    Greetings from Australia. Enjoyed very much this video regarding “personal interpretation as opposed to recording” as well as the Lee7 vid. I worked professionally from the early 70’s onwards and during that time shot 35mm and 120mm chrome so would use polarises and graduation filters on a regular basis. But since digital technology and in particular Photoshop I don’t find any need to use filters anymore, especially graduated filters which I often use to darken down a sky to taste. I also find ‘dehaze’ very helpful. My question, do you have a reason or philosophy as to why you still use, basically an analogue system, in a digital world? Best wishes and keep up the good work and thoughtful and empathetic commentary.

    Each day brings me a day closer to heading off over your way, Steve. I know that's still a way off, but I went for our annual to Brigadoon (Bundanoon) not long after we spoke at Peter Eastway's Atelier, so I'm keeping Scotland in mind! However, I now have my computer back from hospital but I'm still waiting for Olympus Hospital to discharge my camera/lens - body part issues! Meanwhile, I've made myself use the 12-40mm lens and I'm loving the results. Ah, the magic of Olympus... I really love the lighter system.

The M10 mk3 was tempting, but I really like this form factor, with swiveling screen and weather proofed. It's a shame they didn't update it for 4+ years.

    Yong D Kim, Thanks so much for your reply, I was so worried that I got a defective camera, I was ready to pack it up and return it. In other words, do you think that if I turned off the IBIS, the noise will go away? Thanks again.

    • @evshrug
      @evshrug 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What kind of noise? I had a few stuck pixels in my quite-old E-PL5, but that noise was taken care of in stills and video with the “pixel mapping” feature in camera settings. If you mean you HEAR a noise, you could check your manual and make sure that your IBIS is only trying to compensate while you’re half-holding down the shutter - what you might be hearing is the sensor reaching the limit for how far it can “swing” to one side, then the IBIS is trying to reset by coming back to center. The newer firmwares and cameras seem to work like magic with video... maybe a firmware update could help too?
      Hope this issue was resolved for you years ago!

    I've invested in a EM-5 MKII with 12-40mm & 40-150mm pro lenses.
    I have a Lee 100mm filter set for my Nikon D750, I wanted to ask if the kit works fine on the Olympus kit, i.e. will the Lee 100mm soft grad work the same on the small sensor as it does on a FX sensor or would I need to use a hard grad on the Olympus?

    What head is that on your Gitzo tripod, in the sequence by the lake? (I used to shoot with an OM-1 starting in 1978, loved that camera). In 2009 or so I bought a Nikon d7000 and hated it from the second I walked out of the shop. About a year ago I got fed up with all that clunky Nikon gear, it was like carrying a load of bricks. Have gone back to Olympus with an OM-D M5 Mk II and will never shoot with another brand again.
