    That's good Mark that means that the oil is staying out of the intake track and not going to get on your valves and since your car is direct injection those intake valves won't get all crud up.

    I've been running my IAG AOS for some years now and so far I think its done a good job. However, the 3 last oil changes I ran the intake valve cleaner and I believe it could of mucked up my IAG AOS unit. The drain hose on mine though was cracked. I replaced with new one and old one was pretty packed with that gunk.
    I was in touch with IAG and they suggested I remove the top allen bolts and separate the unit. Then, clean the inside part out and reinstall. I've never ever touched this unit since installation so I wonder how full of junk it will be.
    Once cleaned out they suggested to change oil soon.

      ya i took it out eventually, as it was more of a pain than worth it, and made a mess of the engine bay too

      @@LastHumansGarage hmm. On mine I removed the Allen key bolts from top of IAG AOS.
      No gunk that I could see in canister and seemed OK. No oil under it like yours had or coolant drips. Nice and dry. I put it back together. When putting it back I used dielectric grease stuff you can use on gaskets and brake slide pins on the bolts and gaskets. Ensured it was cleaned from any dirt using blue disposable shop rags.
      I had to snug up the bolts after first run since it was dripping a bit coolant wise. Once again it seems to work okay I believe. Only junk was from the drain hose that I had to replace since it had a crack on it.
      Anyway I would like to thank you again for the aos install video since when it was installed initially your video helped a lot since the printed instructions at time had us confused at one step.
      Have a great rest of your weekend :)

    I cant think of the company off the top of my head, but they have a drain hose elbow that connects with the turbo drain. This give you better/steeper drain to the pan and should help with build up. Plus I would imagine the turbo oil would help as well. Still a little early to check mine out, but in a couple of months, I'll take a look. Although I'm still planning on making it a service item every 6 months to a year.

      Found the video that explains it. I honestly took their idea and found my own way to accomplish the same concept. And no worries at all, It's what communities are for, and we all know how the subie community is 🤙

    The drain hose should have oil. That’s what it’s supposed to do

  • @Tyler-kw7vk
    @Tyler-kw7vk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The iag is the best on the market and yes it’s supposed to keep oil out of the intake system like yours did and the yellow stuff is probably moisture build up since it’s so cold in va you’ll see a lot of cars with no aos have it in the oil fill cap due to not fully warming the car on super cold days

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i had some in my oil cap

    • @Tyler-kw7vk
      @Tyler-kw7vk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LastHumansGarage yeah just moisture from being cold id leave the aos on

    • @MrDoomzy
      @MrDoomzy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      VA as in Virginia? Or Vancouver? Because Virginia is not cold lol and you’re supposed to clean out the aos every so often.

  • @Thunderstryk
    @Thunderstryk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    im too confused. Did you buy this car with the AOS installed already? How do you not understand anything about what it's doing or what its for before installing it yourself?
    Also the "gunk" is just oil that's been blown by the turbo / out of the crank case with air / exhaust gas, its perfectly fine to go back into your oil pan. The oil filter will do it's job. You just need to make sure you change your oil on time (duh).

      @LastHumansGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i saw the comment days ago, lemme try and work thru it.. no, i installed the AOS myself, there is a video on it. I understand what its doing. The banter is called video chat.. to bring up ideas and questions. I have no idea what i ever said in this video, and don't really care at this point, the car is longgggg gone.

    Seeing this makes me want to convert mine to a competition version. I know it's normal to have that buildup, but I'd rather not get that in the engine. I don't believe my car burns oil much at all, so I'm not worried about losing any of that sludge outside the block.
    IfI don't go competition, I'll definitely go with catch cans.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      is there any way to clean that out or not really?

    • @richilg1
      @richilg1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LastHumansGarage nah because that's the point of the AOS. It recirculates "oil" so the car loses none; that's at least my understanding of it. I'm sure it hurts nothing at all to leave it alone, especially when it's up to temp going back into block. However, I've got no race car, I'm not pushing 30lbs boost, I don't burn oil. I'd rather see it leave my system than go back in.

    • @Euphoria0011
      @Euphoria0011 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Comp is nice, but since the vacuum system is removed due to dumping to atmosphere, I'm pretty sure you will need a tune. I installed mine two days ago, and the car has gone through some relearning, but, not aggressive enough to get me back power where it's been noticebly lost. If you can tune your own car, more power to you. Car acts normal under most conditions apart from low rpm closed loop to open loop transition points

    • @Euphoria0011
      @Euphoria0011 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's worth doing some logging and adjusting where necessary though. I'm currently in the process of that.

  • @WRXSNOWBOARDER

    Good video. I'm the same with the lines. They are very confusing. I think I'm going to let mine go a little longer before I check it out. I wonder if the oil on the bottom of the can vented air into the return to make more of that sludge than normal.

      i have another video coming out soon to discuss AOS a bit more.

    Thanks for the video. Are you still using the AOS? I see you were questioning it.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i used it mostly until i got rid of the car. never had issues, except a mess of hoses..

  • @thebagdersarse5824

    Condensation in most AOS's is normal for those who live in colder climates or cold winters and don't drive their cars enough to get them fully warmed up to burn it off. Heated AOS's shouldn't really suffer from it but like I said its probably not been allowed to get up to full operating temp to burn it off.
    fwiw my Crawford AOS doesn't suffer from this (without having the coolant lines attached..) and they have since removed the coolant lines from their AOS as they don't see this problem, probably due to the AOS been a lot closer to the motor which helps keep it hot.
    As for the oil leak, is it not leaking from the joint where the bottom/base meets the cylinder? is there an O ring in there? as the other pipe what screws into the base is a coolant line.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      dude... they don't do the coolant line anymore?? I would even consider reinstalling this if i could do without the 2 coolant lines to clean things up a bit... its uninstalled right now... before i saw everyone saw the goo was normal...

    • @thebagdersarse5824
      @thebagdersarse5824 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they done away with the coolant lines. Have you checked out the Crawford performance AOS yet? it fits to the LH IC bracket (TWO bolts) to the intake. Yeah I've just seen your other vid and noticed the AOS on the floor.

    • @thebagdersarse5824
      @thebagdersarse5824 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any chance of a video of a strip down of the AOS to see whats inside? as I don't think there's any pic's etc on the web showing this.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      naw im putting it back in minus the coolant lines, tonight. but i wish i had some post somewhere from IAG about not needing the coolant anymore.

    • @thebagdersarse5824
      @thebagdersarse5824 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just remembered.. If Killer B is still a sponsor? hit them up for one of theirs, it fits in the same place as the Crawford on and they also don't need coolant lines. They are a lot more expensive than the Crawford but they look a lot nicer.
      Also you may need to jiggle around the Cobb E 85 sensor which bolts to the manifold?
      Personally. I would not run the IAG AOS without coolant lines as this would probably make the emulsification worse in your case.

  • @okthen8445
    @okthen8445 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Didn’t finish the video yet but did you check the throttle body and manifold for oil as well

    Hope my comp. IAG AOS don't have that much buildup. Gonna run my hand on the bottom of the unit to see if has any oil leak.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i took it out for now. might do a raffle. i think i might want to go to a catch can for easier maintenance.

    • @enj5932
      @enj5932 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LastHumansGarage damn that sucks. I love my AOS just because of all the horror stories out there about blowby. Should have checked the throttle body side of intercooler on motor for residue.

    • @Leonidas20116
      @Leonidas20116 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder if it varies by car. I had my intercooler off just recently and couldn't find any evidence of residue. I'm at 21k and stage 2 for 8k of it. I was going to make this a top priority but now I'm not so sure.

    • @enj5932
      @enj5932 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LastHumansGarage I just checked my aos for leaks on the bottom and I only had yellow residue not oil. Guess that's from condensation. Maybe when I'm not so lazy I'll check a hose

    Im going to make an external drain can for my aos after seeing this. Id rather have it drain to an external spot rather than back into the oil supply

      this must have been my white gunk video..

    • @Thunderstryk

      just buy a catch can then. or run the IAG competition AOS (need a tune)

  • @nickemangione
    @nickemangione 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is why I have dual catch cans on my Evo and not a AOS. I don’t want that junk draining into my oil pan.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i saw them today... and both require you to cut factory hoses to install?? not for me man.

    • @wrigman
      @wrigman 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LastHumansGarage. Yes you do cut factory hoses, but then loop those hoses into the can and back into the factory locations. No big deal. They DO work....

    • @wrigman
      @wrigman 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, I cut hoses and keep all other parts as well as keeping the original loop in tact(ultimately). You remove PCV(not pvc, that is a plastic)valves............. To quote someone else up her...... not for me man.......

  • @MatthewMaranan
    @MatthewMaranan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Check this Killer B post forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=44881134&postcount=26 I personally would not run E85 without an AOS because of the increased blowby E85 causes.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i seen that. all you'd need to do is more frequent oil changes. plus i run e50, not e85

    • @MatthewMaranan
      @MatthewMaranan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LastHumansGarage Change the oil more frequently for the sludge or for blowby? Im on E50 also
