    Thanks for the video. I did this exact job on my '07 Outback about 2-1/2 years and 35k miles ago...a shop wanted $1200 to do it (they said it was a pretty difficult job to replace, lol) but I bought a used one from the junkyard for about $50 and did it myself. It didn't take more than 45 minutes to remove the old one and install the new. It's still going strong.

    I replaced the prop shaft on my '05 Outback six or seven months back, and it was one of the easiest repairs I've ever done.
    From getting the jackstands, jack, and tools out, to doing the swap, and putting everything back away after was less than an hour total. Great video.

    If I was in SC and not central VA I would buy this from you so damn fast. After having watched nearly everything you’ve done to it, and knowing you’ve looked over nearly everything - this is a hard car to pass up.

    Every single point you touched on this car are the exact issues I’ve had with mine. Unfortunately due to availability, my prop shaft costed me 800$CAD for a rebuild, so far the most expensive repair. But she’s running smooth!

    Last driveshaft I did was an '07 f350...my friends truck and thankfully I never have to work on it again.
    I'll never be at your level for knowledge, but looking forward to my brother in law needing work on his outback.
    I'll be like "well first I have to remove these 4 12mm bolts, get this out of the way then I'll remove the 2 14mm bolts holding the ____ in place."
    👌

    Ive replaced 3 wheel bearings now and noise still there! my sound is a bit more low and you can feel a vibration in few places like the pedals and such. Speed related as well with mine in neutral or gear from 40-60 it is so deafening I cant tell where its coming from. This is my next guess, Thank you!

    we got to get together and somehow get you a nice lift! Second time you use those speed wrenches those things are starting to come in handy!

    Holy crap, only $ 645 for a new propshaft (outback -00), my dealer here in Sweden gave a price at just over 16000 sek, wich is around $ 1500...
    I'm replacing the U-joints now, but the new didn't come with these clips you showed in an older video. So I got to do something like they did at the factory.
    Good to have something to do while waiting for the new clutch 😸😸

  • @kenc.9067
    @kenc.9067 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Just checked mine out. It was fine. Unfortunately, I'm thinking the source of my noise might be a rear wheel bearing. I used a small pry bar that fit through the rear U joint to hold back on the prop shaft when loosening the rear flange nuts.

    Nice demonstration of when the box wrench is useful. How exactly are the four bolts be torqued down at the tight spot rear differential flange?

    Man...making me think about those weird ass speed wrenches...i got some basic cheapo regular wrenches, which i'm fine with, but man when you gotta use them for any tights spaces, its a pain. I'd probably only really use a 10mm. One thing at a time lol.

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2011 outback, 6sp manual. I see you’re in an automatic. Does this noise happen when rolling out of gear?
    Mine has the noise at 45+ miles and gets louder the faster, out of gear the noise stays the same. All of my bearings were replaced and I still have this noise. It’s sounds like the millennium falcon taking off. Diagnosis, same issue? Thank for the reply.

    Mine doesn't quite sound that high pitched but it's definitely a low hum that gets much louder as I speed up and I had thought it was possibly the front differential...how much would it cost for a full rotor a brake pad replacement...the steering wheel wiggles when I brake so I would assume it's a warped rotor...any advice I would be grateful for...I need a gasket replacement and plan to machine the heads but that can wait as the leak is very minor but the vehicle is coming up on 200 k and I need to change all the fluid soon

    Hi mate, I’m wondering if you can change the centre bearing on the prop shaft on a 2010 outback 2.5 CVT I note that febest supply a part for outback 2.5,2009 onwards and it says b14 outback models was not sure if this was the correct part or not. If you could let me know that would be excellent thank you.

    do the two drive shaft sections disconnect
    is the center bearing rebuilable?
    it seems like it would be worn rubber or bearings.

    Nice video. Had to do that on mo 06 Forester. Have a question for you if want to throw anything to look for at me. I just did HG on my 06 2.5i outback limited. Now at around 2k an doesn't matter hot or cold. An not all the time, I have a sound that sounds like cards in spokes. It goes away when you let off gas or it shifts.any help? If you know the sound it makes with no oil when you change it. It's that type sound but more solid sounding.

    Idk if you have heard of this issue but i have replaced the front cv's cuz it would make a harsh clunking on sharper turns like turning into a parking spot. But i continues to make a loud clunking when turning. No too sure whats going on. If you have any ideas i would love to hear back. Thanks

    • @adriancuevas1587
      @adriancuevas1587 ปีที่แล้ว

      @mrweedtouch ended up getting rid of the outback but i from what i could find online it could have been Torque bind. Looks to be related with the center diff/viscous coupler. I replaced the axles with no luck so i think the center diff was the issue

    • @TheCharacter97
      @TheCharacter97 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adriancuevas1587 Thanks for responding back. I was asking because I have a similar same issue. Replaced my front cv axles that were more then due and have sometimes a clicking type noise when turning (not always but more when I turn with more speed then need to do a smooth left or right, like when you spot last second the street you were looking for). Anyways I have to replace my driveshaft soon as it is more then due as well..

    • @adriancuevas1587
      @adriancuevas1587 ปีที่แล้ว

      @mrweedtouch yea for me it was more at low speed like trying to park at full lock and it would be a loud clunk so i figured it was the axels but no fix.

    Hi! I have a problem with my -07 Legacy 2.0R, when I check the ATF level when cold it sits just below the full dot but when I check the oil when warm the oil level is a bit above full on the hot but if i check the other side on the dip stick it reads way over the full mark, like an inch above… I check it with the engine running and after running it through the gears. Is it better to have it a bit low when cold or a couple of millimeters above full when hot? And what side of the dip stick should I trust?

    Anyone fancy giving my forester a diagnosis? It's an 03 2litre with the 5 speed and low range.... basically it's making a clicking rattley noise when I'm not on the clutch, it goes away when I press the clutch in, if i get on it over about 3k rpm and i release the clutch it sounds like a severe heat shield rattle but from in the transmission.... I was thinking release bearing but never heard 1 sound like this when it's on it's way out 🤔
