@@jblack530i think we can all tell that sage is right, even from this scene. ashley is still using techniques that have kept her alive this long in the hopes that they will weather the changes in homelander’s psyche as he totally breaks. she’s offering wisdom, from her own experience.
sage is saying: your experience does not matter anymore. things are changing. the rules are changing.
they’re both trying to save each other in this scene while also being emotionally affected by the toxic hierarchy of their workplace.
She's not warning her, she's jealous. She hates that someone else isn't terrified of Homelander like she is. Cowards are uncomfortable when someone with courage steps in the picture. Thus her "advice" is become a coward too.

ashley isn’t a coward for the way she’s been surviving this situation. she’s at an incredible proximity to the most hair-triggered nuke you could imagine. her fear has kept her alive. of course her advice is “get afraid,” when she’s looking at somebody she believes is a little too confident in their own method.
ashley’s advice is bad but it doesn’t come from a place of jealousy, it comes from indignance. from her perspective, sage is pretty single-handedly pushing homelander over the edge. it puts her in danger, too, not just sage.
jealousy just doesn’t even begin to factor into it. i don’t even understand how you’re seeing that here.

Ashley has a point, before he hated being surrounded by Yes men (and Stan Edgar told him he'd regret taking control) homelander was prone to just lashing out at anybody who pushed back at him. He always hated lies but you gambled with your life if you told him a hard truth before, now he knows its better to have someone push back sometimes. I predict it wont last
Homelander's ego and insecurity won't let Sage stay for long as his advisor. At the minimal hint that Sage is plotting something against him or if he finds no further use for her then she's going to be scattered across the country.
