261 mph is still the electronically limited top speed - it hit the limiter right at the end (though the limiter starts to kick in from 253 mph itself and limit acceleration). There is more in that car for sure. That runway surface was also fairly bumpy. Almost ran out of runway near the end, but actually got there really quickly considering how slowly they took it at first. The more impressive thing here is how it stops - it bled off all that speed in 10 seconds!

It's not about how fast it goes, it's about HOW it goes fast. Other hypercars who aimed just at high speed records seem strained and dangerous at high speeds, Chiron is solid like a rock. And then it slows down and drives like a luxurius GT, whereas those other cars are rough, loud, unrefined, unsafe, etc. A Venom GT has more noise and vibration inside at 50 km/h than Chiron on 250. This is what makes the Chiron special. That's why quality is more important than quantity, and why making EXCELLENT cars that do EVERYTHING well is far more impressive than making cars that just do one thing well so the makers can boast about it, while it sucks at everything else People who just care about how fast a car goes don't know enough about engineering to be able to appreciate it when it's at the pinnacle, numbers on paper tell just a small part of the story. A tuned Civic will be as fast as an S65 AMG, but it's nowhere near as good in any way.
Different feelings for different people. Koenigsegg's are for those who want to feel like they are on the very edge of death just like a motorcycle rider riding at 200mph. Bugatti is for those who want to go fast but also care about being comfortable and safe at that speed.
I absolutely agree with you 100% I don't think there is a better car that you can buy and go 260 miles an hour and drive it everyday like a daily driver and have comfort like a luxury car. I think the only car that does that is a Bugatti.I think the thrill of the other cars is the whole point of rattling and seeming like a death contraption because you getting that adrenalinn rush.where the Bugatti it's too calm and collected you're not going to get that adrenaline rush like you do with the other cars
Well everyone has their own opinion but you do know the Koenigsegg is faster and just as stable right? Watch videos of their test driver driving the Agera. He barely touched the wheel. And there are numerous videos of him going full throttle with no hands on the wheel and it goes straight as an arrow. He does the same while braking hard, and again straight as an arrow. If the Chiron is you fave that's cool and all but maybe a lil more research before you tell everyone what it does so much better that other cars
rediculousrapper Clearly you’ve never driven a Koenigsegg and are going by videos on the internet. When actually driving one, yes it’s not going to drift off to the side; that’s the entire point of aero at high speeds. When driving it, it vibrates a ton even when just idling nevermind on a high speed run. Koenigseggs are essentially meant to make you feel like it’s trying to kill you. They aren’t luxurious at all and don’t feel safe whatsoever. The noise, vibrations, single clutch gearbox thrashing through gears, etc makes it a completely different animal. Edit: This has made me seem like I’m a Koenigsegg hater when in fact these reasons are the reason I love them so much and own 3. Agera RS, Regera, and CCX.
@@rediculousrapper yeah, people think that the chiron is more stable at high speed just because it's more "refined" and heavier. Weight doesn't help that much for stability at such high speeds, it can even make it worse. What really matters is things such as downforce and suspension, things that koenigsegg definitely are superior at. The agera rs is a track car with a huge wing that still beat the chiron, while bugattis have like no downforce in comparison

Either the limiter started to kick in around 250mph to limit the power output, or it didn’t have much more in it. Seemed to struggle at the end even though the acceleration to like 240 was immense! Buzzing to see an unrestricted run in the future!

It is definitely the limiter gradually cutting off the power around 250 mph. Majority of testers running at that speed know the Chiron is capable of more and some of them are eager to do the record should the current Bugatti CEO allow it.
The car pulled fine till it hit 261 mph, the bug for sure has another 10-15 mph left in the tank. There was no warning or power drop till 261 mph

This is epic!! This the fasted documented "customer" car on TH-cam (and the Internet). 261 MPH = 418 Kmph. That is faster than the original Bugatti Veyron. And to think that the car was limited to 261 makes it even more special. Kudos to you man. This stuff is unheard of!!

@@pauljr.harrington1905 Of course the Agera RS run is there. But that was an official top speed run done with loads of prior planning and research unlike this run. So, IMHO, that makes it a bit different from this run. But yes, technically, you are indeed right.
The Agera is out of production, so can't be classed as the fastest production car. The Regera is limited to 402kph, so the Chiron is the fastest production car.
MaximilianAlex The Veyron Super Sport was the fastest car, but the Veyron went out of production in 2015, and the Agera took the record in 2017, and if you say a vehicle is out of production and can no longer be classified as the fastest car, then there would have been no proven fastest car, as the SSC Ultimate Aero went out of production, and the Venom GT only did its run in one direction.

These speeds are mad, but what's really crazy is this car and its ability to do it over and over all day long. I'd guess tyre wear would be the first sign of any drama

I wanna experience that kind of speed man. When I go 130 - 140 mph in my car I start to say to myself: “-Okay! Now we’re starting to FLY! I can FEEL IT!” But this (261 mph)....... man.
Thanks for giving us a real look at this car on this particular track. Great way to use a portion of the distance to bring out the best of that car. I'm guessing cruise@100mph in 4th gear then punch the pedal w/down shift to 3rd rpms raises up quickly then shift up to 4th and blast off to 5th and let gear#6 pull to 250mph-261 7th gear up to 280-290+mph Bugatti should pay you guys for testing and tuning

The problem with people comparing a Koenigsegg to this is that they're not comparable at all.
Bugatti's are luxurious (in comparison to those it's pitted against)
If VW decided to remove all the creature comforts and focused on speed and agility and no doubt they could make something that would SMOKE the competition.
What I think the point of this car or at least the original Veyron was to show they could 400+km while also providing a degree of comfort.

Ok do tell me why the Chiron only needed 2.7 miles to reach 261 mph and yest the fastest car in the world the agera RS needed 11 miles to average 277.9 mph? I think they should remove the limiter from the Chiron to see who's really the speed king that is until Hennessy comes out with the f5

Since Koenigsegg had a long road, they started slow and finished slow aswell, no need to rush. But for an acceleration comparison, Koenigsegg did 0-400-0 in 33 s. 2.4 km or 1.5 miles and Bugatti did it in 42 s. 3.2 km or 2 miles.

186-250 in about 17.5 seconds. 0-186 in 13.2 seconds. Wait, that means the Chiron can do 0-250 in 30-30.5 seconds, and so should have done 0-400-0 in 39-40 seconds. That means it's indeed a bit faster than what Bugatti says.
I just ran some numbers on the Chiron Super Sport that did 300 mph. th-cam.com/video/FuS_bXJNync/w-d-xo.html - It does the 186-250 part in 10 seconds - full 7.5 seconds faster than this Chiron you tested. The 0-186 mph time is also sure to be better, which means it should probably do the 0-250 in just 24 seconds - it's accelerating on par with the Agera RS till 270 mph and then just goes and goes. You will see for yourself when you test it. The new Chiron SS is bonkers - they've added a lot of HP, and cut down a lot (and I mean a lot) of drag, and some weight. And it's super stable as always.
I'll wait for the Chiron Super Sport video whenever it comes out. Have fun when you get hold of one!

@@william_SMMA the Agera RS has an upgraded engine at 1360hp. It did not originally come with this engine. It would be the equivalent of using the Chiron SS 300+ performance numbers for a base Chiron. And no, the Chiron SS 300+ will do 400kph in ~22-23s. Which is several seconds faster than the Agera RS.

261 is NOT a world record, Koenigsegg is at 271 average, he had it up to 284, the new "Jesko" he says will go 300 mph soon

That's nuts 250mph and still pulling one g of acceleration.
I was ready to turn this of when i saw how easy it was going at 84mph. Then it started moving without any effort to 250 plus. I can see where that 2 million plus went. The fastest I've seen was the modified Gtr, it went 230, but it doesn't compare to the Chiron.
The way this thing accelerates once the power is down is just staggering... it goes from 150 - 200mph like most cars do 30 - 60mph...

@@victorfu5979 The car took off slow on purpose so it would not hit the top speed(261 mph) before the ground based timing equipment, we DONT rely on GPS as the sole timing source. So he needed to be at top speed at the speed trap so the speed would be official. The Bugatti Chiron has a speed limiter at 261 mph and if he took off fast he would hit the limiter before the speed trap. The timing and speed is done by the "International Mile Racing Association". I hope this helps explain the reason for the slow start. Thanks JB

I still keep coming back to see this. The Chiron just makes the other cars look pitifully strained at much slower speeds. At 80 mph, it was just going for a walk and then decided to go for a run. That easy.

Agera RS used downhill and tailwind to pass 280 mph as seen on Koenigsegg own footage. On flat surface, it couldn't go above 278 mph which is its true top speed and accelerated much slower from 270 mph. It also needed modification and was unstable at high speed, hardly effortless.
Remember this folks ,when bragging to your mates about how powerful your engine is ,tell them what's even more impressive than the engine are the brakes they can slow a car down way faster than the engine can accelerate it ,and also hold back the car even when full throttle is applied ,also much simpler than an engine
So the car literally turns into a fighter jet!

The Chiron has topped out at its limiter’s permitted speed, and while it did fail to dethrone its arch nemesis, the Koenigsegg Agera RS, it did take off rather slowly to protect the tires, which is what the Koenigsegg did to protect its tires for its world record run.
no he did what the call a roll out you roll the car at high gear then at a certain way point start accelerating i think they did so cause Bugatti might shit themselves if this owner runs the car up to topspeed etc. before they do so officially yes the chiron won't top the agera RS but the car can run a higher top end remember these customer models are limited to 260mph

Glad you noticed, he was making sure he hit the International Mile Racing Association speed trap at the highest speed before the limiter slowed the car. Basically the car had to start hard accelerating a ways past the starting line. Thanks JB

Actually that is incorrect, the car went into a sort of limp mode @ 260 mph regardless of distance traveled. The reason for the sandbagging for the first 4000 feet was to cross the timing equipment at the exact moment the car hit 260 mph before the system shutdown the car. I hope this helps. JB
so by the time the chiron does 231mph the koenigsegg agera RS runs 250mph BUT i could see the Chiron here was at full tilt but it has far longer gears the segg is made for vicious acceleration the chiron just raw top end also longer gears make the climb to top end safer due to it happening very linearly and also might mean higher top end if the car has the space now i want to see more i have a feeling the Chiron can run more and can do it Quicker BUT maybe those vids arent shared cause of legal reasons with Bugatti.

@James Crain 270-275mph that 4400 pounds means it has a damn anker pulling it back by alot 1,996 kg (4,400 lb) vs 1395 kg (3075 lbs) and that will kill topspeed as well as make you accelerate far slower as well as you need FAR more space to reach your top end this might mean that the chiron won't ever top out unless the gears are shortened causing less top speed to be a result etc. Bugatti fucked up that's the short answer they veyron shouldve been their learning curve that a bentely with 600hp is not faster then a mclaren with 600hp not at all this is why the Bugatti divo came out they were testing to see the difference weight has and wow 8 seconds per lap faster then the normal chiron hopefully Bugatti says aah 1600kg(3550lbs) is the limit for the next car we produce hopefully even less cause the W16 engine is a great platform just Bugatti is screwing up in the weight depo also they release cars far later then they were meant to be the chiron was supposed to be dropped either 2013 or 2012 here look articles about the rumoured 1500hp veyron from 2010-2011

Not true I said the Chiron could do 0 to 249mph in 28 sec and in this video as he did not floor it till 125 mph the Chiron reach 125 to 249 mph in 22 sec from this video from vbox data .The Chiron could reach 0 to 125 mph in 6.1 sec so that is 28 sec vbox and independently tested.This confirms exactly what I said that Bugatti down play the 0 to 249mph time of 32 sec

It's the tires that are the problem like they were on Super Sport. They had a great video of this on a Bugatti documentary some decade ago were they were testing the Michelin tires specifically made for Veyron 290mph and how they were destroyed by maintaining the speed for around a minute. Veyron and Chiron have always been about getting the top speed with no rattles and in comfort.
This is not a car made in a shed, but a car made by the world largest car manufacturer with full warranties and all liabilities if anybody of these billionaires get killed or hurt driving the car. Understandable they would limit it.

The Chiron is most certainly not drag limited at 262mph. The Chiron is slowing down because after 250mph the car is slowly cutting fuel thereby reducing horsepower and that in turn is reducing the acceleration to limit the top speed. The veyron vitesse in gt board races did the same exact thing after 223mph it was accelerating at 0.6 mph every second to its limiter. Now at that rate it could never even have a topspeed of 254 mph but when the limiter was removed in top speed run it was accelerating harder at 240mph+ when limiter was removed than at 223mph with limiter on . Bugatti show the Chiron acceleration from 271 to 273.4mph with limiter remove there is evidence .The Chiron was accelerating at a rate of 2 mph per second without limiter after 271mph.
@BTICronox I'm sure the chiron is quicker due to more power but it had very favorable conditions in this run with a 20 mph tail wind.

The Agera rs 0 - 400km/h time on flat is 27 seconds.
Now Bugatti claim 32.6 sec to 400km/h and their 200 - 400km/h took 26.5 seconds according to them but they did not show GPS data above 300km/h. In this top speed run of Chiron and from vbox (GPS) of its run from 124- 249mph.This is 200 - 400km/h which took 22 seconds on GPS. That is 4.5 seconds quicker than its claim time which means the Chiron 0 - 400km/h is actually 28 seconds.
On this 2.7mile runway the Chiron wasted nearly 0.7miles cruising between 40mph to 100mph for over 23 second before taking off and it still hit 262 mph even before the finish line. In fact it took less than 2 miles to hit its 262mph limited speed. The agera rs took 3.5 to 4 mile to hit 277mph for reference. So it is only 1.2 seconds quicker to 400km/h.

The Chiron is capable of more and can easily beat Koenigsegg effort- who used E85 fuel and tweaks to achieve their optimal performance - in a much shorter distance as demonstrated by this video where the tester had to start slow to properly record the electronic top speed of the Chiron.
Be in mind all major manufacturers already know Bugatti already beat Koenigsegg best top speed three years ago during its development. Even Michelin know Bugatti can do more and the true challenge is to build a tyres capable of reliably handle nearly 500 km/h by adhering to the government standard. At this current time, Stephan Wilkenman is not interested to do the top speed.

wrong, I was there on the Venom test and it took a lot longer to hit 270 mph. the Bug will go 280 plus with the limiter off. Then you have my car the BADD GT which hits 292.9 mph in the standing mile ;)
