+you suck the problem is that volvo trucks are for rookies who cant drive. such as urself. your conventional trucks look like tiny cars that get no respect. even a child knows what a classic truck looks like before he can even say daddy. your problem is u wouldnt know the first thing about driving a classic pete. and u said it....they look like trains..
BigTymin while the classics look nice, they are technological relics. The paccar brands even realized this and are slowly copying the Volvo - aerodynamics, driver comfort, ease of operation, fuel economy, emissions, etc.

in the uk we have 460 500 540 610 750 bph my dad pulls 44 ton with a 460 without the t cab nonsense it's probably a lot lighter and it pulls like a train in the UK we have 2 seats leather and a bet with 2 cupboard under 1 fridge one storage we have a few overhead lockers which are great 😄😄😄😄
+Aled Morris we get 600hp dd15 as well rare since mostly the usa has more ground to clear so comfort is more important then hp unless you live up north with the hills. i do envy the hp euro trucks get but you have to envy us for the interior space. most usa trucks are small Apartments

I've driven 3 trucks as a truck driver. A.) 2001 Kenworth W900L, CAT 3406E engine, Eaton Fuller 13 speed transmission. B.) 2012 Volvo, D13 engine, Eaton Fuller 13 speed transmission. and most currently a 2015 Volvo 780, D13 engine, Eaton Fuller 12 speed automated. as far as towing goes, the Kenworth beat both trucks hands down. the 2012 Volvo had both towing ability and comfort, which is a good combo. it got up to speed quickly also. the new 2015, is basically only comfort. towing ability plain sucks. I was pulling a half loaded trailer up a 5% grade and it had to downshift 4 times just to keep from stalling. The Kenworth could pull a full loaded flatbed up a 15% grade and I would downshift maybe once. automated transmissions also shift and downshift through every gear, no matter the load weight, which adds a lot of time to take-off. in the manuals, drivers have the option to shift how they want to. example with a 13 speed on a full load, the driver can utilize all 13 gears but on empty or bobtailing, the driver could shift like an 8 speed or even skip more gears and only use like 6 or something.

Before integrated electronic engines, Volvo trucks had the standard Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine, capable of 600 HP and 2,000 ft-lbs of torque. In 2010, Volvo developed the D13 engine (which is not to be confused with the DD13 made by Detroit Diesel). rated 445 HP and 1650 ft-lbs of torque, which is impressive but compared to other brands like Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar and Cummins, is not very good. Not even that, but their transmissions also. Volvo used to run Eaton Fuller which made 8, 10, 13, 15 deep reduction, and 18 speed transmissions. In 2013 Volvo cut Eaton Fuller and developed the I-shift 12 speed automated transmission, which is even worse. I prefer the volvo fh 16 750 xxl . His driving is accurate and comfortable.Its gearbox is second to none in the market not to mention its 750 hp .
