Wow, how good is that idea! This really should be marketed internationally. Segway should be in on this. Sooo many people could really benefit. So much "cooler" than the average electric wheelchair.

and 3 years later we are still waiting for them to be affordable.
Thank you for your message. We like all companies in this market are working hard to create a range of affordable solutions. In the coming years, like LED TVs, as volume increases we will be able to reduce the prices but development costs and total manufacturing costs including the Segway restrict what we can do. The biggest cost is the Segway so as they reduce their prices we can pass that on.

Thank you for your kind reply Mike, im sure you realise how many of us would love to be using your amazing technology but cannot. Maybe the answer is to look at funding being available in the same way as it is for scooters and wherlchairs from other institutions? Certainly in the UK it is likely that most rnd users will be in receipt of high rate mobility allowance and like me are unable to drive, some finance companies allow that income to be considered as sufficient to cover finance repayments for orthopeadic beds and other disability aids etc. Maybe you could look to a finance company who may consider an appropriate package. Certainly if you look at a Nippy for example as a buyer although they are not covered on motability schemes they did have a finance package available from a company for anyone who qualified for the DLA award. Maybe that could work for your sales in many ways? Maybe try someone like a smaller finance company or someone like Dave Fishwick to underwrite it. Just a thought.

Thank you for your feedback, we are currently looking at how we can supply the UK market later in 2017. We need to ensure we can provide service and support as well a package of financing. We have spoken to a few finance companies. Once we are in the UK I hope that you find the pricing OK.

Ok thank you Mike, i assumed you were UK based, in that case much of what i said about motability etc may not be very clear. Anyone in the UK who is unable to walk 20 meters or less unaided is able to apply for a Personal Independance Payment (PIP). This is a guaranteed 4 weekly sum of around £255 paid directly into their bank account as a net payment to cover mobility expenses. They can choose to join a scheme called Motability who will lease a car, scooter or wheelchair and take the payment direct from the benefit payment. Other companies outside of the approved Motability scheme will provide finance on the basis that they know that regardless of any other income the 4 weekly payment is guaranteed and that it is therefore very unlikely that they will get non payers regardless of the applicants income. Details of these benefits/schemes can be found at .gov.uk sites. But if i can help in anyway by explaining any of this further or forwarding more information in the future please feel free to contact me and i will be delighted to help in anyway i can. I have regular contact with my MP or member of the UK Parliament and Lucy Allen and she is always very keen to assist her disabled constituents by using her considerable contacts and influence.Friends in high places can be helpful and the goverment is about as high as it gets.
I would also add that anything i can do to assist you would be my pleasure and without any cost to you whatsoever, i do quite a lot of voluntary assistance and mobility for the disabled is always a cause that will get my help if needed.

The seat is available in America, overpriced, at $7000, another basic seat at $1400. None of these will sell until they're priced closer to $2000 to $3000.
