Stevie changed the lyrics. Buddy Guy stuck pretty much to the words of the original nursery rhyme. Note that SRV referred to the lamb's color as being "black as coal," rather than "white as snow." I thought that was inspired! By the way, in 1989 Stevie is even better in the Austin performance of the song, and you get a bonus solo by Reese on the keys! Check it out.
Every day attire for me is the stetson// the style of Stevie ray is truly one to be admired, more so for those of us that play. Thanks brothers for the ear candy.
He performed an absolutely killer version of this in France, the performance was on 7-3-1983 and TH-cam has it. Better than any version I've heard from SRV; he threw in some cool jazz, and it really Is next level.
@@HS-hr5wp A guy named Thorleifer Davisson posted it. Not sure how to link it but it's on TH-cam. He's wearing a gray suit with Applejack hat, using red guitar and I believe this performance was in France. Has 1 million views only but it's insanely good!!
The Hats! 😂🤣 Great background comments BP2! Credit for calling out Double Trouble.😀🤔 SRV's facility was ridiculous. I'd like to have heard his version of "10 Green Bottles". 😀 Likely too long for a vinyl album. 🤔 Best Wishes. ☮ BP2 - I hope the Lionel Ritchie gig was great.
Making one more visit to Stevie's resting place before leaving Texas. Today's 'real feel' here is 106°. The video from Austin 1989 is much more high energy. You also get a solo from Reese Wynans, keyboards.
@phantomrockerr Hey Phantomrockerr, we are live this Sunday evening if you are around. If you have a phot rocking that SRV Tee, we would like to pop that one up if you fancy it. Cheers
Love the hats and T-shirts👏🙌. Thanks for doing this today. The best version of this song is from Austin City Limits 1989! It features Reese Wynans on the keyboards and has much more variety of riffs and solos and is very high energy. That said there are no bad SRV videos only better ones...I hope you dedicate another month to him. We lost him in August and we celebrate his birthday in October for some suggested months. I would really love to hear you react to a creation by Stevie called Riveria Paradise that he composed after his own rehab and recovery. He dedicates it to all those out there that are suffering in any way and it's simply exquisite💫⭐️🌟✨ and shows off a different skill sets and style of playing. It is soothing and healing balm for spirit and soul🎸🎶💙✌️💯. But please do the Austin City Limits 1989 one. I don't know about the UK but that venue is never blocked in the states so please try without a filter first‼️
What Harriet said. The Austin performance is much longer also with 2 brilliant solos by SRV and Reese and is a 10. You're just scratching the surface. Please consider also as the instrumental Harriet suggested "Riviera Paradise" from the 1989 Austin show.
Gents...I'm a few days late to this one but I have to say, I'm hoping you both have noticed all the requests in this comments section for the Austin City Limits 1989 version of this song instead of this one. Please don't ignore all these comments. We'd LOVE to see you react to that one...much better & with a great keyboards solo. Please do it! Much love & appreciation from Kentucky U.S. 💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙
Austin City Limits 1989 version of this song is so much better! Very high energy and organ solo!!! SRV has a mishap with his guitar and never misses a beat!!! It's EPIC!
Stevie's performance of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" at Austin City Limits (the 2nd one) is much, much better. You'll see... th-cam.com/video/WWU6hpPJG_c/w-d-xo.html
Got to see SRV around ‘85 or ‘86 or so at a great venue (James L. knight Center) in Miami. A place built for musical events rather than a re-purposed basketball or hockey arena or worse, a stadium. His brother Jimmie and the Fabulous Thunderbirds were the opening act. I’ll never forget the “Karen” that was sitting directly in front of us, who felt compelled to turn around and severely reprimand us for lighting up a joint. Can you imagine someone actually smoking weed at a rock concert?? I don’t know what we were thinking. Temporary insanity I guess.
Probably so annoying as reactors when people say this, but it's too bad you didn't do the "Austin City Limits" version - that's one of his top few live vids in existence, if that vid wasn't SO phenomenal I wouldn't be 'that guy' to make that comment - this was maybe the one track he took a break in this entire set, which is absolutely fire turned up to 1,000% - funny that this is 'chill Stevie' - a great song from El Mocambo where he absolutely rips that Strat to pieces is "So Excited" - would love to see it! Anyway, his version of this Buddy Guy song is excellent always! So glad you had your Stevie month, great to hear any time he comes across your screen! Thanks!
Oh man! Thanks for doing this tune, but it’s not THE version that really is IT. Please, please check this out from Austin 1989. It’s twice as long and includes keyboard player Reece Wynans. Please!!!😊😊Trust me, it makes this one look like a throw away! Thank you!!!
SRV in his genre is akin to Elvis in the way that from the first chord before he even starts singing you know without a doubt who is playing that guitar. I agree his band doesn't get the credit they deserve, they compliment him perfectly. It's just hard to imagine how many more songs the world could have had if he hadn't died so young.
Y’all did the wrong performance. Gotta do the Austin , Texas performance. It’s a banana split compared to this single scoop vanilla ice cream cone. Lol. Honestly guys that performance has a longer rendition with the amazing keys player Reese Wynans adding to it.
You know . . . You blokes look just like Clint Eastwood in the hats. Is he dead? Anyway, you look just like you are ready to ride out and 'bust some sods'. Or whatever they do on horseback.
Yah...the Austin 1989 performance is his magnum opus. He goes all out Stevie up on stage for this one.

He was and ALWAYS WILL BE THE BEST BLUES GUITAR ,SINGER PLAYER EVER.. HANDS DOWN!!
Like the hats! Wear one all the time! SRV THE GOAT! 🤠🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😂
The best guitar player ever! Jimi Hendrix was a showman like vaudeville Stevie Ray Vaughan with pure talent!
Every day attire for me is the stetson// the style of Stevie ray is truly one to be admired, more so for those of us that play. Thanks brothers for the ear candy.
SRV held court with Mary had a little lamb,that just adds to his greatness.
SRV is a legend. When ever I am with my sone his music is always placed.

Why are you leaving?
@@bl18ce99 Been here too long. Time to go back to the mountains. Even though my daughter, and all her kids were born here, they really hate Texas.
I mean who else could make a nursery rhyme sound so funky? ✌️
This is before reese join them the one to listen to is from Austin city 1989 it's one of his greatest performances
SRV “look at little sister”👍
😂😂LOVE the hats! Wearing my SRV tshirt!
@Troy Ross
Cheers Troy, great to know you are enjoying your SRV t-Shirt.
We will pop up your photo on Sunday
SRV was the best, able to play lead and rhythm at the same time.
SRV-GOAT!

@Deborah Cornell
HI Deborah, we will certainly return to Mr.SRV and follow up with that version soon.
All the best
Cool bit of Geetar there from SRV, it's not quite how I remember Mary Had a Little Lamb, rockin' good version though! :)
@Lord Lockdowns Jukebox
SRV could sing the phone book and make it sound great.
All the best LLJ
I love the hats
Nicely played Guys 👍👍 Try "Willie the Wimp" next... please 🙏 Spread the love 🐶😎🇺🇸

@psidvicious
She was probably miffed you were passing it around!
Reese really is missing here some keys in the background make hell of a difference

I've seen the Buddy Guy original version. Stevie does a good cover. Buddy's has two saxophones, and sounds faster.
Scuttlebuttin
you should listen to the Austin live performance reece wynans was with him and I liked that performance better 1989
Y’all did the wrong performance. Gotta do the Austin , Texas performance. It’s a banana split compared to this single scoop vanilla ice cream cone. Lol. Honestly guys that performance has a longer rendition with the amazing keys player Reese Wynans adding to it.
Try something besides what everyone else is reacting to, dont be afraid to be a bit different!
Wrong video
