyond belief. A single mom on a single mom budget
It is important the information your giving about the started had to do with misfire, but my self I questioned how can the starter has to do any thing with misfire? I know this started is permanent magnet but what actually do the started ? Does it draw too much amps, or does it leak current , what causes the misfire , how this interfere with what coil, injectors , or some magnetic fiel that affect the signal of the computer?
I have a 2009 Accord, i had to replace the original starter with an aftermarket starter, it worked pretty well for a week but suddenly my car began to struggle and wont rev over 20 with check engine light blinking, i had to replace the original crankshaft sensor for an aftermarket one as well and i still have the same problem with my car...I really have to order OEM HONDA starter and crankshaft sensor?
My car 09 Accord has long crank (sometimes, rarely) and then misfire. I also have an aftermarket starter. Could this be the problem? Starter is drawing a little too much power on startup, but not much (10% more than average)
For sure, aftermarket starters cause all sorts of issues. I would replace with Honda starter abs make sure you do a ckp relearn. If you still have misfires I would proceed with normal troubleshooting
What about alternators. My daughter has an 2010 pilot and a month ago she had the timing belt and alternator replaced. I’m sure it’s an aftermarket alternator and the check engine light just started flashing. Could their be a connection using an aftermarket alternator? Just wondering your thoughts on the issue. Thanks for listening and any possible tips. She is in Virginia and I’m up here so I can only give advice. Her husband is in no way mechanically inclined. Thanks buddy 😊
What’s going on Artie, although aftermarket stuff usually isn’t ideal, I don’t mind a better quality alternator. Being that the check engine light is flashing that indicates a misfire that’s actually damaging the cat. I would look at the plugs and coils. I believe the 2010 fell into the oil consumption scenario and if the plugs are foiled most likely will need piston rings. Best of luck
my 06 tsx is doing the same thing, during winters the starter gets really lazy when crank and the p0303 come on within 5min after start, when warm weather somedays the ce light come on sometimes days pass with nothing, light does not flashes but same code. i do have a cheap am starter but it has lasted about 5years. i guess ill try with an oem to see if fixes the problem. thanks
My TH-cam search led me to this video after I had the misfires. Took it to the Honda dealership and they did their initial diagnostic and confirmed the misfires, and then they determined that they’d need to do the more expensive diag ($500 plus)-the compression test and leak down test and stuff. I told the guy that I had an aftermarket starter and he simply said yes he’d heard of that, but they don’t know that that’s the problem for sure. I decided to just drive home slowly to ponder a few days. Meantime I bought me a car from Carvana. Just after my dang trial period is up a couple of months ago, I start up the accord and take it for a spin with NO MISFIRES! I drive it once a week or so now to keep it going. I’m guessing the problem is still there and will probably manifest itself again if I haven’t dumped the car soon. But has anyone else experienced the problem going away?
Yeah the misfires will be back. Mine stopped for a week after not driving it for a month. But the misfires started back after a little while. I had this same issue right after replacing my starter with an aftermarket one. But good luck
Hi I just bought a 2010 Honda Accord and I'm having the exact same issues which is Limp mode and misfires on P0302 & P0303. I'm having a mechanic looking at it and he's saying that I need a starter. He's going to order the part tomorrow on Monday. So what you're saying is that I should tell my mechanic to purchase a OEM Honda Starter instead of a cheaper aftermarket one???
I'm also having an issue with my engine revs being slightly higher then usually and sometimes when I'm driving in First gear my gear won't shift into second gear. So then I have to slow down or put it in neutral then put it back into drive with the revs below 2 and then it catches. My mechanic is getting the correct ECM/ECU because he's saying that the last mechanic put in the wrong one. Do you think that this will resolve this issue because recently I had a newer engine replaced so I'm hoping that this new ECM/ECU will communicate well with the engine and the Transmission. Any other advice on this issue????
Have you checked compression and did leak down test? Possible you can have a mechanical issue. Also a valve clearance check/adjustment wouldn’t be a bad idea. 2.4 or 3.0?
@@BCautosolutions I just did valve clearance on all of them.my bad didn't put that on list.. But no Haven't done compression test yet but car runs beautiful only does vibration vibration or misfire at 1800-2500rpm. Should do it though huh. I'm a big dummy.
After beating my head against the wall, changing multiple sensors and doing factory service manual troubleshooting this helped me out a ton! Thank You! My 09 accord has the same codes and it’s in limp mode. I replaced the crankshaft sensor and no luck. Now I’m leaning towards buying the OEM Honda Starter. What do you recommend?
Having the same issue on a 2009 accord with a aftermarket starter. Does this issue only happen upon startup? My issue didnt happen until about 3K miles after having the starter replaced, and the misfire never happens upon start up. The issue is intermittent for me. The misfire never happens during startup and always happens while im driving. My mechanic seems to be at a total loss. He has replaced the ignition coil and cleared the codes, and the car will run great for 10-50 miles, and then while driving the CEL will start blinking and the misfire will start again. I tried to show them this video and they are telling me that this is a different issue then the one im having. They are telling me the issue you are describing is not intermittent and the misfire is happening upon startup, while on mine the misfire isnt happening upon startup and is happening while im driving.
Yes they are correct sounds like a different issue. He needs to log the car when it starts to misfire to see what’s causing it. If it counts misfires slowly on accel let’s say it won’t go into limp mode until it detects x amount of misfires
I'm having problems with the misfire code, but it's really intermittent. I did put in an aftermarket starter, but the problem with misfiring did not start immediately. Now, some days it drives perfectly., Other days, it won't drive over 20 mph. It's probably worth replacing the starter with a Honda starter. I have noticed that the starter makes a strange noise. I already replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I think doing that just narrowed the problem down to something electrical. Will I have to take it to a mechanic to do the CPK relearn?
Really depends. If it’s not isolated to cylinders 2 and 3 it’s most likely another issue. Being that it’s no constant I’m most likely lean towards a coil/plug
Thank you for the video, it gave me more insight of possibilities, So what if I am getting pcm codes as well as misfire codes and the starter is the original one that came with the car?? I’ve read so many different things trying to pinpoint which route would actually solve this problem. Even without changing the spark plugs and coils around, I realized the misfires isn’t just the same cylinder every time and actually misfires In random ones. This has to be a computer problem right cuz the starter is still oem?
It could be many things but at that point I would highly question fuel quality as well as a possible mechanical issue with the engine itself. It’s just to broad of a question without any real data.
I have a 2017 Honda accord misfiring on cylinder 3 changed all the spark plug and coil paks and its still reading a miss fire...do anyone know what can be the cause?

Still have to replace vct actuator and possibly timing chain to get rid of grinding after cold starts. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!
Check the crank sensor and make sure it’s Honda, while you are there take a flash light and look at the crank trigger through the hole of the crank sensor (sensor has to be out) I’ve seen on a few occasions where if has 1-2 bend teeth. If the teeth are bent you can try to bend them back or it may be time to replace the wheel (requires tearing apart the engine) or might be time for a used engine. Have you replaced the battery? Once the starter is replaced usually the battery needs to be replaced at the very least it needs to be fully charged. Jump starting it won't charge it fully. Its tricky if the battery voltage isn't right the code is triggered

Thats super odd, typically with a misfire under load it’s something in the ignition system. How do you know it’s misfiring? It throws a code or you feel it and see it counting?
Hey just wanted to thank you I changed the starter unfortunately had to get a after market, I'll replacebit with a certified Honda this spring. My Honda Launch scanner came in today. It did clear and relearned the ckp. No more blink engine. Thanks a lot. Just watched your maintenance video im try to get some those points knocked out soon as possible but thanks a lot.
@@BCautosolutions I just got done replacing starter. Dont have a scan tool available at the moment. Do I need a scan tool to do a ckp relearn? 08 accord 2.4 lxp. Do I need to pull my ecu fuse? Looked at all three fuse box no label for ecu fuse.
Super happy my video was able to help you out and save you further headaches, time, and money. 👍🏻👍🏻
Yep, also drive me absolutely insane the first time I had the issue lol.
Just replaced the auto zone starter with Honda oem starter, still misfired. Did the relearn and we are a go. Perfect! Thanks for this video.
Awesome! Happy to be of service.
How or where I go to do the relearn

Great video. I have put an aftermarket starter in my accord a few years ago and today for P0300, P0302, P0303 codes. Before even checking the codes (wish I would have) I replaced one of the spark plugs that was visually bad. Started her up and have those three codes. It’s crazy how this only happens on the 8th gen 4 cylinder accord. It’s hard trying to explain this to people who think they have it figured out.
So I replace it myself about once a year but O'Reilly's takes my old one back and hands me a new one for free.

so i have the same problem. (still cost me $500 out the door)
Dec 2020- cold start is fine, but short drives (lets say from cold start to the nearest gas station --> turn off car --> fill up gas --> turn it back on = long crank at the end of which this problem arises. took it to another auto-shop (once again to save money) and replaced crankshaft position sensor (Cause that was one of the codes popping up so swapped that but mechanic didn't do any relearn or anything, probably wasn't knowledgeable imo). He used a Denso made crankshaft sensor ( idk if that's the OEM or aftermarket , most likely latter). Didn't solve the problem, took it to Honda dealership they did the following:
"DTC's P0302, P0303. Monitored misfire data with HONDA HDS, no engine misfires detected (suspect false misfires, also found aftermarket starter installed recently). OBS data shows misfires recorded on warm engine start up duration 15-16 seconds. Performed ECM/PCM reset, IDLE learn and CKP memory clear and CKP learning procedure. Fuel sample inspected for water and contaminants - clear. Passed Leak down test. May need to replace starter with factory OEM unit" - fixed the problem
June 2021 - 6 months later same problem, cold start -> left cousin's place, and headed for gas station to fill up gas -> and once again long crank, and then same problem, lost 75% of power, eventually going into limp mode (same thing first time as well) - > took it to honda this time, they did the same / following:
"Found cam sensor and misfire codes present again, vehicle has aftermarket starter. Recommend replacing with factory starter. Aftermarket turns flywheel too slow triggering fault codes present. Performed ECM/PCM reset, IDLE learn and CKP memory clear and CKP learning procedure"
So I am convinced its the starter.
Yes you do
My car 09 Accord has long crank (sometimes, rarely) and then misfire.
I understand the interference while cranking, but why the ckp issues and misfires when running when starter is disengaged

Could a aftermarket starter with a heat shield work? That is If aftermarket starters are more prone to heat soak which causes the interruption?
It’s the cheap brushes in my opinion that is the issue
Yeah that’s a weird situation you have there I would definitely assume the misfires will be back, kind of whacky how it stopped tho
Yeah the misfires will be back. Mine stopped for a week after not driving it for a month. But the misfires started back after a little while. I had this same issue right after replacing my starter with an aftermarket one. But good luck

Will I have to take it to a mechanic to do the CPK relearn?

i have a 2012 honda accord ex 2.4 cyl with aftermarket starter.. im getting the same exact codes p0300 301 302... i changed all coils, all spark plugs, all fuel injectors myself but still same codes and misfires. .. i was going to change the crankshaft nxt but im guessing a honda brand starter it is and crankshaft lol
Yup, tons of people go down the rabbit whole which is exactly why I made the video.
Thank goodness for this video I'm having same problems too ! I replaced my start with an aftermarket for 240 bucks on November 14 and the car won't start since November 28 -_- n was experiencing random misfires code po300 po304 po302. Check fues n relays . I got a new battery n alternator on September n tune up like may or so. But now my car won't start 😭 I really hope this helps my car I don't want to sell my car I just paid it off

just fixed mine,I bought a autel MP808 for $599 on Black Friday , now $750. I did a ckp clear and ckp re learn and car runs great. All miss fires gone I cleared all codes and didn’t replace one part. Going to drive for alittle to see if it comes back if so I’m replacing aftermarket starter with OEM.

@@BCautosolutions thanks for the response. I'm dealing with misfire from cylinder 2 and 3 after I changed the crankshaft positioning sensor.
I told the guy at the rebuid shop this situation and he said no way its the starter so i bought a crankshaft position sensor and 2 coils snd wheel speed sensor and still getting code 83-1 replaced starter last month aftermarket im pretty sure
My car read PO302 code and is in limp mode I do have a aftermarket starter, will this also cause limp mode?
If it’s only a p0302 code then most likely it’s isolated to that actual cylinder. For example a coil, spark plug, injector, etc…
I'm having this issue so I replace the 302 303 igtion coils and all 4 spark plugs then a week later the same code came up...and I do have aftermarket starter so all I need do it is get Honda starter or do I need start all over again??

Does the crankshaft position sensor have to be OEM Honda too? Or only the starter? I’m having a hard time finding an OEM crankshaft position sensor
We have trouble sometimes with aftermarket sensors. If you can get it to learn and behave appropriately, I would get an aftermarket one.
How can you perform relearn manually ?
Drive to 30-40 mph and let the car slow down naturally. Do it a few times fully warmed up

No, doesn’t apply to you car. Chances are coil/plug, injector, or valve clearance issue on yours.

Have to have the crank position relearned
Going trough the same issue after installing new Ultima brand POS.
Did you end up installing a new Honda one?
@@BCautosolutions I doing it a bit crazy way: got original never removed starter off the same year car at the junk yard , and installed new brushes taken form reman starter at the same yard. th-cam.com/video/mMzYJzHJt8A/w-d-xo.html. Interestingly enough, many re-manufactured starters have only brushes changed , painted with $1 paint and packed in the very nice boxes. What else is a possible solution is it the crank sensor ?
So this is the sequence of events:
-Car doesn’t start gets aftermarket starter installed
- after some time the car starts throwing missfire and crank codes
-many attempt repairs are made including plugs, and crank sensor
-car finally gets looked at, new oem starter gets replaced and possibly new Honda crank sensor with crank relearn procedure.
I have never seen a bad crank sensor on these engines (k24) but if it has been replaced at any point by an aftermarket one I would get a Honda one in there. What I have seen is the crank sensor wheel/trigger have bent teeth on 2 seperate occasions.
Hope this helps
What is the honda starter manufacturer denso

Still have to replace vct actuator and possibly timing chain to get rid of grinding after cold starts. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!

Which state are you in

It is solved just by replacing the starter or you have to do something with the scanner
9 out of 10 times the ckp telearn must be done with a scanner
Put on after market starter
30 days are so later engine lights pop on codes misfires, car goes into limp mode.
Yep, sounds about right. The crazy part is, it isn’t immediately so nobody ever makes the connection.
I put a Honda starter in and I'm still getting the code 339. Please help and yes a relearn was done.
Rhe possibilites are endless and could be time for a professional to have the car diagnosed at this point. Best of luck
Have you replaced the battery? Once the starter is replaced usually the battery needs to be replaced at the very least it needs to be fully charged. Jump starting it won't charge it fully. Its tricky if the battery voltage isn't right the code is triggered
@@BCautosolutions l am just seeing this comment. I took it to a professional and what they did was use non Honda parts. Does an aftermarket starter only affect #2 and 3 cyls? Or can it also affect #1 and 4 cyls? The misfires are only on #1 and 4. 2 and 3 are fine.

Did you have a ckp sensor error code?
Can’t remember on this particular car but at times yes it can set it. If you still have the p0339 code after starter is changed and ckp is relearned I would check for cheap aftermarket sensor as people will replace it thinking that’s the initial issue.
You need the software upgrade from the stealership and it has to be the expensive Honda starter
@@jeanjacque1577 you don’t need a software update. Better quality aftermarket starters don’t seem to be nearly as problematic.
