extremerocker45 I thought I was the only one that thought he looked like one of the beatles too but yes, I would love to have him grow those bangs out again. XD
John Oliver is just plain great. I like his new show, even if his first episode spent the first ten minutes shitting on my state of Oregon. I only wish it were on more than once a week.
I don't think that's possible. A ridiculous amount of research is done to prepare for each episode. It's different from Jon Stewart where it's presumably improvisation.
Napoleon Bonaparte That would be a mistake, I think. I think at half an hour, it is the right length. He doesn't get commercial breaks and he doesn't have a guest on every show, so he has to keep going for most of the full 30 minute run of his show. He's done well so far, but I don't know if he could manage an hour.
Katie Schueler - Well, Katie... That's the sort of existential question that buggers the minds of French philosophers, who could've paid their rent if they had a real job. Might as well ask if you're a girl dreaming you're butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming that you're a girl? In the end, it doesn't matter. Reality is whatever you perceive it to be, based on your brain's interpretation of stimuli from your senses, then filtered through your intellect.
I love John Oliver, he takes the piss out of nearly everyone and still makes them laugh as he does it. As a Brit I'm glad Piers Morgan isn't the only one we have in 'murica.
Except we don't just have one stupid one...we have entire organizations that are this stupid... *cough* Fox News *cough cough* *cough* CNN *cough cough* ...I guess I better get that cold looked at.
Brits in the US come in two kinds. Kind A consists of John Oliver: funny, trustworthy, and beloved. Kind B consists of Piers Morgan and Stuart Varney: egomaniacal bitches who people would line up to kick in the groin if the US mainstream media didn't exist in its current structure today.
Patrick Stewart's done some very nice work over the years. I wasn't crazy about him in Star Trek, but that's more of a writing issue than his acting, methinks... the whole "We could help these people, but it would be bad because reasons!" schtick gets reeeeally old. I like him better as the narrator of Sims Medieval... or as John Oliver.^^

Tbh he was quite shit over here- I don't know what changed. I would guess working with Jon Stewart all those years made him find his voice, but he's brilliant now.
The USA leads in political satire now. We just don't have much of it in the UK anymore (other than HIGNFY). Love John Oliver, brilliant guy. But real credit goes to Stewart. He launched so many careers.
I love how halfway through the human mike chant the policeman and spectators in the background joined in on Jon's chant! "Is everything people find annoying" 😂😂
You have just finished all of Last Week Tonight's videos and you're looking for more John Oliver. Well i'm afraid you won't find much. So sorry my friends.
“Taxation is theft” *government abolishes tax* “ what the fuck is with all these potholes in the road? Why in the fuck is the emergency room closed? Where has my country gone”
Although we Brits didn't really see much of John initially once he strted The Bugle with Andy Zalzman I loved him. He also led me to Mr Stewart so for that I'm very grateful. Great new show too. Pity comedy central you tube subscription isn't possible in UK.
John Oliver is a freaking legend. Even back then he stole the show; and now since he has his own show he still steals the show with his honest political comedy.
Man, the old daily show was amazing. The old Colbert Report was too. I need a combination of Colbert's monologue + Seth's Closer Look + Fallon's skits to make up for them now.
How could you not have included his hilarious bit as "Sir Archibald Mapsalot the Third"???? Possibly his greatest daily show moment xD Well either it or the Carlos Danger dance xD And NEITHER got on his best bits????
Then he'd've, at best, been stuck hosting a show that forces an interview into every episode, and doesn't seem to have quite as free a format for the host to spend up to a half hour comedically ranting about a topic.
Yeah I like his new show better than if he got TDS. Since Jon left they don't seem to even bother with political interviews anymore or having all that many real journalists on. Always random TV stars and celebs. Might as well be watching Fallon :/
@@sillygoose635 I can't say for sure, of course, but I believe strongly that is not the majority opinion. Jon is an icon. Trevor's show is fine, he's gotten much better since I posted this comment especially in his desk pieces, he is competing with Meyers for best in Late Night at those imo (Not including John Oliver, because he gets so much more room to work on his desk pieces) but Trevor's show still fails with the interview portion a lot of the time imo. They are rarely as hard hitting and influential as Jon's were, simply because Trevor doesn't have nearly so many politicians/journalists on the show, he still oftentimes favours celebrities and "fun" interviews. Not saying there's a problem with that, it's just not how TDS used to be under Jon. Those times Trevor does have political figures/journalists on his show though, he does do a fantastic job in my eyes, so I can't understand why he leans away from it.
i actually belive things have ended up better as they are, john has his own show, which gives him much more freedom to do as he pleased, while trevor does a diferent take that fits much better for the tds. sure, he isnt for everyone, but i trully belive john wouldnt work out as well as the tds host as he does on hbo.
I just started watching the Daily Show, so I've never seen John Oliver on this show. I love him though, he's hilarious on this show too, obviously. "Can you be more general?"
He is, I read it somewhere, I believe it's on Comedy Central, now that The Nightly Show got cancelled, I believe Jordan will take that spot. I'd rather have him take over The Daily Show, I don't find Trevor Noah very funny.
"Can you be more generic?"
I laughed so fucking hard
It was awesome haha

+Curtis Young me too
The common sense bit lmbo

I missed when John Oliver looked like a member of the Beatles
extremerocker45 you win the comments
He look like Harry Potter's cousin
extremerocker45 now he just looks like one of my college history professors.
I miss when he looked like Patrick Stewart.

John Oliver is just plain great. I like his new show, even if his first episode spent the first ten minutes shitting on my state of Oregon. I only wish it were on more than once a week.
They said when it started that if it went well they might do it more days. It has gone really well so far so I'm sure it will happen eventually.
Charles Hancocks I believe Oliver stated that he didn't want his show competing with Stewart's show.
archaicsentinel They're on different networks.

HotCuppaCoffee what is "real"? How do you know that this is even reality?

Patrick Stewart playing John Oliver? Now that's a stage Show I'd watch

+samwiseshanti well, he probably matured and developed, just like all comedians
actually while he lives here, I don't think he's an official citizen because he mentioned many times how he can't vote in any of elections.
Pity that he isn't getting dual citizenship :/ aw well, the Brits made us suffer through Piers Morgan so we deserve someone a bit better
wait a minute?!
John Oliver
Jon Stewart
Patrick Stewart
IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!!!!
+Sheepy007 the slow evolution of getting another great Englishman on the Daily Show
it's so symmetrical
half life 3......confirmed.
+catastrophis every time someone says that, I Google it and then cry
There needs to be a Patrick Oliver somewhere to complete the circle.
I love how everyone says “frustrating” in the British accent that John has (1:27)
Ah, that's why they slowed down, I didn't get why they did that
From now on when someone gives me a stupid answer I'm going to tell them "could you be anymore generic"
+Maria Ortega I'm probably 9 months too late to warn you but generic doesn't mean stupid. It's more akin to "common" or "cliche".

John Oliver is a treasure. I'm so glad he got his own show with numerous Emmys.
I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about the human microphone people repeating John’s criticism of them that just makes me smile
it feels like it's straight out of a movie

Damn. I forgot that he was straight up savage during interviews.
The true heir to the daily show.. But I still love the show on HBO
he is doing well on last week tonight
I think last week tonight is a better show. They prepare so much material instead of just commentating on current affairs.
Yeah since the hbo is a weekly show, there's a whole week to prep. Makes it so rich in quality
He can actually say "fuck" without having anyone bleep it out.
I mean I think Trevor Noah's doing a pretty fantastic job...
That crack in John's voice when he says "I'm Sorry Mr. S". 😂
John Oliver looks like he could be from the Beatles
he was actually a stand in for lenon one time
his family is from Liverpool
+Weeb Lord (PBUH)
Wait, I though they are from Birmingham.
that's racist
his mum's family are scousers, his dad's family are plazzy scousers but he was brought up in the Midlands :)
Oh look! British Milhouse!
Aye-Htun Ohn you mean American Harry Potter
I love how at 3:28 the audience starts to cheer, then goes "awww" when Jon Stewart appears. LOL
"Can you be more generic" lol.
I love how halfway through the human mike chant the policeman and spectators in the background joined in on Jon's chant! "Is everything people find annoying" 😂😂
"Can you be more generic?" I gotta use that more often.
I wish there was a place I could watch every full episode of the Daily show with Jon Stewart
Go to comedy Central site.they have it all.
Anyone notice that when he did the chant thing, when he said frustrating that they repeated it in his accent
Real people real values papa john's
you deserve a Nobel Prize for this comment (Papa Bless)
Sir Patrick Stewart is always gold.
The bit where Patrick Stewart posed as Jon Oliver still cracks me up today!!
He was so attractive when he was younger. I mean he still is, but... damn.
I'm not gay.
You don't have to be; we're all a bit attracted to parrot-face.

The BEST was when he literally broke the set while filling in for Stewbeef.
that mic check segment though xD

We strive to plant our seed in you for eternity.
If this was truly the best of John Oliver, it would be at least 400 minutes long.
Though I'm sure John would think it would be 0.4296 of a second long
John Oliver is a freaking legend. Even back then he stole the show; and now since he has his own show he still steals the show with his honest political comedy.
Patrick Stewart killed me.
2:53 That HAS to be Patrick Stewart disguised as John Oliver. I LOVE IT!
Seeing Capt Picard and Prof X (older) with hair just made my day!
He's had hair in most of his roles before ST:TNG. It was never the same hair twice, but it was there.
does anyone else remember "DANJA" ...it's become a reflex, every time it's repeated on the news I have to start dancin...
