Transmission Service on my $850 Supercharged Range Rover!

I bought a supercharged Range Rover for only $850, and it's time to service the transmission! It's been leaking since it was totaled, so let's find out if this fixes it or if there's more wrong with it.

looks like a ZFHP 26 transmission (6 speed). l have the same in my falcon, but mine has a metal pan

You're right! They probably made different pan variants based on the vehicle. I think there are at least 2 bolt patterns in Range Rover applications. On the Range Rover Sport from the other series we put in a replacement metal pan with a separate filter (for easier installation).

I had a plastic oil pan break on my MKVII Golf. I am curious the reason for not making them more robust.

For this truck I would guess cost, especially because the transmission filter is built in. I'd guess it's a cost decision too from VW in the Golf, but it's a much lower vehicle so it feels like a riskier choice!
