John Oliver is just plain great. I like his new show, even if his first episode spent the first ten minutes shitting on my state of Oregon. I only wish it were on more than once a week.
They said when it started that if it went well they might do it more days. It has gone really well so far so I'm sure it will happen eventually.

I don't think that's possible. A ridiculous amount of research is done to prepare for each episode. It's different from Jon Stewart where it's presumably improvisation.
Napoleon Bonaparte That would be a mistake, I think. I think at half an hour, it is the right length. He doesn't get commercial breaks and he doesn't have a guest on every show, so he has to keep going for most of the full 30 minute run of his show. He's done well so far, but I don't know if he could manage an hour.
I love John Oliver, he takes the piss out of nearly everyone and still makes them laugh as he does it. As a Brit I'm glad Piers Morgan isn't the only one we have in 'murica.

Tbh he was quite shit over here- I don't know what changed. I would guess working with Jon Stewart all those years made him find his voice, but he's brilliant now.
The USA leads in political satire now. We just don't have much of it in the UK anymore (other than HIGNFY). Love John Oliver, brilliant guy. But real credit goes to Stewart. He launched so many careers.

Patrick Stewart's done some very nice work over the years. I wasn't crazy about him in Star Trek, but that's more of a writing issue than his acting, methinks... the whole "We could help these people, but it would be bad because reasons!" schtick gets reeeeally old. I like him better as the narrator of Sims Medieval... or as John Oliver.^^

Although we Brits didn't really see much of John initially once he strted The Bugle with Andy Zalzman I loved him. He also led me to Mr Stewart so for that I'm very grateful. Great new show too. Pity comedy central you tube subscription isn't possible in UK.
The summer he hosted was the best. His coverage of the Royal Wedding and Carlos Danger was so great.
Funny how his comedic style didn't change even in last week tonight. He still does the same kind of humor .
Man, the old daily show was amazing. The old Colbert Report was too. I need a combination of Colbert's monologue + Seth's Closer Look + Fallon's skits to make up for them now.

its a diferent take, he was good on the tds, but we cant compare with the freedom he has on hbo. to be fair, i dont think many would be able to get away with half the things he does there. on the same way, i dont think he would be as good on the tds had he taken over either.
